Hi Claire, do you know any scripture references that say God wants women staying 'home'? Do you think Mary and Joseph were sinning by having Jesus while travelling and not at a home?
  • Claire - In Reply on Proverbs 31 - 4 years ago
Cheryl: Please do not misunderstand this passage does NOT suggest that women should go out work in the workforce as we know it today. We are to be hard workers AT IN the HOME. God s Will for women is to stay at HOME, raise our children, guide the house while our husbands go out work. We can sell things we make from home, but are NOT called to get a job that takes us away from our home.

As we Celebrate Mother’s Day, let us reflect on this Chapter of Proverbs? There is so much
Truth for each Mother to Grasp? It touches so many Aspects of our Day-To-Day-Routine,
Especially our Spiritual? We can never go through our Days without God’s Leading?
It is highly impossible! We need Him every Second of our Lives? He wants to Bless us with
    all Spiritual Blessings: Awesome: Amen

"Godliness with contentment is great gain," the Bible says. Being Godly means living according to the way of righteousness; pure, holy and upright before the Majesty on High. We cannot do that without being born by water and Spirit -- the Holy Ghost. Then, we MUST follow our new birth with being "transformed by the renewing of [our] minds" and living holy before the Lord. Come to God! He IS life!

The woman spoken of is godly wisdom: and the virtuous woman who obeys God is of a meek and quiet spirit. But again ye are naked by your words. For the women in Christ cannot say the things ye say; for God permits them not. As it is written, Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law.

This is one of my favorite passages. This is always the passage I cite when people say women should only be mothers and housewives. This passages demonstrates that women are capable of working, engaging in commerce independently and can make wise decisions that bring prosperity to the household (buying the vineyard, selling garments and so forth).

This Verse speaks Volume! Simply means that you can have all the beauty all the tricks of the trade. However , if you do not fear God and carry yourself like a lady the other things have no meaning. A woman that fears the Lord with Love and Respect is praised by God her husband and her children , she is a joy to those that know her.

Being Godly or Virtuous doesn't Get One into His Kingdom. Mother Teresa will be in The Lake of Fire without The Blood of Christ. Speaking Evil of His People or His Way of Salvation Does Not Help His Cause. If The Father Calls Ask Forgiveness ( John 6:44) When The Last Trumpet Sounds, to Late. Whoever is Not in The Book of Life is Cast Into The Lake of Fire ( Revelation 20:15)
  • I AM THAT I AM on Proverbs 31 - 5 years ago
Verily, I tell you that none of Godly virtue are headed to that lake of fire. Yet, many antichrists (like yourself) are headed to that lake of fire. For it is written, The wicked are estranged [from] the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. But it is also written, (Every male that [opens] the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) God discerns the spirit, not the flesh.

Not Sure what Your Saying? There are Many Virtuous People on The Wide Road That are Headed to The Lake of Fire and their Pride Goes With Them. Thanks to The Lamb and His Cleansing Blood We can be on The Narrow Road Which Leads to Ever Lasting Life.( Revelation 20:15, Revelation 1:5, Matthew 7:13-14)

I am praying that I will become the very essence of a Virtuous Woman, by the Grace of God.
  • Carol Evans on Proverbs 31 - 5 years ago
These are words of wisdom given by King Solomon. Words that give us an exact picture of women of every century.... from the past and present. The responsibilities of the true Christian woman who wants to live a virtuous life. Let us all deem the words of being a good woman daily.
  • Dina on Proverbs 31 - 5 years ago
Wonderful advice given by a mother to her son. What mother doesn't want her son to have such a wife? I fear that Solomon's mother raised her son's expectations too high. Could this explain his reason for having so many wives? He looked for the perfect woman all his life; he kept marrying and marrying. If his writings in Ecclesiastes are any indication, he never found her.

  • Chrystol on Proverbs 31 - 7 years ago
Who can find a virtuous women? Do they still exist? I pray that when my son is old enough she will be found! He's 15, raised in the church, have a positive attitude, good group of friends, honor roll student, Loves the Lord Jesus Christ. I know I'm a virtuous women. My husband is a minister, along with Christ in our lives the foundation is already set. Have a Blessed Day All of You. ☺

This has always been one of my favorite chapters in the bible. It has good teachings mostly for women. I love it!!!!
  • Bonnie Groves on Proverbs 31 - 7 years ago
There is another element to this passage, the husband. His mother is not only teaching him what a good wife will do and be to him, but also he needs to be the kind of man that supports her in becoming this successful and strong woman. No woman could do and be this woman without the love and support of her husband.

I am 75 now, a young 75 full of the joy of all that God has provided and that joy arms me for all that comes now in the person of a very ill adult daughter who needs me physically and emotionally. I have been widowed twice and have a family of ten adult children, 23 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren....my most comforting thought is that no matter what, God provides peace!

    Guidelines for a GODLY WIFE
  • Marie on Proverbs 31 - 8 years ago
Whenever I am feeling guilty about leaving an abusive man after several decades' of marriage (his last alcohol-fueled rage sealed the deal) and I read this Proverb, I am comforted. Despite my flaws, I was those things, I did those things for my ex husband. And I am comforted. My children love me. He is with his other woman. I am recovering health day by day. Praise God.
  • Carolyn on Proverbs 31 - 8 years ago
Reading this chapter speaks the words of the woman i pray the Holy Spirit will create in me. I thank God for His word.
