Psalm 34. It seems in this Psalm from interpretations that I am reading; that Amimilech was a sort of "generic" name for the Philistine's priest; whose name was "Achish". That explains why the Abimelech mentioned to be David's ally; and someone against Saul who had given him the sword that killed Goliath some time back was probably someone else.

At any rate; David feigned madness in order to escape what he surmised as enemies that wanted him dead or imprisoned. "This poor man" in verse 6 would of course be referring to David himself.

Verse 7 gives a promise of the "angel of the Lord" encamping around the rightous; and apparently there are about 100 verses on that subject (some of which such as Joshua represent a "Christophene" or a preincarnate manifestation of Christ. Once again verse 7 and verse 11 we see benefits as in other passages for those who fear the Lord; and verse 8 discusses the "trust" issue. Verse 10 repeats the same idea in Psalm 37 on the righteous always having bread.

Verse 18 repeats the Psalm 51 idea of a "broken and contrite spirit". Verses 16 and 21 contrast the fate of the wicked to the righteous; another repeated theme in scripture overall; particularly in the O.T. Finally; verse 20 about "keeping all his bones" is prophetic to Christ on the cross shown in most detail in Psalm 22.

This is literally true of Christ, in whom the type of the passover lamb had its accomplishment, and this passage also; see Ex 12:46; and seems better to agree with him than with any of his members, since the bones of many of them have been broken by one accident or another; and especially many of the martyrs of Jesus have had all their bones broken upon the rack or wheel; wherefore, to understand these words of them might tend to create uneasiness and despondency in the minds of such who by any means have their bones broken; as if they were not righteous persons, this promise not being fulfilled in them: and to interpret this of the Lord's keeping the bones of his people in the grave, and in the resurrection putting them together again; this is no other than what will be done to the wicked; it seems therefore best to understand the whole of Christ; and it looks as if this passage was had in view as fulfilled in Joh 19:36; since a Scripture is referred to; but if it is interpreted of the righteous in general, it must be with a limitation; as that their bones are all kept by the Lord, and not one is broken without his knowledge and will; and that they are not broken finally, but restored again perfect and whole in the resurrection, and so will continue to all eternity: the phrase, without entering into particulars, may in general design the care of Providence over the righteous; with this compare Mt 10:29.

What does verse 20 of psalms 34 mean
  • Luke - In Reply on Psalms 34 - 1 year ago
Purgatory is not a bible word, KJV, no one in the bible calls Mary the mother of God, no one in the bible prays to Mary, the bible never said, Mary was the Queen of Heaven, sacrament is not a KJV bible word, Catholic is not a bible word, no where in either testament is there such a thing as baptizing a baby.

One last thought. On the page you came into this room, there are Many Links to other pages. Come back often and read the "Become A Christian" Link. It will guide you into how Jesus takes all of your sins: past, present and future. It's not a license to sin. It teaches us to consider Jesus before we consciously sin; or willfully.

Get a KJV Bible at any Walmart store. They're in the dvd department. They have some Christian DVD's too. Hundreds of Christian movies on YouTube. The best one is Jesus of Nazareth. The whole story of his birth, his mother Mary's role in Jesus's life. The beginning of his ministry, his teachings, his path to his crucifixion on the cross.

I cried for a week after watching Jesus die for MY SINS. I had a lot to be sorry for, I guess. Tears are the water of cleansing, I think, concerning the hurtful memories that arise.

You may want to find a Christian Church to attend in your neighborhood. Just read their Tenants of Faith and be sure they match what is in the Become A Believer link on this website.

Beloved child, please come back here with any questions you have. Someone is always here to greet you. I'll forward to seeing you again,

  • Doctrine of Purgatory - In Reply on Psalms 34 - 1 year ago
Of all of the teachings of Catholicism,Purgatoryis probably the one most often attacked by Catholics themselves. There are at least three reasons why that's so: many Catholics do not understand the need for Purgatory; they do not understand the scriptural basis for Purgatory, and they have been unintentionally misled by priests and catechism teachers who themselves do not understand what the Catholic Church has taught and continues to teach about Purgatory.

And so many Catholics have become convinced that the Church quietly dropped her belief in Purgatory a few decades ago.

So why do so many people think that belief in Purgatory is no longer a doctrine of the Church? Part of the confusion arises because some Catholics conflate Purgatory and Limbo, a supposed place of natural bliss where the souls of children who die without having received Baptism go because they are unable to enter Heaven since Baptism is necessary for salvation. Limbo is a theological speculation, which has been called into question in recent years by no less a figure than Pope Benedict XVI; Purgatory, however, is doctrinal teaching.

The eternal punishment of sin can be removed through the Sacrament of Confession. But the temporal punishment for our sins remains even after we have been forgiven in Confession, which is why the priest gives us a penance to perform.

    Acts 26:18

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

    Ephesians 1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

I am not going to accuse or anything like that. Jesus sees us from birth to death. God lives outside of the TIME of earths clock. Come to Jesus. Agree with John 3 in the Bible. Receive Jesus into your heart. Live just for Jesus.

  • The Holy Spirit - In Reply on Psalms 34 - 1 year ago
As Jesus taught in John 3, the Holy Spirit comes alongside of you for your education, comfort,

To keep us straight by convicting us about sin and judgment, things to come.

He helps us to pray. He comforts us.

He comes alongside of us in difficulties.

