Dianne, Thank you!..I must confess I am a born again believer! I was curious to see what kind of answers would come back. I have been baptized in the only Name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved! God Bless! In Christ, Gerald.

Thank you Jesse, I really just wanted vs 58 of John you did great! the Jews picked up stone because Jesus just proclaimed to them to be God......He was. He robed Himself in the only begotten Son(flesh) and dwelt amongst them. Thanks again in Christ,Gerald,

ChrisE, thank you for responding! My friend I'm a little confused about your summary. You mentioned law/prophets lets begin there. I think it's safe to say that Moses was a prophet to be reckon with(according to old test. and new) that's what drove the Pharisees crazy about Jesus. According to "law" Jesus was behaving like a "mavrick" skirting around it but never breaking it always leaving them arguing among themselves about it. Well Jesus did say Matt. 5;17 I came not to destroy the law but fulfil it. Having said that lets take a look at what the law said about washing or baptizing. God told Moses the prophet in Exodus 30:15-17 that if the priest did NOT wash they were dead men. That was law. But fulfilling that law Jesus ( THE HIGH PRIEST) Hebrews 3:1-5 told John I need you to baptize me...(I'm going to the Altar{Calvary} eventually) and I need to be washed. If we are to be is followers, ambassadors, disciples, Christians or whatever and he(JESUS) was baptized shouldn't we then follow His example? In Christ, Gerald.

    Dianne,

Yes, amen! That's what it means to live by faith (PEITHO/Persuasion). We believe because it is His Spirit that persuades us to believe. Without His indwelling Spirit persuading us, we would be no different than those who are perishing, and it would all be foolishness to us ( 1 Corinthians 1:18).
  • Dianne - In Reply on Romans 8 - 2 years ago
Hi jesse In light of what you shared in Gospel of John 14: 8+9 you would think that after everything they eyewitnessed they got, thank God that they got it at pentecost and made available to us. To think we have never physically seen Him and we believe His word. That's always amazed me.

Gerald, my Precious friend, I'll take your question "2: How should we be baptized?" Better

is to first ask: Does God Require water baptism, today? IF yes, then find out "how."

IF not, then no need to find that out, Correct? Here is my "Summary study" on this Important Issue:

Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL: The Twelve Were Sent to water baptize!

The TWO Main, of 12 baptisms =

    A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli"priesthood!" ( Matthew 3:5-6) ( Mark 1:4) ( Luke 3:3) ( John 1:31) ( Luke 7:29-30) ( Acts 10:37) ( Matthew 28:19) ( Mark 16:16) ( Acts 2:38) ( Acts 22:16) ( Ezekiel 36:25) ( John 18:35) ( Exodus 19:6)

    +

    B) WITHThe Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for power, signs And wonders! ( Isaiah 44:3) ( Matthew 3:11) ( Mark 1:8) ( Mark 16:17-18) ( Luke 24:49) ( Acts 2:17-18) ( Acts 2:38) ( Acts 8:15-17) ( Acts 11:16) Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided ( 2 Timothy 2:15) From Things ThatDiffer!:

Mystery/GRACE! =our "apostle to the Gentiles" for The Body Of CHRIST:

Paul WasNot Sent to water baptize! Why Not?:

    Today: Only ONE Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION,Spiritually Identifying members Into The ONE Body Of CHRIST!! ( Ephesians 4:5) ( Colossians 2:12) ( Galatians 3:27) ( Romans 6:3-4) ( 1 Corinthians 12:13) MYSTERY/GRACE! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion: God's ONE Baptism Today? = ONEOR, EQUALS TWO?

Is it not Possible That God'sAnswer Of "No water baptism, for us Today," Under HIS Pure GRACE, absolutely "Solves" theMany Severely DIVIDED denominations' Confusion!?

Please be Richly Encouraged, enlightened, exhorted, and edified!

