What Did Jesus Say?

Who is Jesus? What did Jesus do? What did Jesus say?
When did Jesus live? Where did Jesus walk? Why did Jesus come here?

Words of Jesus: Everything Jesus said in the Bible

Acts Chapter 1

1:4 "but wait for the promise of the Father, which, ye have heard of me."

1:5 "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."

1:7 "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power."

1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Acts Chapter 9

9:4 "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"

9:5 "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."

9:6 "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do."

9:10 "Ananias."

9:11 "Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,"

9:12 "And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight."

9:15 "Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:"

9:16 "For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake."

Acts Chapter 11

11:16 "John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost."

Acts Chapter 18

18:9 "Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:"

18:10 "For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city."

Acts Chapter 20

20:35 "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Acts Chapter 22

22:7 "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"

22:8 "I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest."

22:10 "Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do."

22:18 "Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me."

22:21 "Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles."

Acts Chapter 23

23:11 "Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome."

Acts Chapter 26

26:14 "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."

26:15 "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest."

26:16 "But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;"

26:17 "Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,"

26:18 "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."

Note: quotes known to be specifically from Jesus are included in this list. Jesus's words repeated by others are not included. For example, in John 16:17-18 the disciples repeated Jesus's words and wondered what He meant by in "A little while." This phrase is not in red letters because it was the disciples speaking; when Jesus spoke it in John 16:16 it is marked in red. Those who helped in compiling the red letter text of Jesus's Words have done so carefully and prayerfully while comparing to other red letter Bibles, but some quotes are not simple to discern as there are no quote marks in the KJV translation. For example, Rev 22:17: "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come." For Rev 22:7, there is uncertainty whether Jesus said the latter part after the colon. Rev 21:6-7 "I am Alpha and Omega..." is a quote similar to Revelation 1:8, but Rev 21:7 indicates that the Father may be talking instead of the Son. We pray about each of these and that its presentation is helpful for study and does not hinder the reading or understanding of God's Word.