We're very blessed to have the Holy Spirit. He is a person. Third person of the Godhead. Roman's 1:20

He can be grieved or quenched by our behavior.

I mark his verses in the Bible with blue color pencils because of how Jesus describes Him as like the wind, in John 3:8

Whatever you need_ask the Holy Spirit first.

I appreciate the availability of your King James Bible online. In order to meditate on Psalm 34 this morning, I began to write myself these reflections. Thank You!

V.1. I am always going to bless The LORD GOD! When you see my lips moving, and when you don't - as long as I live, I will bless The LORD. I will exalt Him and bless His Name.

V.2. The only boasting which I will do is boasting "How Great GOD Is". People with a humble heart will have no problem with this. It will resonate with their souls, and they will join in the Exaltation of The LORD!

    V. 3. Please join me in the Exaltation of The LORD; help me promote His Name!

v.4. When I sought The LORD, I found Him to be RIGHT THERE. He heard me when I called Him, and He successfully, effectively and miraculously delivered Me from EVERYTHING I was afraid of. I'm learning because of His deliverance NOT TO FEAR ANYTHING BUT HIM!

v.5. All those that looked to Him were relieved! And they were not ashamed for having looked to Him.

v.6. I was humbled by my circumstances, and I cried out to The LORD. I had no other choice and no alternatives. But when I cried out to HIM, He saved me from EVERY one of my troubles.

v.7. My testimony is that The LORD has an Angel who encamps around me and all those that trust Him. The Angel is mighty and effective and he RESCUES and DELIVERS ALL those that fear and trust in The LORD.

V.8. You can experience this for yourself - The LORD is Good! Experience it with your Natural and your Spiritual Senses. Taste it and see it for yourself. Everybody who trust in Him is blessed!

v.9. It's appropriate and beneficial to Fear The LORD, and it will lead you into Godly Wisdom and Knowledge. Everyone that knows The LORD and is called by His Name. There is nothing lacking to those that fear Him.

v.10. Young lions and those that seem young and as strong as lions that hunger and have less than what they would seem to need. They can't satisfy their needs by their own strength. . .

Verse 8-to taste something we have to do so by personal experience. We want to develop a personal relationship with Jehovah God and see how good he truly is to each and everyone of us.

Verse 10-God has promised that if we seek Him we will have everything we need. We must put spiritual things first and God will take care of us with everything we need.

    Hi Jakayla,

Glad you are here. Beginning by praying to God and asking him to guide you as you seek Him. He will meet your need. For me, beginning in the gospels is always a good start. In the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John you can come to know who Jesus is and what He said and did.

Very important truth, about spiritual wisdom! About it, there is a sublime explanation given by jesus .- Give God what belongs to God and to Csar what belongs to Csar We cannot serve God and Mamon or wellth or money or any other idol. Idol is anything that takes our interest and evotion above the interest we shoud have on God's adoration. Jesus admonished a certain rich young man, precisely about this truth. puting the creature above the creator is madness and darkness, like would be to put the bulb lamp above Thomas Alva Edison, or to put mens will above God's will. Why is it so hard' I recon satan's lie above worshiping God and Him is more and more a present situation, wich needs a present Truth from god as it's written on His Word the Holy Bible, in Jonhn's book of revelation or Apoocalypse, chapter 14:6-12.

God's sign of authority is on the ten commandements precisely on the sabath of the 4th. commandement. The power who changed God's eternal Law, replacing god's adorention on sabath by someone else on sunday is the same powerwho persecuted those who died as martirs on Rome colliseum, and received his power from Csar. Let's Keep sabath Holy and give to csar just what belongs him, which is civil authority only.
  • Manuel Marques Teixeira on Psalms 34 - 2 years ago
Jesus sais to a rich young man who called Good Master, why do you call me Good? there is only One Who is GOOD, Whom is GOD!

Moses asked to see God's Face, and GOD answered showing His presence and hearing a proclamation of GOD's Character, as it's written on xodus 34:5-9, and also anouncedthe future of those who repent with an undivided heart and Faithfullness, as it's writtrn on deuteronomio 30.2-10. Jesus also gave testimony of GOD saying. - God so loved the world that gave His Begotten Son, for whosoever believe Him, don't perish but ay have Eternal LIfe! Jonhn 3:16 and 19 and 4: 24 and 26.God took upon Himself our sin and guilt, and as a man of sorrows, went till the end and gave all his love and Mercy to whosoever accepts Jesus as a personal Savior and Lord.

God's Justice was acomplished in Christ, as God's Lamb Who was slained since before the creaton of the Universe, before space and time. God is God, let's give Him what belongs Him and be humble before God, and practice justice towerds our neighbor, as Jesus did keeping all the ten commandements as He resumed to the rich young man.

To chose God we need to know Jesus and follow Him with all our will of power and unfailling Fait as He Had, on All Father's Word, and giving to Csar which belongs to Csar, being respectfull towerds authority, and honoring the governor or King., and forgiving all men as jesus forgave those who insulted and killed Him. men!

Hi Joe. We have to remember that Jesus is Bridegroom, we are his brides. The church is the bride. So he calls the spirit within him that for many reasons, one being that Yah has set everything up so there is a male and a female counterpart. And again, Jesus is Bridegroom, we are his brides. That is why.

The "righteous" as I choose to believe are those who try to remain in Faith and walk with Him. Righteousness as a Christian I would hope is FIRST about Faith and Love and SECOND about good deeds that spring from that Faith and Love. Xo
