In reply to Adam's, "... I personally do not believe people go to the Lord upon death, but sleep until judgment day, based on scriptures I've read....." I wish to point out that Jesus Himself told us what happens to ALL people upon death, Luke 16:19-31 AND ESPECIALY the rich man's request to send Lazarus to his father's house to preach the Gospel BUT Abraham rebukes and responds that they would not believe a simple beggar EVEN THOUGH he knew the truth and died in it. Bible students believe the rich man was not named because the people at that time knew him before his death. Jesus would not speak these things if they were not true. He wants us to be content and with HOPE (not a wish but rather a firm belief) in death. If the rich man was able to identify Lazarus across v26: "... a great gulf fixed.." then I believe Lazarus was also able to identify friends and family on BOTH SIDES of the "gulf", ALL waiting for the final judgement, Revelation 20:11, "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them." AND Revelation 20:15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." - this is the SECOND DEATH, it is eternal. For as long as we will be with Christ, so they will be with satan (his name is not worthy to qualify for the capitalization of the s). Amen.

The world cannot understand the distinction between "hating sin" and "hating sinners". I hate Roman Catholicism (because it leads their believers to hell) BUT I love Roman Catholics AS COMMANDED by God.

I've been reading Romans lately and think it's dense with spiritual meat. It explains many topics believers often struggle with like works and faith. God bless!

    Wesley's Notes for Joel 2:28

2:28 Afterward - After the return out of Babylon, after the various troubles and salvations by which these may know that I am the Lord. I will pour - In extraordinary gifts on the first preachers of the gospel, and in various graces to all believers. Upon all flesh - Before these gifts were confined to one particular nation; but now they shall be ENLARGED to all nations, and all that believe. Shall prophesy - This was in part fulfilled according to the letter in the first days of the gospel; BUT the promise means farther, by pouring out of the spirit on your sons and your DAUGHTERS, they shall have as full a knowledge of the mysteries of God's law, as prophets before time had. Shalt dream dreams - This also was literally fulfilled in the apostles days. But it may mean farther, the knowledge of God and his will, shall abound among all ranks, SEXES and AGES in the Messiah's days, and not only equal, but surpass all that formerly was by prophesy, dreams, or visions.

Mishael comment: (no offense intended). This prophesy is a call of God on people's lives. It's holy and should be treated thus so. It is not a license to behave unorderly in the House of God. You give your life and ministry to the Lord and He will make a way for you. There are no small beginnings, but we need to make some mistakes so the anointing of the Holy Spirit will fall upon The Word being taught or preached. He is your Teacher and "coach". See some examples first. I rather like Iverna Tompkins sermons on YouTube. She came to my church for some days. When the ANOINTING is from God, you can tell.

Lead some Bible studies; get some evangelism experience; all very useful. Study to show yourself approved...unto God! Prayer is your bedrock of strength. The Prayer Room on this website is great, to grow your prayer life.

Get closer to the Holy Spirit.'

Hello Dianne. One could ask your question in the opposite way: why didn't Paul admonish & discipline the NT Church for not obeying the 4th Commandment? I can't ever recall reading about that happening. I say this assuming you believe that the Church did worship on the First day of the Week; some Christians today believe that the NT Church still held onto a Sabbath worship.

Also, I could ask: do you see any reason between Jesus & the Jewish people observing the 4th Commandment as a day of rest & attending to religious duties, & then a sudden switch in worship times & styles, post crucifixion & resurrection?

And a further related question, seeing this is question about the Law: did not Paul himself write, in 2 Corinthians 3:6-11, concerning the New Testament (Covenant), that the Spirit of this Testament brought life to all unlike the Letter of the Law which only brought death? That was the purpose of the Law: to show the Jews God's Standards of behaviour & their inability to fully attain to it. Even though the Glory of the Law was tremendous, how much more is the Glory of the Spirit's Ministry. And that which was once glorious, God had chosen to do away with, so that the Glory of the New Covenant energized by the Life-giving Spirit, would excel in Glory. Here, Paul is showing the incompatibility between the Law which was given on tables of stone, to the Law of the Spirit, which is written upon the tables of our hearts; & specifically applied & written to believing Jews ( Hebrews 8:7-13).

Sadly, the Old Testament Law today is still called upon as a measure of one's obedience to the Lord. And sadder still, when that 'obedience' is used against other Christians who choose to observe the 1st Day of the Week as their day of worship (& maybe rest). Let us not judge one another, but that "every man be persuaded (convinced, believing) in his own mind".

You are so correct in why there arent stands made against the meek behavior in this sinful behavior but, I am believing that Jesus died for all kinds of folks and the purpose of holding our tongues or judgment, Jesus also with God hoping they will find the love He has for them? Jesus suffered so we might love and hate the sinner....if we hate the sinner then how can we love and witness to them? Jesus said to the disciples in so many words, go get all kinds and I will do the sorting later. Amen !
  • Dianne on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
Did Paul give permission to Greeks and all Gentiles to worship on Sunday first day of the week, as the Sabbath? If not, then why do preaching Pastors on Sunday preach its ok to break the 4th Commandment?....Jesus worshipped on the Sabbath sundown/Saturday

    Ty for your honesty.
  • Fred Scanlan - In Reply on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
The times now were probably not much different when Paul preached to the Romans. Also he is clear when suggesting we should not judge these who are living in this apostacy! He comes out against it while at the same time we should concern ourselves with believers in the church! Growing in the knowledge of Christ, converting both Jews and gentiles. I am looking for his judgment at any moment! While satan is teaching hate in our schools harming the children, I pray for his judgment on man!

