Discussion for Romans 16:22

  • Ian Dawson on Romans 16:22
In my understanding Paul wrote this epistle,

Why in this verse do we read . I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in ten Lord. ?

    Thanks Ian..

It says I Tertius, and Tertius is a slave name. And the name Tertius means three. Many of the lower class slaves were numbers. They were not names.

It says I Tertius, who wrote this epistle. He was Paul's amanuensis. Paul dictated the letter to Tertius. I salute you in the Lord.

So Paul let him. Paul said go ahead, if you want to greet him, put in your own greeting, number 3!
