Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. What does that mean

The Hebrew word for 'pitieth' (or, pity), means 'to love or to have compassion'. So the metaphor is of an earthly father who naturally demonstrates love, care & compassion. As the father, so too, the pure & immense Love of God, our Heavenly Father, is shown to all those who fear (stand in awe) of Him. And so His Love & compassion toward us would far surpass anything our earthly parents could ever give us & we can have much joy & confidence in this glorious fact.

The only way to attract God's mercy is obeying Him
