Verse 8 the beast that was and is not and yet is means a nuclear war. The nuclear warhead is and when exploded is not and yet is when nuclear fallout continues to kill people around the globe by traveling on the Jetstream. The whole world will be deceived according to the Word; however a few will come out of the deception taught by Babylon( the traditional Christian Church). The world does consist of seven continents, including all people. Jesus said the Word ( truth) will go out to the whole world, then the end will come, but few will be saved. Always amazed how the Angle of the Lord in Revelation explains the meaning in Chapter 17. However, thank God, the world is not able to understand it's true meaning. Revelation to me seems to be a book where it's contents cannot be understood unless one is "Born Again" and understand the role of the Holy Spirit in understanding scriptures. Spiritual interpretation, (revealing and guiding into all truth) is one aspect I love when reading scriptures and God's confirmation with it's meaning. Yes, we are in a spiritual war with dark forces in high places, but must be "wise as serpents but gentle as doves, (A.K.A. flying below the radar of the evil one).
