Wesley's Notes for Revelation 10:1

10:1 And I saw another mighty angel - Another from that mighty angel, mentioned, #Rev 5:2|; yet he was a created angel; for he did not swear by himself, verse 6. #Rev 5:6| Clothed with a cloud - In token of his high dignity. And a rainbow upon his head - A lovely token of the divine favour. And yet it is not too glorious for a creature: the woman, #Rev 12:1|, is described more glorious still. And his face as the sun - Nor is this too much for a creature: for all the righteous shall shine forth as the sun, #Matt 13:43|. And his feet as pillars of fire - Bright as flame.

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 10:1

Re 10:1-3 The Open Book SUMMARY OF REVELATION 10: The Strong Angel. The Open Book. Standing on Sea and Land. The Seven Thunders. The Angel's Oath. John Asked to Devour the Book. Sweet, and Yet Bitter. Called on Again to Prophesy. I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven. This mighty angel was seen in vision and is to be regarded as a symbol. The description is very much like that of the Son of Man in Re 1:13-16. While the whole may signify some momentous movement the similarity of the description implies that Christ comes in that movement. Let the facts stated be observed closely. (1) He is a "mighty" angel. (2) He comes down "from heaven", enveloped in a cloud. (3) The rainbow about his head is the symbol of hope and peace. (4) The shining of his face and feet indicate that he shall spread light and intelligence. (5) His standing on sea and land shows that his mission was to the whole world. (6) The angel holds in his hand an "open book". The roll is not only unsealed, but it is unrolled so that it can be read. This open book occupies a very conspicuous place in his work. The book in the angel's hand must be an emblem of some fact. (7) The seventh fact is that when he, standing on land and sea, with the open book in his hand, cried in a loud voice, a command, or proclamation, or a call for attention, the seven thunders uttered their voices. The whole evidently signifies some mighty movement on the earth inaugurated by Christ.

Ron, I believe you are right. However, concerning the name of the book The Revelation of Jesus Christ given to St. John to write gives all of us human being the whole story of God's divine plan from chapter 1 through 22. This book of Revelation gives us more than enough knowledge to get to paradise. What a blessing glory be to God in the highest. Amen!

God went through great pains, and many, many holy men sacrificed everything, to bring us the whole Bible as we have it today: it must mean that He has A LOT to say to us, when we are able to bear it. I don't think that God wants any of us to not use our brains, and the capacities of moral and intellectual knowledge; that's part of what we are in His image. But some things we must wait for.

Verse 4 - the seven thunders. A lot of people keep trying to figure out what they said but per verse 7 no one will know until the time. The Prophets knew the basics but John died being the only living person knowing the Complete mystery of God, completed! Do I have this right? What are your thoughts?

"And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices." From the coast of Israel the Angel's back is to the north: (Jeremiah 1:14) "Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land." The Chronicle.

The little book is knowledge of the future, sweet because all want to know what will happen before it does. Once eaten, read and understood, it makes one sick. The end of days war is bitter because of the massive amount of radiation that travels the globe destroying DNA in all life forms. The war will cause a collapse of the ecology of earth. God warns us in advance in parables and symbolism.
