Psalm 23:3 is a powerful revelation of how praise brings God down into our situations and enforce changes in whatever directions we desire . All I need to activate my desire changes is to render heart rooted praises to God which will bring Him to step down into my desires to activate the change that I need.

How do we know that this Psalm prophesies the coming of Jesus? Rather, it puts the cry of a person who has walked in the way of the Lord into poetry of such beauty and passion that God could not fail to harken to his servant.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 22:31 - 10 years ago
This is a messianic Psalm about the Lord Jesus Christ and His suffering on the Cross that will be told to future generations for their deliverance As the woman poured her jar of perfume on the Lord Jesus Christ He said this shall be a memorial of my death burial and resurrection where ever this gospel shall be preached all over the world Praise God as we look forward to His coming to redeem His church let us be found without spot or blemish at His coming

What was David's intentions toward the nations
  • Carol Tanner on Psalms 22:24 - 10 years ago
"...affliction of the afflicted" gave me the impression that this phrase referred to many people, or any number of people, or everyone at one time or another.
BUT THEN, the next phrase states, "nor has He hidden His face from HIM, but when he cried to Him for help, He heard." So the "afflicted" is an individual rather than many people.
This describes Jesus' experience on the cross.
However, the Jewish Publication Bible Society Psalm 22:25, seems to say something different when speaking of "the poor."
Is this a translation difference or conflict?
And why is it verse 25 rather than 24?
Wesley's notes are rich with compassion

This Psalm is a very chilling reminder to all Christians that,as David was able to prophecy about the crucifixion of Jesus,we MUST all realize that the Bible is truly the inspired word of GOD and that we all should prepare ye the way of The Lord at his second coming by being righteous with GOD.... Amen.

I think it could also mean, in a family, the faith of one believing, practicing member can save all the others and even be spoken of by future generations.

When I read scripture and can plainly see so many Prophecies about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that were foretold and came true it actually gives me chills. Jesus's Crucifixion was foretold so many years before the Romans had even instituted Crucifixion as a means of capital punishment,This truth builds my faith tremendously. It's the prophetic WORD of Jesus Christ spoken through The Psalmist. It's my hearts desire to show my gratitude for what HE did for me by offering myself as a living sacrifice. May I be found worthy when HE returns for us.

    We might say that
this entire Psalm is about the crucifixion of Jesus.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 22:1 - 11 years ago
This messianic Psalm tells of the suffering of the Lord Jesus on the cross, as the Father is too holy to look upon our sin, so the Lord cries out my God, my God why have you forsaken me? Thank God that Jesus took our sin upon that tree, and endured the agony, the rejection, so that we could be liberated from the curse of sin. Jesus looked to the day when the government will be upon His shoulders, and all kindred shall come to worship before Him. Praise God He rejoiced to see His seed. One day every eye shall see, every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord to the glory of God. These are the scriptures that Jesus said to search, for they testify of Me.

Can anybody tell me which Hebrew word translates to be 'pierced' in verse 16? I will tell you - none, because it is a complete mistranslation, just as the 'virgin' of Isaiah ch.7 v14. Why do they find it necessary to corrupt the Hebrew Scriptures?
  • David on Psalms 22 - 11 years ago
"This was a prophesy given to David by God concerning the crucifiction of Christ."

Either that or there was a nasty outbreak of Midrash among 1st century (CE) writers!
  • HARRY ALLISON on Psalms 22 - 12 years ago

  • Itsme Thistime on Psalms 22 - 12 years ago
This was a prophesy given to David by God concerning the crucifiction of Christ. Amazing how it was written 1,000 years before Christ was born, and is so accurate even to the point of describing how th roman soldiers would gamble over Christs garments. It begs the question, if all those who were behind His crucifiction knew this scripture ahead of time, would they have carried out such actions? They would have known it would only be proving that this Man who was on the cross was Immanuel "God with us" and the living Son of God.
