Psalms Chapter 80 Discussion

  • Richard H Priday on Psalms 80 - 1 year ago
    Psalm 80.

Lamentations 2:11 and associated passages discuss tears when the Babylonian captivity and it's horrors of stervation and destruction by fire of Jerusalem occur which is much like the theme here.

In terms of being as a vine (v. 8) we see such depictions of Israel in John 15:8 as well as Ezekiel and apparently Psalm 88 as well. Verses 10 to 12 also describe great branches such as a cedar (v. 10) which is also descriptive of other nations such as Lebanon which is compared to a cedar in no less than 100 verses in scripture. Trees also describe Egypt ( Ezekiel 31:18) as well as Assyria as ( Isaiah 10:24) which was "planted" in Lebanon.

Once again as in the previous Psalm; we see evidence of a prophetic mention of the city being burned (verse 16) signifying the Babylonian captivity. Verse 17 seems to indicate Christ as a possible man at the "man of thy right hand" made strong. Quickening the people in verse 18 could signify the Resurrection; or restoration at the end of the Tribulation. The idea of God awakening reminds us of Isaiah 54:7-9 where God briefly turns away; again possibly signifying Jacob's trouble.

Awe thanks for making me smile! Wasn't sure anything I said was helping cuz I stirred much commotion, about a certain subject that SO many are confused about, so I remove myself from the equation for a bit. It would be nice to see our "Amens". Yet God knows and that's all that matters. Thnx again & God bless, Texsis

Yes, praise the Lord! Good works alone will not get us to heaven yet we are to live accordingly once we are saved. Love and pray for everyone daily. Help ppl out if they need it not merely sitting around thinking "I'm saved so I don't need to do anything else". Learn the truth of the commandments and don't break any purposely. Not that we live by them anymore, once Jesus died for our sins, yet If we do keep breaking them, knowingly, we were never truly saved and satan will eventually take over and we will start to change and may, God forbid, eventually deny Christ. That is the ONLY unforgivable sin..to deny Christ.! So DO NOT get the mark of the beast either!! Only God knows His purpose for us, our mind and hearts as well. therefore it is a sin to make others business ours. God will judge us in the end for how we live our new life in Christ so please don't misinterpret "once saved always saved". NO more than standing in a garage makes you a car. Yes He will not leave us nor forsake us though continuing to do ungodly things you're choosing to forsake Him. If you truly have Christ in our heart you will want to do these thing. Sorry, I tend to ramble, pray that helps. God bless Texsis

Mankind is not a weak and imperfect people but plainly ungodly incapable of doing any good and inclined to all evil. Anyone trying to do good in order of obtaining salvation will never be justified, Roman's 4 : 2,3,4. Verse 5 tells us to believe in Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. God doesn't save the godly but the ungodly. Praise the Lord who saves only people without works. AMEN
  • THE HOLINESS OF GOD on Psalms 80 - 3 years ago
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Admittedly it is hard to understand many things in Scripture, but it is not because Scripture is wrong; it is because mankind is made up of weak and imperfect people, unable to scarcely grasp the overwhelming perfection and holiness of God.

We have become so used to sin that we can't imagine anyone being absolutely perfect. But God is! Because God is holy, He never does wrong-ever.

God's holiness is righteous and pure. The Bible says, "Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing" ( Habakkuk 1:13). Certainly, God notices evil and condemns it. The passage is clarifying that He will NOT look upon evil and tolerate it. He will indeed judge sin, and doing evil is sin.

The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory ( Romans 3:23). We stand guilty and condemned before Him, worthy only of His judgment and condemnation.

Apart from Christ and His work on the cross, we have no hope of Heaven, because even one sin contaminates us and makes us unfit to come into God's presence. We must never take the holiness and judgment of God lightly, for it is the very essence of His character.

But God is also the God of love ( 1 John 4:8). This makes all the difference. Behind every dealing God has with us is His perfect love. It was love that caused Him to create us, and it was love that caused Him to send His Son to REDEEM US. His love pursues us and draws us to Himself, and His love will someday take those who believe in Him into His presence forever.

God says to us, "I have loved you with an everlasting love" ( Jeremiah 31:3).

Mishael: ought we not to accept so great

A salvation? I see the violence we do to each other, on the free news, and it's makes me feel sick that we are so capable of hurting each other; and not even thinking about it later.

The terror of it, is that the end will not come swiftly like a huge asteroid strike. It's going to happen like birth pains.

Slave to sin. slave to righteousness. Be no slave to men. Ephesians 6:5-9

    New International Version

5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
  • 117 - In Reply on Psalms 80 - 3 years ago
That all slave traders shall have their part in the lake of fire. 1 Timothy 1:8 is clearly against the slave trade.