    Thank you Brother Jesse.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Romans 8 - 2 years ago
    Earl,

I believe all who have experienced a spiritual rebirth are one. We are one body in Christ Jesus. As far as your question goes, I can't say that I believe that.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Romans 8 - 2 years ago
    Amen and Amen, Brother Jesse:

In you last paragraph, you quoted Matthew concerning the Father and Jesus being ONE; WE will ALSO be ONE in them (not in the flesh we now suffer in, but when we have departed this flesh).

Do you BELIEVE we will be God in the same way both the Father is God and the Son is God?

I BELIEVE we will; but DIFFERENT GLORIES.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Romans 8 - 2 years ago
    Gerald,

It would take a lot of space to give you an answer to both these questions. I'll take question 1 and maybe someone else could help you out with the second question. John Chapter 8 is a very long chapter so I'll try and just give you a summary of the chapter unless you have specific questions on any of the verses in that chapter.

Verses 1-8 gives us the plot concerning the woman caught in adultery. Verses 12 through 20 gives us the proof of deity from witnesses. In verses 21 through 30, we see the perplexity over spiritual matters. And then in verses 31 through 59, we see the proof of conversion. If anyone wants proof that they are saved, just take a look at verse 31 which says, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed:"

Verse 58 is interesting. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Literally, before Abraham was in existence, I was already in existence, and always have been, the I AM of the Old Testament! These Jews knew who Jesus was claiming to be. That's why verse 59 says they took up stones to cast at Him.

My biblical explanation of John 14:8-9:

In verse 8, Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. It's like we've been hearing about your Father for three years, so show Him to us. You would think that maybe one of them had a girlfriend that said "Are you going to take me home to introduce me to your father? I haven't seen him. I haven't met him yet. We have been listening to you talk about your Father and that you speak His words, not your words, and that it is Him working in you, so show us the Father. Bring Him out!"

Then Jesus says in verse 9 that if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. In John 10:31, Jesus said I and the Father are one. And He is leading into teachings now that are going to say the Father and I, we are going to make our abode in you. I am in the Father, the Father in me, and we are going to be in you. We are going to be all one!

Hello!, I'm going to go ahead and give a disclaimer, I'm NOT a typist or a literary guru or an English major. I do have a couple of questions that I hope someone can clarify for me. Question 1; Biblically explain to me John 8;58 and John 14:8-9. Question 2; How should we be Baptized? In the name of titles?( Matt. 28;19)? or in the Name of Jesus, Acts;2;38, Acts 10;48,or Acts 19;1-6? Thank you for your time, In Christ, Gerald.

2nd Timothy chapter 2 vs 15 ,.. " study to show thyself approved unto God , a workman , ( or woman, no gender matters ) that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of TRUTH
  • Glenn - In Reply on Romans 8 - 2 years ago
I believe that a pastor or teacher of Gods word,.. can be a woman, just as much ( if not more at times ! ). There were many good women pastors an teachers, in the Bible,.. Debbie was definitely,. One to be told about,.. she not only taught, but she lead the army of Israel in to battle

    Part 2:

Then given to hospitality. The word hospitality comes from a compound Greek word that means to love or be fond of strangers. This does not mean to pick up strangers off the street and invite them into your home. Back then, the believers who were traveling from out of town, they were referred to as strangers. And other believers were to show hospitality by opening up their homes and giving these other believers a place to stay.

And lastly, apt to teach. And it literally means have the ability to teach. An overseer, and especially a pastor, must be able to teach God's word. Not give to wine means don't even be associated with it. Filthy lucre means do not desire or be greedy of shameful gain. So a person who is put in a position of leadership in the church should not desire the material things of the world.

Verse 4 says one that ruleth well his own house. So this tells us that this is a man and he has to be married. Verse 6 says not a novice. Some interpret novice as a new believer. But the word for novice has to do with agriculture. It has to do with a sprout that is growing out of the ground. It's the condition of early seedlings popping the sprouts up. They're young in their growth. The root system hasn't developed yet, and the plant is not old enough to bear fruit or the flower.

So the scripture says not a novice, lest having been puffed up with pride he shall fall into the judgment of the devil, condemnation of the devil. There's nothing that Satan loves more than to see a believer in their weakness fall into sin, right up in front of everybody because they're a leader in the church. And what Satan does is he brings condemnation down on that person.

