The death of the old man is pictured so perfect in 1 Samuel chapter 25
read this story about a man named Nabal which is like our old nature and a woman named Abigail who is our new nature and the marriage to David or Christ after the death of Nabal

"But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." Romans 7:6 In a word, its not the Law that we needed deliverance from, but from ourselves under such a moral and spiritual condition from which the Law condemned us. Until there is a seeing eye, a hearing ear, and an understanding heart, and real repentance and conversion that dreaded Letter of the Law written in stone by the very finger of God, was our complete and utter doom. We are the ones that needed to be changed oh yes, much more than changed! We needed for the demand of the Law to be satisfied, yet we ourselves having a way to still live anew. God's nature cannot change so neither can His Law really change. But by His great love and understanding, the Lord was able to justify God's Law and still be merciful to save us.

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law perfectly when he was on earth. We are now under the Law of the Christ.

Servant of God; There is a true Proverb; "Knowledge is easy to him that understands." When we don't struggle so hard to fit the harder things into our preconceived views; and rather be still and listen to what the Spirit says; knowledge will work in harmony with our growing understanding. Honesty about ourselves, like the Publican compared to the Pharisee praying, cannot disqualify us from grace!

Casting down every thought and imagination that exalts itself...against the knowledge of Christ will eliminate the urge or temptation to carry out sins desires. Yes we are born of a sinful nature but sin does not have control over a born again child of God...no longer has power over us to obey it...no we no longer submit to sins demands..we are free to resist and live for God. Thank you Jesus!

Sorry but i see this roms 7 as a love triangle betwen Christ and the church and the LAW, Paul is saying you are dead to the law by the body of Christ that you should be MARRIED TO ANOTHER even to him that was rasied up from the DEAD and bring forth fruit unto God. Fits perfect to David Bathesheba n Uriah She was dead to Uriah/LAW by the body of David and Married another, now Christ is our husband.

Romans 7:14-15 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not but what I hate, that do I. Paul had sin, he knew how to deal with it, he would feed the new creature inside him which was the Holy Spirit. The more we read the Word of God, the lest we sin. The Word cleans good.

Paul described himself as a miserable man in verse 24 because he wanted to do what was right, but his imperfect flesh urged him to do otherwise.

If we keep our eyes on Jesus we will walk in victory but as long as we are clothed in this body of flesh there will be a battle to face. Thank God for the victory won through Jesus shed blood on Calvarys Cross. Stay close to the CRoss keep your eyes on Jesus and our struggles and battles will fade in the glorious victory of our Savior. Hallelujah 😊

    Rom 7:19,20

The apostle Paul describes the fight that he had, and that all other Christians have, and how, in spite of their best efforts, they will make mistakes, though not deliberately, insolently and willfully. The value of Christ's atonement sacrifice as applied for their sins, over which they repent and make confession, is the basis for their being declared righteous.

We are now living under Gods grace thru the blood of Jesus. Thanks to the blood of Jesus thru him we are pardoned our sins are cleansed and we are redeemed and forgiven Jesus is the perfect obedience to our Father therefore we must also obey God's words and worship him alone. Unless if we are not born again in spirit we cant please God and our flesh remains sinful. We must be born again in spirit
  • David on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
From law to grace,we still must do all we can to please God
  • Jim on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
Please don't misunderstand me. I have not arrived yet either just like you... and am not trying to compete with any other brother in Christ. I just have a burden to share some key items that have helped me along the way. Look to Christ and His precious written Word brothers and sisters. He will lead you and guide you into His truth! Bless Him! Bless Him!

The spirit warring with the flesh...but thank you Jesus!!!
  • James Townsend on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
For sin, taking occasion by the law, interesting. Christian liberty is good but what about the sinner are they to be tested by the law for an occasion to sin
  • BSP on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
I can sympathize with Paul in verse 21. I wish to do what is right, but the inherited imperfection and sin is within me.
  • A brother on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
  • Hector on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
Rom. 7:24,25 This is the final state of someone trapped in the law, this is the best they can do. To serve God with the mind but to live knowing they are bound by sin in the flesh. 8:1,2 This defines the true children of God being led (controlled) by the Spirit. For Paul, it is through the infilling and inner working of the Holy Spirit that believers will live overcoming lives free from sin.
  • Vincent Rea on Romans 7 - 7 years ago
We must have known that breaking Gods commandments was sinful before the law.

  • Lonnie P. McGallion on Romans 7 - 8 years ago
Wow. Verse 24 you find where a man repents as many have; like Jeremiah and Job ,of being a man. Of being a frail, falty, sinful, weak human. O WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM!!!! He(God) did that which I could not!!! He overcame flesh!!!! And thereby conquering death. Regardless of how perfect, I repent of being a unperfect human!!!! Full of failure. Wretched. God is so good!!!!
