Wesley's Notes for Zechariah 3:9

3:9 Behold - Behold (pointing to a particular stone) that stone which I have laid in the sight of Joshua. Upon one stone - On that stone are seven eyes, probably so placed, that they may look many ways; so it was a more exact emblem of Christ, and of his perfect knowledge and wisdom. I have removed - I have pardoned the iniquity of this land at once. The temple, founded on such a corner - stone, guarded and watched over by all - seeing Providence, is the blessing and honour of that people, whose sins are all forgiven.

Discussion for Zechariah 3

Vs. 1-5 - are speaking of the plan of God's future repentance for us. The filthy is our sin, the change of raiment is our new man - free from sin.

Take away his filthy garments!!!!! AMEN AND GLORY TO THE LAMB OF GOD '!

Perhaps the BRANCH in verse 8 is the same as the Redeemer in verse 20, chapter 59 of Isaiah. This may be Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit directing the Christian nations of the world. The Holy Spirit of God is the corner stone of righteousness which unites the Christian people that face Satan 's conflict. Perhaps the 7 eyes are 7 predominately Christian nations.

Verse3, garments do not always represent clothing in the Bible. In Isa. 59 verse 17 garments are vengeance. Perhaps Joshua was filled with hate and wanted vengeance when he faced the Lords angel. The emotion of vengeance must be removed before peace can be established.
