    Are You Listening?

In this chapter we see how the people refuse to turn to God because their hearts were wicked. No matter how God warned the people they refused to repent because they would not listen to God. In making application we see that the Lord is speaking but we fail to listen. How about you? Do you listen to the Lord? Let us learn from our text today and the example of Israel to see that the Lord is speaking to us through His word so we need to listen to receive His instruction, blessing, and favor.

the questions about tithing is answered by Jesus in the New Testament.yes it is mentioned in old testament...bring ye the tithe unto the storehouse. when you receive payment for services rendered....correct tithes 1/10th to God...but you cannot out give God either..Jesus did mention it himself..our great example.. also... "give and it shall be given unto you..pressed out.shaken together etc.."

IN 2018 Jehovah /GOD is pleading to the world; exhausting all means under the sun to get us to repent and become SAVED through the BLOOD OF JESUS, because Time is about to end then the JUDGEMENT BEGIN for both the saved and unsaved. 1 more storm, hurricane, war, sickness, death, but maybe at least 1 more person will become SAVED; sad GOD must use such to get humans attention, but Time almost up.

13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, JEHOVAH', The God of hosts, is his name.

Before God gives us light He first sends conviction of sins by the preaching of the Son of God Jesus Christ dying on the cross for us. In our natural state of mind we are in utter darkness about God and lost as to the meaning of life! I remember how awkward it was to be told to look up this or that verse in the Bible and go to church: none of it ever worked to really bring me to Jesus and save me.

@Lurshai-Read Matthrew 7: 21-23 that will answer your question. Sad thing to hear depart from me I never knew you. I don't ever want to hear those words. God directs my life daily and I always need him. I am nothing without him. Please get in church and start reading your Bible. It has all the answers you need. I will pray you are able to turn your life around before it is too late.

A lot of attention on Tithing and Offering; but what did Jesus really ever say about it? Tithing in the old times could be done by supporting the Ministers of the LORD according to however God has prospered you; or by supporting the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the Levite within your gates. At harvest time, at Payday; how you do is your business! Only NEVER AS PAYMENT for Church membership!

Tithing are for Jews under mosiac law I'm under liberty I give what God puts on my heart to give I give cheerfully
  • Emanuel Fernandes on Amos 4 - 6 years ago
Tithing we're for the Jews under the mosiac law I'm under liberty and wants every man to give as he purposeth in his own heart. God loveth a cheerful giver. You can't be cheerful if your told you have to tithe!

Just curious, from verse 4, should we be giving tithes every three years or as often as there is a 'harvest'?

    Message for Lurshai,
Glad to know that you acknowledge that there is GOD, whew!, secondly, I read that you ignore him daily and you seem high- minded WOW! Please read this scripture John 15:5, the latter part says this "without him, you can do nothing", we do nothing without GOD's help or allowance. if you die like you are, you will not spend eternity in his kingdom. Very concerned about you.

GOD hates sin, he wants us to live holy and righteous before him so that we can receive good things from him, he smiles and rewards us for obedience, but disobedience continuously, brings forth punishment and death, it is best to walk in obedience.

God is not speaking to the ignorant. He speaks to Israel His chosen peaple. God Himself is persuading you not to be rebellious. He is reminding you and showing you what He has done for you.So that you will see that your way leads to destruction. Do you not know that we eat the bread that was ment for Isreal ?And by His mercies ,we are called to be Holy.

Lursha, you can do nothing unless God allows it. There is no power in the human body that is not autonomic. You do not have to concentrate to make your blood circulate throughout your body, or focus so your brain will control all bodily needs. When it comes right down to it without God you would not only cease, but disintegrate.God is so essential to life that all things continue by Him, even you. Colossians 2:17 "And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist ". Even Satan who deceives mankind on a daily basis has his life because of God. You don 't want to make a bad choice like him or you will spend eternity in the lake of fire with him. Give God a chance to show you the truth and receive His son Jesus as your savior and you will understand what I am talking about. You questioned what happens after death, well you can only turn your eternal destiny around by asking Jesus to save you. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me ". If you continue as you are, you will end up in the lake of fire with Satan and everybody else that chose to ignore God. If you would like to go to heaven, leave me a message on this chapter, I will check it each day, your life is worth it. God made salvation simple, so we could get it. I will show you from the word of God no opinions needed.

God is a loving father that does not want any backslider to perish but looks for different ways to restore such back to the fold. However, if he or she rejects the way through which God wants to restore him or her to the fold; such a person will surely perish.

i just ignore GOD in my daily life, and feel proud that i can take care of all my needs by myself.but after death what will happen ?

People are taking things for granted. We need to turn to the lord and seek his face to avoid what is happening in today's life.
  • Geri on Amos 4 - 11 years ago
How long do we think God is going to put up with our disobedience. We take everything for granted, we don't give God any credit for all He's done for us now just like the children of Israel. He is showing us everyday that judgment is no joke and people we need to get it together now!
  • Mom on Amos 4 - 12 years ago
We so take for granted the food on our table; the stores having it and our ability to pay for it. Recent weather events across our nation's bread basket have made severe conditions for crops. The people in Bible times experienced famine as judgment on their nation for forgetting about God. Too much rain or not enough can have disastrous consequences. We need to get back to the Lord and remembering to thank Him and praise Him.
  • Guardian on Amos 4:9 - 12 years ago
Beginning in the 1960's we systematically eliminated God from our lands and replaced Him with "human rights". The price of departing from God is now being paid by not only traditional "Christian" countries, but also those who departed millennia ago. Upheaval will increase until our Father sends his first born Son back to earth to establish His Kingdom for everyone.
