we are all going to give an account to God,even those so called Christian who think they are perfect right now! I know I will give an account for how I live so I pray everyday that God will close my mouth,be my eyes, ears, and teach me more and more how to walk!
  • Mark on Romans 14:17 - 9 years ago
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. This scripture talks about eternal life which is a witness in the heart of man thoughts spirit to find that there 's no guilt in the heart, only peace, righteousness awareness of what want GOD wants, loves and hates and joy in the only Holy Ghost. peace which is not for a moment but forever. The peace that God gives is His words when they have settled in man 's heart. every time we enter into mediation on the cares of the world eg what to eat, drink and dress is like conversing with a thief who comes to steal away the word because the devil knows that 's the life of man unlike man that is the reason JESUS warned the disciples in the parable of the sower. always live one day at a time knowing at the end of the day you have to give account to GOD "What word of Mine did you walk in " that 's the reason JESUS for man to fulfil the Word of GOD.

Grace works good through mankind. God is faithful. Holy Spirit is helping. For those who believe in him, he gave them power to be called the children of God. Let the weak say I am strong, says the Lord.
  • Peter on Romans 14:6 - 9 years ago
The day is obviously talking about the saturday sabbath. In the OT God the father demanded that people take a time off with there animals etc so that the day may focus on Him.This Law was applicable for the followers until death. This law along with 9 others written on stone remains applicable even today right up until the death of that person, just as a husband is bound to his wife til death. After which that covenant no longer applies. See Romans 7.After this death through Christ.Jesus now becomes Lord of the sabbath. He brings that TRUE sabbath rest into you 24 7 ,Sabbath rest is fulfilled in Him now and the believer cannot rest in Him more or Get closer to. Him on one set day.Every day from that death in Christ is the true sabbath rest in Him.You therefore CANNOT make one day holier than another.Again I stress read the last half of Romans 7.Not one jot or tiddle changes with those 10 commandments they stay in place UNTIL you die in Christ. At that moment the law is fulfilled in your life not done away with
  • Olgar Mbota on Romans 14 - 10 years ago
yes sometimes people live by judgilg others than observing the commanments of God. verses 16 17, clearly gives a strong guideline to this selferighteousness. For the kingdom of heaven is not about food and drinks and so goes to certain believes. But in everything we do, do it in the will of God.

  • Niyi Amuda on Romans 14:12 - 10 years ago
Romans 14:12 is one of the Scriptures that talks about one giving account to God. I love this verse especially because of the words used here so that even a child would understand its meaning.

It says, 'every one' shall give account to God. When God says everyone I think He means everyone. I don't know what you think, but know from this verse that God's judgment is not only for a category of persons - I like to combine the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:10, where by divine inspiration said, '...we all must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ...'

take note beloved that it is a MUST. So, whether you believe God's Word is true or not, whether you attend church or not, whether you believe in God or not, YOU'LL STAND BEFORE GOD WHEN YOU DIE.

Remember Hebrews 9:27? It is appointed unto man once to die and after this THE JUDGMENT. You can be living in sin now and think God isn't going to judge you. You may even assume there is no God (for that makes you a fool), you may think you get away with all your sins. You'll escape God's judgment with your intellect - forget it!

You're wasting your time. You cannot deceive God. He will open your secret life to everyone that day and He will judge you justly according to His high standard of holiness, righteousness and truth ( Hebrews 4:13).

Make your ways right with God lest you appear before Him unprepared and unconverted, there is no mercy on the second side of eternity. Think eternity! Think God!

Hebrew 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever.(either sabbath/sunday)
  • Prophet T.K.O OLOIDI on Romans 14:17 - 10 years ago
As regenerated Christians, we need to go after things and activities that will add values to our spiritual lives and enable us to grow rapidly in the Spirit. We should push more for spiritual food(WORD OF GOD) and water(BAPTISM) as well as FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT rather than eating always which may even lead to the sin of glutony.
  • Jeremiah on Romans 14:17 - 10 years ago
Paul gave an in depth inspirational explanation of what God was saying in Deut 8.3 and what Jesus said in Mat 4.4; that man shall not live only be bread alone, but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of the God. Not just meat and drink, but consciously living by the word, by faith, in the spirit and by the law of the spirit.
  • Keith Denson on Romans 14:5 - 10 years ago
The Most High allowed people to be spiritually blinded and it is our job not to argue about clean or unclean meats because it is not their time to know the truth. There will be a time when the Most High will reveal the truth to those people who have never heard of the truth and whoever rejects the truth of the Most High will be sent to the lake of fire.

  • Jeff on Romans 14:14 - 11 years ago
Paul advocates tolerance of those who insist on regarding meat and drink potentially defiled by idolatry as koinos (common), he himself is convinced that no food is koinos.
Unfortunately the passage is almost universally misapplied to laws of clean and unclean animals as if Paul said that nothing is unclean (akathartos) in itself. He did not. He did not use the Greek equivalent for unclean; he used the equivalent for common. There is a huge difference between the two. His statement that nothing is unclean in itself is completely unrelated to the laws of clean and unclean animals. It is a question of whether or not food is permissible when it might potentially have been offered to an idol. As in Corinthians, he warns his readers not to let their liberal interpretation of food sacrificed to idols become a stumbling block to others. The passage in Corinthians mentions wine as one of the questionable foods. Biblical dietary laws never speak of unclean wine. Wine is a koinos issue, not a clean/unclean issue!!
  • Nita on Romans 14 - 11 years ago
The tendency of man to focus on things that are external more than internal or spiritual is the core of this verse. However, Paul lets them know that its not physical food/environment but the state of being right with God and possessing His peace and His joy that transforms us into kingdom dwellers.
  • Shingie on Romans 14 - 11 years ago
It is profitable to listen to our conscience because our conscience tells us what is right or wrong.
  • Joe on Romans 14:23 - 11 years ago
    Frightning !!
  • Timothy Wayne George on Romans 14 - 12 years ago
We must be careful not to judge our brothers, and sisters in the Lord. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind about what he is to eat or drink. We must not cause one to stumble by what we do, and if eating meat or drinking wine causes our brother to stumble we should not do it. Paul tells us we will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, therefore we must be careful how we live as christian for God will call us to give an account of our lives. Let us look for the Kingdom of God which is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
May the Lord bless you richly my beloved.
