I enjoy the whole chapter of psalms 4 but I especially enjoy verse 8," I will both lay me down in peace and sleep, for thou Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." That verse has helped me so much and still does!! It lets me know that God is there and is watching over me and you!! He makes sure that we are dwelling in safety when we are sleeping!!

"O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him." David was mightily filled with the Holy Spirit from the day that Samuel anointed him and walked with a perfect heart all his days. He was a light from God for Israel.

Barbara - could you give the verses that show Lent?
  • Barbara on Psalms 4 - 7 years ago
It is the season of Lint, reading the first 40 chapters of psalms is one good way to get to know our Heavenly Father. And remember when you pray always say Our Father Who Art In Heaven. Satan believes he is a God to, and if you say Dear God, He will sway your thoughts. Remember during lint to give up something you love to Honor your Heavenly Father's Son dying on the cross for you.

Bridgette, my condolences for your father. May the Lord keep you close always, and give you to know His comforts. There will be times when you may be able to help others, like the Lord has helped you through sad and difficult times. We need to pray for each other who believe in Jesus, even though for now we don't know each other: our prayers help God and His angels fight in the spiritual world!

Matt. 6:7 - We need to 'talk' to Jesus - just as we would talk to our earthly fathers, in a 'conversational' way. It's alright to quote any scripture during a time of prayer, but He needs to hear of our daily needs. He already knows what we need before we ask, but He wants communication with us - just like our own fathers do. Jesus loves us because He is our FATHER.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

"And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions." Luke 2:45-46

Just be righteous and trust God all other things are assured

  • Philips on Psalms 4 - 7 years ago
God answers the prayer of the righteous, he sets them apart to hear their cry. he won't answer those who put his name to shame through their sin. those who abide by his will sleep and be save. the only prayer a sinner can pray that God will answer is to ask for forgiveness, he will hear and transform his life. put on the armour of righteousness that God can answer you as you cry unto him.
  • Norm on Psalms 4 - 7 years ago
