This part reveals the truth behind every unnatural affection; that means before a guy can start lusting after man of his kind he has sinned against God and his heart has been opened for demon to pour thoughts into
  • Rev. Autrey on Romans 1:18 - 10 years ago
(Verse 18) "But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people ..." The thought of this verse is that all of us are this way. "You may be saying, "What terrible people you have been talking about! But you are just as bad," Paul says in Romans 2:1. This means that even when we do good according to human standards, we are still doing evil in the eyes of God.

This is hard for us sinful people to understand because any sense we make of it comes from an evil heart that is always rebellious to God. What I am saying is, man's heart is locked into evil, meaning that any so called good man does is always done with an evil intent.

Paul says that, yes, we know there is a God, but our evil hearts won't acknowledge him, nor will they do what he says. "They are backstabbers, haters of God. ..."

But God has put the ability in the hearts of men to repent and turn to him in faith. That's why Paul says that our salvation is acomplished from start to finish by faith, and not good works.

  • Josh on Romans 1 - 10 years ago
@Stacy Upchurch- I would like to commend your excellent understanding of Jesus' teachings. It's so easy to get carried away with hate and judgement, and easy to forget that Love, and treating one another with Love is probably the essence of God's commandments.

    Awsome book
  • Rev. Autrey on Romans 1 - 10 years ago
"I thank God through Jesus Christ." In this statement Paul is expressing this fact: God is the entity and Jesus is his personality. This is important because Paul mentions 2 other personalities of God, the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Personality is the way you express your self. That is, God expresses himself as Jesus when he speaks to us. That's why all 4 Gospels tell us about the life and work of Jesus, the life and work of God on the earth. In other words, they tell us how God in human flesh came into his own creation, and died for the sins of the world.

As the Christman song says, "O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransome captive Israel. ..."

    Emmanuel means God with Us!
  • Rev. Autrey on Romans 1 - 10 years ago
Jesus is referred to as God's Son. But being God's Son does not keep him from being God anymore than being the Son's Father keep the Father from being God.

We get confused because we think of a father and son in human terms. That is, in human terms a son is separate from his father. But God is not human and we must not look at him that way. God is ONE BEING from eternity, having 3 distinct self identities or personalities. And we must never forget this.

Personality or self expression is purely mental. And as we know, to attribute certain qualities of character to one's self does not take up any space or change who you are. That is, if you want to see yourself in 3 distinct ways, you can. And so does God.

Roman 1:14-Paul states he himself is in debt to both the Greek & Barbarians; to the wise & unwise because he owe himself to God & to man.

He owes for the crimes that he committed as Saul and he owes Christ for the tansformation of his mind. Paul enbraced his duties to lead the unwise to the light of Christ; to the wise he provided teaching & support, so much so that he would endure the same abuse that he once inflicted.

Faith in our risen Lord Jesus, and His finished works(not our works) His (finished) works on the cross. is all we need, then Grace steps in and we are forever sealed with the Holy spirit.and the Holy spirit takes over and helps us to grow in grace. we will never be perfect,in this world there is sin and we will fall but Gods Love and Grace will never ever leave us!! we are sealed with the Holy spirit. there is now NO condemnation to those who love Christ!! AAAAAAmen!!! read the hole book of Romans starting with chapter 8 and pray asking the Lord for His truth and understanding His word.
  • Osodi Abimbola on Romans 1:32 - 10 years ago
When someone refuses to sin but sees nothing wrong in such or rather encourage d practice, it's just like not drinking poison but hailing d person drinking d poison; which = not wanting to go to hell while aiding those heading there.
This is evil cuz it means wasting the grace of GOD by making ppl move ****her away from HIM.
  • Janice Brown on Romans 1:27 - 10 years ago
My Thoughts: For it is written, this thing is an act of abomination to God, this is there own evil thoughts, lustful minds, evil deeds. Although God loves them, he hate their evil ways. THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO BE SAVED FROM THIS UNNATURALNESS IS TO BE BORN AGAIN. Take off the old man putting on the new. Becoming Christ-like, it will no longer be you, but Christ in you who will strengthen you to do and become righteous being. AMEN!!
  • GBMAC on Romans 1 - 10 years ago
The whole book of Romams vividly confirms, as other Scriptures, that success in life is truly the ability to appreciate righteousness, obtain it and continually remain in it until the end of time! Righteous living is the only 'Service Level Agreement' (SLA) acceptable between the Holy God and man.