    Linda,

The scripture does not make any mention of seminary school, but those going in the ministry should be well learned in the scripture before assuming such a role. Many go into the ministry often fail due to a lack of sound biblical knowledge. I would like to share what the biblical qualifications are for a pastor. I'll have to do this in two parts.

    Part 1:

A pastor must meet the biblical qualifications. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 gives instruction concerning overseers (Pastors). The King James uses the word bishop. It is the word EPISKOPOS and it is where we get our word Episcopalian from. EPI is over, and SKOPOS means to scope or to see. So a pastor is an overseer.

In Acts Chapter 20, the overseer is also interchangeable with elder and with pastor. The overseer (Pastor) is responsible for the overseeing of the church to make sure it functions in the order that God has it in. But verses 1-7 gives us the qualifications of a pastor.

First of all, he must be blameless, which means unimpeachable. He must be the husband of one wife. This tells us that a pastor must be a man. The Greek text reads a little differently. It reads "a one woman man." He must be a one woman man, faithful!

He must be vigilant. That means attentive, to be watching, because Satan is always on the prowl. Then it says sober. This has to do with sober mindedness. It has nothing to do with alcohol or that type of sobriety. It means to have a frame of mind that thinks in wisdom and facts according to God.

Next: to be of good behavior. Some people would be eliminated right there. But good behavior comes from the Greek word KOSMION, like cosmetics, and it means to have an orderly lifestyle, disciplined and orderly.

Hello Pastor Grant. If you are reading this, what is a good passage for someone who only see the enemy at work and thinks that is God's work. I told him that I hope before his days are over he can be a witness and confess God's work in his life. He was shocked I said that. I told him he is right where the enemy wants him. Fernanda

The book of Romans deals with this. Look at Gods victory at the end of Romans 8

And the Elect One shall in those days sit on My throne, And His mouth shall pour forth all the secrets of wisdom and counsel: For the Lord of Spirits hath given (them) to Him and hath glorified Him.

He shall be a staff to the righteous whereon to stay themselves and not fall, And He shall be the light of the Gentiles, And the hope of those who are troubled of heart.

All who dwell on earth shall fall down and worship before Him, And will praise and bless and celebrate with song the Lord of Spirits.

And for this reason hath He been chosen and hidden before Him, Before the creation of the world and for evermore.

And the righteous shall be in the light of the sun. And the elect in the light of eternal life: The days of their life shall be unending, And the days of the holy without number.

And they shall seek the light and find righteousness with the Lord of Spirits: There shall be peace to the righteous in the name of the Eternal Lord.

And the Lord of Spirits placed the Elect One on the throne of glory. And He shall judge all the works of the holy above in the heaven, And in the balance shall their deeds be weighed

For from the beginning the Son of Man was hidden, And the Most High preserved Him in the presence of His might, And revealed Him to the elect.

And from henceforth there shall be nothing corruptible; For that Son of Man has appeared, And Has seated Himself on the throne of His glory, And all evil shall pass away before His face, And the word of that Son of Man shall go forth

And be strong before the Lord of Spirits.

And the righteous and elect shall be saved on that day, And they shall never thenceforward see the face of the sinners and unrighteous.

And the Lord of Spirits will abide over them, And with that Son of Man shall they eat And lie down and rise up for ever and ever.

Brother Mitchell, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

When you came to the understanding that WE CAN DO NOTHING; but, Christ does all things for us. You will BE SET FREE.

You want have to achieve the hope set before you, Christ started it. he will complete it. In fact; Christ sees it as already COMPLETE. This is what is meant by coming INTO HIS REST; the works were completed before the foundations of the world were laid.

    Hebrews 4:3

    John 15:5

    Psalms 92:4-6

YOU have become ONE WITH CHRIST.

To Deborah Kuradal on Romans 8: God is perfect in masculinity. Jesus called Him His Father. Jesus even said, "Who is my mother, or by brother, or my sister...but they who do the will of My Father. God is not a man that He should lie. He is our Creator and God. Thank you Heavenly Father!
