People's Bible Notes for Revelation 21:8

Re 21:8 But the fearful and unbelieving. Those wedded to sin have no place in the glorious home prepared for the saints. "The fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars", have undergone the second death, the death that has no resurrection, and they can never enter or disturb the holy peace of the glorious city.

Discussion for Revelation 21

LaVonne. Firstly, may peace be with you. Secondly, I haven't referred to any specialist literature on this, but couldn't it be that the 'day of the Lord' referred to in 2nd Peter 3, which is what you are referring to, could be taken and understood as a day so bad that it seemingly went on as if almost forever? Again, I'm trying to stress the use of apocalyptic language here. May God bless you.

People need to quit worrying about when the dead will rise and before or after this 'n that - and look to their own salvation.

Bible Reader, What is must shortly come to pass? 2 Peter 3:8 One day is as a thousand years,
a thousand years as one day with the LORD. How can any of these events have happened yet?
When Christ comes the 2nd time every eye will see him. Rev 1-7 All of Rev is not apocalyptic
    It is not all doom

Hi LaVonne Re: Pat, I can understand why you might have reason to think these things described have not 'really' happened yet, but what about at the very start of the book where we are told they must shortly come to pass? Also, I don't think you are considering the sort of literature this is, it's apocalyptic. The book is often referred to as the Apocalypse of St. John.
  • LaVonne
Hi Pat, All believers-saved mankind will be in the first resurrection. The rest of the dead will be
raised after the 1,000 years are finished. Saved mankind from the first resurrection will reign
with Christ for that 1,000 years. Rev 20:5,6. I take this scripture literally. Nothing like this has
happened yet, the 1,000 years are yet to come, after the Tribulation and The Day of the LORD.
  • LaVonne
Hi Pat, Rev 20 The believers-saved will be in the first resurrection. That is why they are
    blessed