I am very disappointed that Christians simply cannot report the Lord is speaking of homosexuality in Romans chapter I. Many homosexuals need plain truth, and not a Christian Community whom skirt around this terrible abomination! Many of these people will never change his/her sexual behavior. However, should PLAIN Truth convert, and save one person from eternal hell plain truth is worth the back lash!!

Hello, I've heard that repeated a lot, but the Bible doesn't say that.

Paul said he would "rather" be absent from the body and with the Lord. It doesn't say in 100% of all cases, every time, that when someone is not alive that they are with the Lord. Big difference. I personally do not believe people go to the Lord upon death, but sleep until judgment day, based on scriptures I've read. God bless...

  • Roy Winner on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
Were in the bible does it say "absent from the body present with the Lord"
  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
The statement "He forgave us all our sins, past, present and future" is not Biblical. I've heard it before but it's not in the Bible. There is a verse stating He died for our "past" sins. If we are faithful in following Him we always have forgiveness if we mess up and confess. Stay humble. To me showing we have a clean slate to live a new life in the Lord. Not living in willful sin thinking Grace shall take effect. If your living in worldly sin Repent. Strive to live Holy not worldly.

Romans 3:24-25 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

    Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are PAST, through the forbearance of God;

Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    God Bless.
  • Linda on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
I'm glad I won't be forgiven on the basis that I have forgiven others. That is Law not Grace. We are now forgiven because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. He forgave us all our sins, past, present and future. That is Grace. Now we forgive because we were forgiven not to gain forgiveness. The Law was given by Moses. God raised up Paul to preach Grace to Gentiles who were - "with out Christ, being ALIENS from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world" Ephesians 2:11-12.

When you read the Bible take note of who it is addressing. We were not told to sacrifice animals, build an ark, keep Jewish holidays, etc. that was under the Law of Moses. We are saved by faith alone. Romans 4:4; Colossians 2:14; Galatians 2:20.

The truth is scary...only the Lord can fix this...no man should be called on to correct the problems we face today ... for they know what their plans are! He is waiting for YOU to call on HIM! He is our only hope.

May, 2021...I see our world when I read these verses in Romans. The common folk now even deem this rampant sin, of all types, to be good.

People that I have known and loved since childhood now think I am a "hateful" person because I don't agree with their worldly views which have become more worldly over the decades based upon what the TV says or what their kids learn in college....it is painful to watch.

    Hi sir,

My synopsis related to this scripture. God bless.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Romans 1:31 - 2 years ago
Danise, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in times past ye (we) walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Ephesians 2:3 Among whom ALSO WE ALL had our conversation in times past in the lust of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of our flesh and of the mind; and were by NATURE the children of wrath, even as others.

1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect; yet NOT THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD, nor of the PRINCES OF THIS WORLD, that come to nought:

1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the WISDOM OF GOD in a mystery, even the hidden WISDOM, which God ORDAINED BEFORE THE WORLD unto OUR glory.

1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of THE PRINCES OF THIS WORLD knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Paul said God made him an example to all men. Paul was zealous for killing God's people. When ones appointed time from God comes; GOD WILL CAUSE YOUR WILL TO BECOME HIS WILL just as he did to Paul. WE were all born into IGNORANCE. We ALL killed CHRIST; and whatsoever you are doing to God's children you are doing unto Him.

Ephesians 1:11 .....according to the purpose of HIM who WORKETH ALL THINGS after the counsel of HIS WILL...

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (SPIRIT) WHO WORKETH in you BOTH (you and Christ) to will and to do of HIS good pleasure.

Proverbs 16:6 By MERCY and TRUTH iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men DEPART FROM EVIL.

God's works and will; WILL BE DONE.

This goes much deeper than marriage and divorce. These people have no fruit. They have no commitment or love. They make promises, they can't keep. They hate GODs plan and are wanderers like Cain. They were given up on by GOD himself. What an awful thing? No mercy at all. Selfish and self absorbed. If it doesn't benefit them then there's no benefit. A doctor may diagnose them as a narcissist but GOD simply calls them wicked or unrighteousness.
  • Janice E Nichols on Romans 1 - 2 years ago
This writing of the Apostle Paul is so true of today; women working that which is against nature, and men drawn by their lust toward one another. This is a sign of the end time. Those that in their heart knowing what God has ordained for man they look for ways to please themselves not God, because don't believe in God. Searching out ways to stop the mouths of Christians due to the fact it convicts them of sin and seeking others to run with them and do the will of the flesh and walk into Satan's plan for destruction of man kind who was created in the image of God and for His pleasure. Oh how close the day of the Rapture is for those who are looking for His, (Jesus') appearing. Even so come, Lord Jesus...
