"He that overcomes shall inherit all things and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." When the Lord Jesus began to teach His disciples about the kingdom of heaven He was expounding on the same things as He was preaching in the Synagogues all across the Country. He was the Glad Tidings of Salvation come in the flesh, to give His life a ransom and save us from our sins and to teach us by word and example what we must do in order to be found worthy of really and finally obtaining the benefit. "If ye love me, keep my commandments and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever even the Spirit of truth.." We who believe in Jesus, love Him and we work out our salvation with fear and trembling, to stay true to Him, and to be a light for others to see Jesus in us. God made us to be His children. Sin has polluted our conscience, marred the image of God in our character, and made us unfit for His presence. Sin brought us death, and works out death in us. The Lord Jesus Christ was manifested to take away our sins and reconcile us to God and has given us His Spirit into our hearts to help us do the work of changing into that man or woman after God's own heart, as He originally intended for us to be.

Jesse, we don't have to wait for that answer Acts 1:25, 26 gives us the biblical account KJV "That he may take part in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. v26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. Matthias was chosen by the Holy Ghost. Praise God!

Ernest Foster, when you pray, pray to God the Father, and when you end your pray, say in Jesus' holy name I pray. Amen
  • Cynthia Stubbs on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
We had a speaker to come in for Wednesday night Bible study, who had revelation that the New Jerusalem will be within us:vs 2
  • A disciple on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
Ernest Foster; the Father isn't jealous if you pray to His Son, but Jesus Himself tells us that the Father Himself loves us, and praying to Him in Jesus' name He hears. The Father is greater than all, and the Son has told us that He Himself is subject to the Father; and that He sits at the right hand of the Father in His throne, interceding for us. Does that help you?
  • A disciple on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
Ernest; Its pretty easy to find out what the conversion is for furlongs to miles; 12,000 furlongs is 1500 miles. My only question is whether that is all the way around, or on each side "foursquare." A cubit is 18 inches, or, the length between your inner elbow to the end of your middle finger. So the wall being 144 cubits is 216 feet high and the length of each side of the city probably 375 miles.

WILL YOU PLEASE TELL ME////IN FEET OR MILE,S HOW LARGE GOD CITY IS.//// AND MOST OF MY LIFE I HAVE BEEN PRAYING TO JESUS////WHO SHOULD I PRAY TO ? PLEASE TELL ME.//I KNOW JESUS SAYS THE WAY TO THE FATHER IS THOUGH HIM.
  • A disciple on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
Twelve thousand furlongs is 1500 miles, and the wall 216 feet high. Is that 1500 miles on each side? That would be about from San Diego to Calgary in one direction; and from S.D. to Houston in the other; making a total land area of 2,250,000 square miles. Or is it a total 1500 miles all the way around? Otherwise its 375 miles on each side. Anyone have some thoughts about that?

Rev. 21:14 we have to wait for the new heaven and Earth to finally know for sure the answer to one of the great perplexing questions of the last two thousand years... Was the twelfth apostle indeed Paul or Matthias...
  • Irene123 on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
Fonz - Of course v. 4 is speaking of heaven; the NEW heaven 'n earth, not this one. Because v. 1 refers to a new heaven and earth - we just refer to the whole of it as heaven.
  • Fonz on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
In the verse it says "death will be no more"... Obviously it isn't talking about heaven because there is no death in heaven.it speaks about a new Paradise earth.

God is real and loving come to God for he has made Jesus our Savior
  • Marshal on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
One of my favorite passages is Revelation 21:7. For myself, as saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, this is a three-fold promise: 1) I will inherit all things. 2) God will be my God. 3) I will be God's son.

This is for eternity. What an amazing thought. If it were able, even time itself would not be able to keep up with God's love to us.

    Right on LaVonne!!!
  • Irene123 on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
People need to quit worrying about when the dead will rise and before or after this 'n that - and look to their own salvation.
  • Bible Reader on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Hi LaVonne Re: Pat, I can understand why you might have reason to think these things described have not 'really' happened yet, but what about at the very start of the book where we are told they must shortly come to pass? Also, I don't think you are considering the sort of literature this is, it's apocalyptic. The book is often referred to as the Apocalypse of St. John.
  • LaVonne on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Hi Pat, All believers-saved mankind will be in the first resurrection. The rest of the dead will be
raised after the 1,000 years are finished. Saved mankind from the first resurrection will reign
with Christ for that 1,000 years. Rev 20:5,6. I take this scripture literally. Nothing like this has
happened yet, the 1,000 years are yet to come, after the Tribulation and The Day of the LORD.
  • LaVonne on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Hi Pat, Rev 20 The believers-saved will be in the first resurrection. That is why they are
    blessed
  • JP on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Hi Peggy. It depends on your position on the timing of this prophecy. Some hold that the millennium is still yet to begin. These are usually referred to as Dispensationalists or Futurists. Others that it began at sometime during the first century, close to or not long after John's writing. These as often referred to as Preterists. There are also various other, usually in between, positions.
  • Pat on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
confused by Rev. 20 we have not gone thru the thousand years yet? Will the dead rise first, or are they to remain dead a thousand years yet?
  • Bruce on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
J: You are right! You are nothing, but you can be changed and made into? You can only answer when someone calls: John 6:44, you can be Baptized with the Holy Ghost and Fire:Matthew3:11,Then you "will know" 2Corinthians 5:17
  • Wayne on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
J, do you have scriptures for your statement, man is nothing and never will be anything?
  • Mari on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
We must be born again. Jesus said
  • J on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Man is nothing, and man shall be nothing forever forgetting the tree of life and that's a fact.
  • Mwendt on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
In Matthew 22:30 Jesus says "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."
  • Sabbath keeper and Wife on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
Mark 12:24-26- we will be like angels(spiritual bodies) and will know, and love those we did. God wouldn't take that from us, but life and relationships will be different from what we comprehend. We can't. Carnal (flesh) thought will be replaced with righteous understanding and pure love, like God's for us (in Heb. called HABAB) It'll be beautiful to say the least.
  • Irene123 on Revelation 21 - 7 years ago
To Priscilla on Rev.21 -- Read Acts ch. 2, but PRAY first for Jesus to open your (spiritual) eyes. Take note of vs. 37-38.