If one sees a magnificent building, one knows there is an architect. It is natural wisdom. Likewise, when one observes nature and all the facets of it, one must admit there is an architect - a builder and maker. Once again, it is natural wisdom. To deny these truths is foolishness.

  • Mr. David Vopal on Romans 1 - 10 years ago
Romans chapter one is, I believe, a portrait of Gods infinite righteousness. In these opening verses of the Book of Romans, we are introduced to the righteous God-man who planned, designed, promised and fulfilled His glorious Gospel. We also meet Paul a man who was made righteous by that Gospel. In these verses, we discover the power of God to keep His promises; resurrection power to bring life out of death; and salvation power to all who believe.
The apostle Paul represents all true believers who first encounter the power of God to transform lives and the objectives of God. Someone has said, A believer is one who has an on-going desire to do the will of God from the heart. The first chapter of Romans certainly indicates that fact. Here, in the opening verses of the Book of Romans we are given a picture of what a believer looks like spiritually; and why she or he does what they do.
This is a wonderful example of how a believer serves God and man by submitting to the will of God, and too thankfully and tirelessly brings the message of the true Gospel: even if it is, only an unspoken message lived out by a good example shown to others.
May God richly bless you, and thank you?

@Cisco. Hello, I hope all is well with you. I'm not certain of your motivation for posing the question but I will respond with the hope that you will better understand the passion and truth behind the gospel of Jesus . Now, I will simply say that the chapter and specified verses you referenced are in fact used (as well as many others) by some (and not all) Christians as a witness and testament that salvation through Jesus Christ is available to ALL who believe and NOT just to the Jew, Greek or Roman. Paul is exhorting All Christian believers to be a witness of God's salvation through Jesus Christ. The book of Romans in and of itself is both an instructional guide so to speak for Christian conduct and for appropriately spreading the gospel unto salvation to Gentiles. If you continue further on in the remaining verses, you will see that. As far as scriptural reference, I infer that the whole book of Romans attests to what i said. I don't debate scriptures for argument sake especially since there are those who doubt the existence and sovereignty of Yahweh and Yeshua anyway. For it is the Father who calls those unto repentance by His grace and love. It is His mercy that circumvents our destruction when we deserve it. God bless you my friend.

Do I lie if I say Romans 1 is an Epistle, a letter to the church at Rome? Why then does the Christian world--DIRECT-sinners to Romans 10:9-10 for the purpose of accepting Christ as their Savior??? All of Romans, the complete book are letters, Epistles to SAVED FOLKS. Could some one explain--why this has been done for hundreds of years???? I would love to hear a SCRIPTURAL answer.
  • Butchie on Romans 1:16 - 10 years ago
I believe we christians should climb atop the telephone poles and 'shout out' this 'Good News' to the people of this world. So many are hungrily seeking the truth but they are being led astray.
Where there is no truth, the people will believe a lie. There are now many anti-christ in this world doing all they can to suppress the teaching of 'The Good News', The Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is much that needs to be done, the fields truly are 'ripe unto the harvest', ready to be saved. How can they be saved,? except they hear the Gospel, how can they hear except someone preach and teach it to them. Who will say ' here am I oh Lord, send me, I will go '? Preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

re: William Schuler's comment on 2012-02-02....
Please read the previous verse ( Romans 1:27) which DOES speak of women. You can argue away the truth if you don't have a love for it and a true desire to love and please God but rather a to please your flesh. But this does not change the truth or God, just your judgement on that final day! Please also read 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12.

Putting aside fears, prejudices, resentments and hatreds and showing Christian love and compassion for all people is the mark of true children of God. Anger, hatred, harsh words, retaliation and revenge only result in more of the same.
Only love can conquer evil ( Romans 12:17-21).

I agree with what God says! Whatever he says that settles it!!! Its not what man says, think or feel that matters its what he (God) says. Heaven and earth shall pass away but the word of God shall stand!!!
