I find the 23rd Psalm to be a perfect synopsis of the entire Bible, from Genesis through The Revelation. Said Psalm is a mini Bible that I memorized many years ago and have since recited in my private thoughts at least once a day all those years, but often I recite it many times for the calming effects because the words are so perfectly what the entire Holy Bible is and says. The 23rd Psalm says it all. It is a healthy brainfill. Try it.

    Gloria,

Revelation 4:4 says "And round about the throne were four and twenty seats, or literally thrones, 24 thrones: and upon the thrones I saw twenty four sitting, (Characteristic), clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

The white raiment is found in Revelation 3:5. And the crowns of gold is promised to believers ( Revelation 2:10).

There are 404 verses in the book of Revelation, and there are over 800 allusions and direct quotes from the Old Testament. The book of Revelation is a piece of Jewish Literature. And it must be understood by the symbols and the presentations that we receive from the Tanak (The Old Testament).

So there are 24 elders sitting on 24 thrones. In 2 Chronicles Chapters 24 and 25, this is where it is listed for us that where David began the courses of priests, and he assigned 24 courses of priests, that they would serve throughout the year so that the priesthood is covered. And all the people are covered, and they are called courses, 24 courses of priests.

Now 24 in Jewish Literature has to do with a perfection in covering, 24 courses to cover all of the people, and to cover all of the calendar for the twelve months.

And so here are 24 elders. Many believe the elders, who are of the church, clothed in white raiment (The promise to believers), and they have crowns of gold upon their heads, again evidence of the reward to believers.

And some believe that this is the representation of both the Old and the New Testament, the entire church, both Jew and Gentile, with the elders and the 24 courses, or 24 elders that are sitting.

    Hope this helps!

    William,

You will find the verse in Matthew 26:52. This is in the account of Jesus' betrayal and arrest after Peter uses his sword to cut off the soldier's ear.

With respect and affection dear Chinita . We all doubt ourselves sometimes , this is part of being human . To increase your faith u must try to build a strong bond with your God . This is done by reading His word and understanding it to the best of your ability and believe it . That's what faith is , belief . To have faith in God is to believe His word as preserved for us in the Bible , old and New testament . The whole Bible is full of accounts of our God's dealings and interactions with ordinary people just like u and me . Become familiar with these narratives , make friends with these people . Here r some especially helpful scriptures , all of Hebrews Ch 11 , Mat Ch 9 V 22 , Mar Ch 5 V 34 , Mar Ch 10 V 52 , Luk Ch 7 V 50 , Luk Ch 17 V 19 and Luk Ch 18 V 42 . I think it's interesting to note that the word faith is never once used in the gospel account by John . The book of James is also a good one to read about faith , Romans Ch 10 V 17 and Romans Ch 14 V 23 . Mat Ch 17 V 20 and Luk Ch 17 V 6 always make me feel ashamed of my own small faith as I am unable to move a tree or a mountain . These r things that God has said will happen that haven't yet , Num Ch 14 V 21 , Gen Ch 13 V 14-17 ,Isaiah Ch 2 V 1-4 and Ch 65 V 17-25 , Ezekiel Ch 40 to Ch 48 , Rev Ch 11 V 15 and Rev Ch 21&22 . Do u believe that God will do what He says He will ? That is faith . Read your Bible , speak to God in prayer , honestly and openly and trust in His love for u . Give Him thanks every day for all the kind and generous ways in which He takes care of u . Draw closer to Him and He will draw closer to u .

    Hi Chinita.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.

Faith rest in the word of God. We put our trust in Christ and his faithfulness. It's a fruit he imputes over unto us.

Faith comes by hearing the word, Romans 10:17. And I believe this is with the inner ear, which means hearing and believing and acting on it. It's not a leap in the dark, It is a substance and that substance is what God has to say and his faithfulness to carry his word through.

Stay in Gods word and pray often.

    God bless.

