A friend will be corrected by my Holy Father. It is written, The blueness of a wound cleanses away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly. Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beat him with the rod, he shall not die. but Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

  • A disciple
"A reproof enters more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool." In our modern age it is considered barbaric and inhumane to inflict physical punishments on criminals. But God knows better what it takes to break man's wicked mind and pride so that he might repent and change his ways. Yet it still demands a certain character to benefit from reproof and punishment, or there is no result.
  • Paul Mitchell
When a godly man dies his fears die. When a wicked man dies his hope dies.
  • Cynthia F Gilstrap
God is good. Praise him for he is worthy of praise. Now about proverbs 17-Its best to keep mouth shut. Thank the Lord and give thanks for all things. It seems the less you say the better.

Verse 14. I think It means when strife is started from letting your mouth loose(letteth water) means from loose tongue. Brings (contention)meaning brings tention to your lips and out your tongue, it starts off a meddling you will be messed with. Off that. So basically stop talking

A proverb , a day help us keep the devil away. The devil comes in different shapes and forms to get us off course, when we least expect. The world check the horoscope daily, but we can check proverb daily on how to run our day and please literally do it. What ever the date, read that chapter, so today is 9-17, we read chapter 17, and on and on, when month short or long keep with the date. Shalom

Verse 17 talks about what it means to be a true friend. Jehovah God proves to be the best example of this scripture. He is so patient and loving with us at all times even though we don't deserve it.
  • A disciple
"He that hath knowledge spares his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise: and he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding." Being excited to learn is good; but it takes proof by experience to teach others. My Dad used to tell me, It's better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
  • A disciple
"A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causes shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren." In Matthew 8:11-12, as in many other places, the warning is clearly, that name and privilege does not give anyone a free pass, regardless of moral character. The fact that the Jews as a people have generally rejected Jesus, and that the Gentiles have received Him, shows this!
  • Mr. Smith
vs 2, Wise servant/shameful son (see Eccl. 10:7). The servant operating out of the authority of his imagination (heart) will rule (have power) over a son operating from the sense realm (human lusts, ie. prodigal son, Luke 15). The person that discovers their divine position (Ps. 82:6, John 10:34) will share the inheritance (blessings) along with other like-minded (Gal. 3:29) in Christ.

Great proverb, all proverbs are inspiring in one way or another, thank God for the wisdom within them. One of my favorite understandings spoken from God is I have told My people they can have what they say, but My people are saying what they have.

I love proverbs 17:22 Worrying is like a rocking chair you rock and rock and rock and you get know where. So be happy in the Lord, because he's all you really need
  • Tyquan
Our heart is like a medicine. The word that comes to mind is love. Love heals. A broken spirit dries the bones. The word that comes to mind is will. Our will must be God's will. That's where our strength comes from.
  • Lilian