Better question: how much of the Books of the Bible is in our heart and mind?

I like it when I get squished and the Bible gets all over anyone near me.

At my age I'm happy to squish and be squished and something that blesses comes out of my mouth. :)
  • The Authority of Jesus Christ - In Reply on Psalms 80 - 3 years ago
God did not give Humans DOMINION over Other Humans.

As long as there is a devil loose on this planet, there will be suffering, slavery, misery; everything bad. Stop blaming God.

    Satan has a will too.

YOU have authority over Satan. LEARN what it is and USE IT. Stop being a victim.

Be victorious, in the NAME of JESUS; use the authority He gave you!!!!

No offense intended, but if you aren't taking notes on what is taught in here, you're not going to remember half of it.

Get in your Bible and learn Authority. Not only were you baptized,

You were Deputized in Jesus Name, and you have permission to give Satan panic attacks Every Day and at night.

There are no Lone Rangers in heavens Army. Christians get results when we pray together. CORPORATE PRAYER.

    The Scriptures in YOUR MOUTH

    Combined WITH your FAITH

    In the WORD OF GOD....

IS a scripture ROCKET LAUNCHER at the Devil and his demon hoards.

We could speak death to the Corona Virus on our knees. When's the last time you got on your knees?? Ask God to scramble the DNA of Corona Virus.

Satan is the author of confusion, he is a murderer, father of Lies, a thief of unsaved Souls and more. Check the dictionary in your Bible! Get a new Bible if you don't have a dictionary.

You can't see the demons! They're invisible!

Ephesians 6. You identify them by their FRUITS !! Depression, Suicide, Fear, Liar, Torments, Murder, Harass, Hinder, Sickness,

    WHAT are you seeing?

QUIT looking at the people, and see the Fruit of your enemies.

When will our Churches stand up as an army of intercessors and spiritual warriors; take aim at the sources of suffering.

Repent means to change your mind and do what is Truth.

Think on these things, pray your eyes be opened. I'm trying to teach this to anybody who will listen. Prove me right or full of wind and leaves! Choose who you will serve.

Your Leader is Jesus Christ. Let's use HIS AUTHORITY.

  • Spiritual WarfareAuthority of the Believers in Jesus - In Reply on Psalms 80 - 3 years ago
When Satan was hurled to earth, he took 1/3 of the angels in heaven with him. It could be billions? They died in the flood and became evil spirits.

Throughout the gospels we see they can get into people or harass them. There are lots of books and material on YouTube, covering the subject of spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6

What is not taught as much is the AUTHORITY of the Christian believer over these invisible spirits. We can see the fruit of the demonic in these street riots going on in our cities. The crowd that screamed for Jesus to be crucified was demonic. Satan thought he had killed the Son of God at last; but on the 3rd day Jesus came out of that tomb!

I don't think we should be demon conscious, but be Jesus conscious and use the Authority He gave to us to pray for ourselves and others.

Be disciples of Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit. We can ask the Holy Spirit for the Gift of Discerning of Spirits: there's human spirits, angelic spirits, demonic spirits.

Demons don't have bodies. They'll get inside of animals or people. They can't get in a born again, Holy Spirit baptized, Christian follower of Jesus, full of Bible scripture and knowledge of their AUTHORITY in Jesus Christ.

I do mean we need to be able to quote scripture like the Son of God, say IT IS WRITTEN and send those demons into outer darkness!

Jesus has provided everything we need to know in the Bible. We're supposed to know why we have armor and use it. His BLOOD is HOLY and no demon is going to challenge the POWER that is in that Holy, Sinless, Blood of the Lamb of God!

Again, be God conscious. Study. Get informed. ASK the Holy Spirit to teach you this truth. Desire the best gifts He has. Learn what they do. This is how we pray for family, our kids, our friends, strangers, our nation. Read the red letters in the gospels. Jesus defeated Satan! Grow your faith.

Isaiah 14:16. Some day we will see satan and be astonished we were so afraid.

Mable; Forgive me, but WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? "GOD Said as long your attach abuse in me I will abide in you.we will never be for from his tree of life???" The Lord doesn't "abide" in those who abuse Him! Also, the Tree of Life is guarded by an Angel with a flaming sword to prevent sinful fallen men to approach; until the time to come when the evil in men is forever put away. Please write me!

The Father's hand of acknowledgement and promise is upon our Lord Jesus Christ who is seated at His right hand. The promise of the Kingdom will be fulfilled for the remnant of Israel (the vine out of Egypt) when Christ reign's in the Millennial Kingdom on earth. Believers grafted into the "vine out of Egypt" are blessed because of the immutable promises of God's. Praise His faithfulness as He proclaims His name.
