Old saying: "Sin will take you FARTHER than you wanted to go; KEEP you longer than you

wanted to stay, and COST you more than you wanted to pay." That is the true nature of sin.

Verse 23: to obtain the truth found in God’s Word it takes hard work and sacrifice.
  • Pastor Pjewole Philip on Proverbs 23 - 5 years ago
The Bible Proverbs 23:4 doesn't oppose hardwork. It rather wisely advice us not to stretch ourselves beyond limit in quest for wealthy else, one may worn out, becomes greedy, a miser, and above all one may have little or no time for God. It's important to note that it's not hardwork though it's a requirement that brings riches, but God's favour and opportunities Ecclesistes 9:11 .

"Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Consider if you strive all your life to make money and never have time for your kids and family, they will suffer and so will you. Because all the money in the world can not make up for time and love.

I too have sin of gluttony. Andrea I hear you loud and clear. I always have to remember physically that my stomach is only as big as my fist. And that is what I try to remember when I eat anything. As long as we have enough food to fill that you can control eating and most of all talk with the Lord before during and after. Remember Your body belongs to the Lord. :) Not the devil.

I was led here because of the sin of gluttony or overeating. It's a sin that I've been plagued with since childhood. It's a sin many Christians endure, yet many preachers aren't talking about this severe sin at their pulpits. I can attest that gluttony brings poverty. The spirit of poverty is upon my family, I'm constantly tired, and I dress in same clothes daily. Please pray for me,

Buy the truth, and sell it not; be willing to part with any thing for it. Do not part with it for pleasures, honours, riches, or any thing in this world. The heart is what the great God requires. We must not think to divide the heart between God and the world; he will have all or none. Look to the rule of God's word, the conduct of his providence, and the good examples of his people.

Wow!very awesome!this is pure wisdom.reading proverbs is an daily requirement for my children. You can 't go wrong sharing this with your children, It backs up what we are supposed to be teaching them. They may not believe us all the time but Surely they will fear the word of God as this proverb tells us .leaving the child alone will only make them woarse and hell bound.
