Wesley's Notes for Romans 8:23

8:23 And even we, who have the first - fruits of the Spirit - That is, the Spirit, who is the first - fruits of our inheritance. The adoption - Persons who had been privately adopted among the Romans were often brought forth into the forum, and there publicly owned as their sons by those who adopted them. So at the general resurrection, when the body itself is redeemed from death, the sons of God shall be publicly owned by him in the great assembly of men and angels. The redemption of our body - From corruption to glory and immortality.

People's Bible Notes for Romans 8:23

Ro 8:23 Not only [they], but ourselves also. Not only does the world groan, but Christians, though they have the firstfruits of the Spirit, a pledge of a rich and full harvest, groan. There is an eager longing for the fuller enjoyment promised. Waiting for the adoption. We are already adopted children, but rather in expectation that in realization. We have not received the inheritance, the full "revealing of the sons of God" (Ro 8:19, Revised Version). The redemption of our body. When the full adoption comes, we will not have these poor, frail, dying bodies, subject to weakness, sinfulness and decay, but spiritual bodies. "For in this we do groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven" (2Co 5:2).

Romans 8 is the crown jewel of the Bible. It tells us all we need to know of this life. Even though there is a spiritual battle going on in the world, and in our lives, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. If God be for us, who can be against us. Remember the Holy Spirit is not an it, but He is the third Person of the Godhead.

Amen, thank you Jesus! I have repented, with much remorse, for the many things I said and did when I was younger and foolish. I wish I could go back and fix it all, especially for one individual. Way back when we were in elementary school, I did apologize for what I did. as I was deeply sorry. She accepted it, but our friendship was over as her family did not want us to be friends anymore. I don't blame them, as it was all my fault. I was afraid of the ones who bullied her and instead of fighting them off, I joined in because I was so afraid of them they too, bullied me , but that is NO excuse. I wish I could go back and fight them, even if it meant getting myself beat up for it. I would have gladly taken a punch in the nose for her. For over fifty years I have been ashamed and full of guilt, and begged God's forgiveness. I just hope my former friend has a wonderful, blessed life, full of love and God's goodness, and is truly happy.

So you are neither free to keep sinner because Jesus was the sin nearer. And you keep sinning throughout your lifetime. And you are neither free from dying because we all keep dying. And we are neither free from keeping the law because Jesus himself keep the Law ,that he came not to abolish but to fulfill from Genesis chapt.2:1,Exodus 20:where God himself wrote the 10 commandment Laws with his own finger, And Revelation 22:14, where keeping Gods Law is your ticket into Heaven. So we HAVE to keep the law of God and not the Mosaic law the kiiing of sheep etc. to appease for our sins, because the good shepherd died she'd blood himself instead of sheep dying anymore.Therfore all we have to do is pray kneeling ,bowing, laying prostrate on the ground ,or just calling on the name of the Ultimate Sheep-that. was sacrificed

Romans 3 says there is nobody who is righteous or seeks after God. Jesus said none can come to him unless they are called by the Father. Satan has blinded the minds of all of the children of Adam. Romans 8:29-30 gives the solution to get people saved. Before the creation He predestinated people at random to be able to hear and understand the gospel when HE calls and we decide to reply to Him
