"I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee." After the violence and death at the hand of the wicked, God the Lord Christ was raised again to life eternal and glorified by God the Father, and given a name and authority above all heaven and earth. Jesus kept the marks of that violence in His hands and feet for an everlasting memorial in His flesh.

Dan; you could actually look it up for yourself; it's in Strong's Concordance! Pierced - Psalm 22:16 #738 Arei or Aryeh [Aleph Resh Yode] from #717 Arah [Aleph Resh He]. Virgin - Isaiah 7:14 #5959 'Almah [Ayin Lamed Mem He] (fem. form of #5958 'Alam [Ayin Lamed Mem]); a lass (as veiled or private); damsel, maid, virgin. You can study day and night, but will never know if you're not of the truth.
  • Dan123 on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Wow, A Disciple, I have never heard that before. Could you kindly give me the Hebrew letters spelling of this word 'araw' so I could look into it. Many thanks. Anything to say on virgin of Isaiah 7:14?
  • A disciple on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Dan and Mark; The first mentioning of Christ having to suffer to redeem us is found in Genesis 3:15. After the LORD God had questioned the man and his wife; He had His two witnesses and didn't need to call a jury or give the devil a chance to defend himself; but directly pronounced his eternal doom, face down in the pit; and that the Seed of the woman would break his head by His own being bruised.

So the "Counsel" has determined that more evidence is needed to support the interpretation of the Scriptures to mean that Christ was to be pierced in His hands and His feet? Read Zechariah 12:10 and 13:6. The Hebrew word in Psalm 22 is aryeh; from the word araw - to pluck (in the sense of Violence); a [young] lion; rendered 'pierced' by the Translators. Jesus rose from dead and kept the piercings!
  • Dan123 on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
I would say that Mark D has a point. Isn't there a problem also with the virgin of Isaiah 7:14?
A disciple - you are not answering satisfactorily - how far can the 'spirit' go and who possesses it?
  • A disciple on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Mr. Diffin; I have answered you directly, but you didn't hear: but since you might also not understand the answer, I'll try again. It is not, as you say, "changing" the Word, but a rendering in translation. You may have some experience with learning a foreign language: do you know then, that there are some things that cannot be "word for word" but must convey the idea? For this we need the Spirit!
  • Mark Diffin on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
A.D. , you are avoiding my question once again and it is very basic. Why all the mistranslations and deceptions. If the truth is with Christianity, then it should speak for itself. If it needs to twist the meaning the the Old Testament then questions need to be raised - why?!! All I am asking is honesty and truth. Changing the meaning of scriptures is changing the word G-d my friend.
  • A disciple on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Mr. Diffin; If you really want someone to answer you honestly, don't you first have to have a mind willing to hear the truth? If you've already (or still) opened a door for the devil's thoughts, and lying to yourself as if they are anything but worthless; then I would suggest that you carefully consider how else you are going to be able to stand before God at the last day, if not through His Son.
  • A disciple on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Mark Diffin; Leviticus 19:17 "Thou shalt not hate thy neighbor in thine heart; but shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbor, and not suffer sin upon him." Love is jealous! In answer to your question; I looked it up in Strong's and found what I wrote to you. The descriptions of Christ's sufferings are written throughout the Scriptures; as the Lord Jesus also taught the disciples and Himself fulfilled!
  • Mark Diffin on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Steady on Mr Disciple, where is your Christian love? I am just asking for a little honesty here. I cannot understand why they translate as pierced when is simply does not mean that at all? It is deceiving. Also in Isaiah 53:5 : But he was wounded FOR our transgressions, he was bruised FOR our iniquities. The Hebrew does not say that. It says FROM in both. FOR implies in place of. FROM does not!

To Irene and Patty from 7 months ago; Unicorn is a mis-translation of the Hebrew word, Re em' - wild ox. The reference is to the furious rage of the kind of men who follow in the spirit of that ancient heathen reverence and idolatry of fierce and evil beasts of violence. It is the devil's rage against the Lord Jesus, that wells up in the hearts of the devil's children and lusts to murder the holy.

Mark Diffin; First of all if you're looking for disproving the Announced Glad Tidings of Jesus Christ, on account of a struggle YOU are having with words from another language and time; its not "the whole credibility of the Christian understanding" that is the problem; its YOU! But to answer; the translation denotes a rendering in the A.V. for a Hebrew word implying a sense of violence; a Lion.
  • Mark Diffin on Psalms 22 - 6 years ago
Can someone please tell me which word in the original Hebrew in verse 16 means pierced and also where it is used with the same meaning anywhere else in the Bible? Please someone answer this for me as the whole credibility of the Christian understanding of the chapter depends on it, Thanks.

To Patty on unicorns - This was the O.T. dispensation. Some things were called by names back then that we call by different names now. And, the O.T. was translated from the Hebrew language. Someone out there may have been able to trace 'unicorns' down, but I haven't heard of it yet.
  • Patti on Psalms 22 - 7 years ago
If there is no such things as unicorns, why is it mentioned unicorns in verse 24
  • Word on Psalms 22 - 7 years ago
The whole Psalms is written a thousand years before the fact of Christ on the cross and what he went through down to even what the priest said. If your sharp and put the beginning of My God why hast thou forsaken Me and in Gospel "it is finished"you'll see that while Christ hung on the cross He taught this Psalm. Unicorn is Ox and dogs are the wicked putting him to the cross. Get a Companion Bible

Verse 18 shows that these scriptures have a prophetic meaning. Comparing this verse with Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34, and John 19:23, 24 shows that thousands of years later these words were fulfilled in what happening with Jesus' garments.

We must seek the kingdom of God first and love him with all your heart and soul. We must delight ourselves and put God first in our life and everything we need will be added unto you. Without Christ to dwell in our hearts we will never understand his words for his words gives us peace, life in abundance, joy and he will wipe our tears. You must accept God 's words and obey them for He who loves Jesus will keep his commandments until rapture. Fix your eyes to Jesus and walk with faith and not by sight. Jesus loves you so much and we must thank Jesus for his precious blood that shed for your sake and my sake. From his precious blood we are covered to forgive our sins and saved and we are now live with full of blessings and life in abundance. Thanks to Jesus for what he have done into our lives. He is faithful to his promises that goodness and mercy will follow us in everyday of our lives. Just believe Jesus that He is the Son of the Living God and invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in your heart. You will see the Glory of God Amen
