Wesley's Notes for Zechariah 4:7

4:7 O great mountain - All opposers put together. Become a plain - Thou shalt sink into nothing. The head stone - Shall assist at the laying of the finishing stone, as he assisted when the foundation stone was laid. Grace, grace - Wishing all prosperity, and a long continuance of it, to the temple and those that are to worship God therein. As the free favour of God began, and finished, may the same ever dwell in it and replenish it.

The mountainous idol centers in the Indian plains will be leveled before our Lord Almighty through His spirit.Amen!
  • You know the Lord sometimes lets some things happen so that he can prove himself to his people how he is, by doing extraordinary things that the physical cannot do through his spirit and grace.

Impossible situations give way to the Spirit of God which brings favour to God's people. That's why the sea parted and the little hills skipped in panic (Psalm 114:1-8). They knew it was only that Spirit of grace, full of possibilities that could move them, and so they trembled. So let's decree grace because that's what gives edge over mountains, not physical might. Grace! Grace! Grace!
