Proverbs Chapter 4 Discussion

  • Mark T smith sr on Proverbs 4:27
The truely factual body of believers in Our King Jesus has fallen by the wayside. We need to stand back up in our most Holy Faith and use these materials to come home again. Study. Meditate. Think. Pray And not just jiberish but determine to pay attention to Gods Word and purposely interact with our Father. He is waiting. Don't let Him down.
  • Carleton - in Reply on Proverbs 4:27
Hello Mark T, I and many others participate by love in the factual body of believers who know Jesus Christ and their hearts while living by his grace in power above willing sin for his purpose as their reasonable service. Talk is cheap as you mentioned.

    Keep the faith.

Ponder - just need the meaning of the word ponder that's all
  • Chris - in Reply on Proverbs 4:26
In Proverbs chapter 4 gives some lovely wisdom for us to consider & pursue. And from verses 20 onwards, special attention is given to our senses & how we use them & respond to them. References to the ears, eyes, heart, mouth & feet are specifically mentioned.

So in verse 26, "ponder" the path of thy feet means that we are to give due consideration & forethought before we take our steps in life. So the idea is of using wisdom to anticipate what's ahead & what ramifications our decision to move in that direction will make (whether to us or others). And certainly, if "evil" or hurt/injury is anticipated, then in our 'pondering' we will wisely avoid it & take a different path. Or conversely, if the path we take is understood as being the correct one, we should stick to it & not detour to the "left or right".
  • Ponder Pause and Selah - in Reply on Proverbs 4:26
I was taught that 'Selah' means to pause and think upon (ponder) what I'm reading. I had to learn to slow down. Found in Psalms and Book of Habakkah.

Many commentators think that Selah meant 'to pause' or 'to reflect'. This could have been a request for the reader or listener to pause and think about what has just been said, or it could have been a space for voices to pause and for instruments play alone. We don't really know for certain.

Regardless, the word Selah itself indeed causes us to pause and consider what God may be saying even when we don't fully understand. Selah gives us an opportunity to take a moment away from this crazy, busy, non-stop life we all tend to live and consider the immense mysteries and wonders of God. Paul speaks to this in Colossians 2:2-3, My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

You may have to research that one from the Web as the name is not in the Bible. I believe that the name has to do with a Sumerian god & has nothing to do with the Living God of the Bible.

The senseless thing about the smuggled pork: is that we buy their cheap pork

And they buy our higher priced (safe) pork for their citizens.

The President is fighting this by banning it, but Somebody here is buying it.

People may be awakening but many are falling away too. Grab onto God and hold fast to your faith. It's called the great falling away.

Who are the gentiles and Samaritans that Jesus instructs his disciples not to go near? and why does he instruct them to not go near them? When he himself spoke to a Samaritan woman and said if you know who this was, you would ask for living water?
  • Guiding and keeping our hearts with all diligence is very critical these days. Our heart can deceives and leads in the wrong way. So we have to read and apply the word of God and ask Him to guide us in all our ways. The word further tells us that the heart of men is desperately wicked. So if out of our hearts are the issues of life that means we have protect it.

Yes, I think so, too. I'm a very exact person detailed and also caring and it's nice to know that God likes me - or my doings. I love people, I do paintings, I like to study and teach. Sometimes I notice God is there with me.