    Dear Chinita,

You can always take your doubts to God in prayer. This is a prayers He will always answers with what we need to remain in Him. Ask Him for more faith and clearer understanding of Who He is, what He had done for us, and how we can know Him more relationally speaking.

    I will pray for you.

Dear Lord Jesus, Chinita desires to be built up in faith in You. Provide this for her every day. Answer to her doubts with Truth from Uour Word. Continue to fill her up with You Holy Spirit who dwells within her and desires to do this. Give her submission to yield to all that Your Spirit wishes to bring her and a determination of will to live in obedience to everything the Spirit leads her to think, do , and say. Remove from her all that causes her to doubt and restrain the enemy from leading her astray by false teachings, temptations, and company that is a corrupting influence on her faith and lifestyle. She is Yours and I thank You for this sister. May Your love and grace flood over her today and every day from this day forward. Bless her with good counsel from other believers, draw her to your Word every day that she may learn the truths You wish to teach her daily.

We ask this, Lord Jesus in Your

    Name

    Amen

Deny yourself trust in Jesus. Matthew 16:24
  • FILLING UP OUR HOUSE WITH JESUS - In Reply on Psalms 23 - 2 years ago
This is what happens after we are born again. I will comment on this after you read this.

    Matthew 12

43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

44 Then he saith, I will return into my house (You) from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it EMPTY, swept, and garnished.

45 Then goeth he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and They enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

This is no reflection on you ok? You're a new Christian and sometimes if you don't get into the Bible and find out what's available to you as a Believer, evil spirits will come back and try to make you doubt your Salvation. We have to grow up and fit inside the Armor spoken of in Ephesians 6. That's Your Goal. Your faith has to be fed spiritual food EVERY DAY.

The fact that those spirits are troubling you is Proof of your Salvation. You have Jesus as your savior and he has given you the Holy Spirit as your teacher. Call on the Holy Spirit to help reveal who you are in Jesus Christ. You will learn to be aware when He is speaking to your new Alive Spirit that Jesus turned on full power the day you were Saved.

Make time every day to read the Bible. Sometimes I did it at lunch. This is you furnishing your "house" with Jesus. Either it will look sparse or it will look beautiful furnished with faith.

    Romans 10:17

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

    (Jesus)

If your Bible has a concordance at the back; I would read all the New Testament scriptures under the heading of FAITH. Read, 1 John 2:20. The unction is the Holy Spirit.

Read the entire New Testament before the Old Testament. Learn how Jesus did things and preached. How he taught Faith to his followers_which is what we are :)

Hello Carolann. You're referring to Psalm 51:19: "Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar."

Psalm 51 is David's cry out to God because of his sin with Bathsheba (the wife of Uriah). After his acknowledgement of his sin & plea to God for forgiveness, cleansing, & restoration of joy & fellowship, David brings to the fore a wonderful Truth: a Truth about a true & acceptable sacrifice to God. He's stating to God (verse 16), that it would be easy to just bring Him a sacrifice to deal with his grievous sin. Though God required various sacrifices (for various purposes) from the priests, their objective was hardly met because the main inclusion with that sacrifice was missing. And that which was missing is seen in verse 17, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

Then in verse 19, David states, only "Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar. The sacrifices were meaningless if a true contrition for sin & a broken spirit were excluded. The burnt offering was performed for the acknowledgement of the sins of the people & for a renewed relationship with God. The offering, usually a bullock, was sacrificed by burning on the altar & the priests could keep its skin for themselves. But David writes about the "whole burnt offering", indicating the whole animal can also be sacrificed to the Lord & the smoke from the altar would ascend towards Heaven.

I believe that David was implying that for the sacrifice to be acceptable to God and that the smoke would be a "sweet savour unto the Lord" ( Leviticus 1:9), also required that the sinner's heart was truly contrite, making the sacrifice a "sacrifice of righteousness". David's grief over his sins warranted this true type of sacrifice.
