Brandie; It is so glaringly apparent that the Churches are teaching FALSE DOCTRINE! God was not more severe to the people of old time under the first covenant, than to the people from the time of Christ's first coming; but for Jesus' sake He waits for the fullness of the Nations to come in.
  • Brandie Burleson on Proverbs 1 - 6 years ago
In response to Sinner82, this is the old testament before Jesus came. God's judgment was harsher before Jesus. He did not enjoy destroying the wicked, that's why He sent His son to die so that sinners like us would no longer be destroyed, but have a way for forgiveness.
  • A disciple on Proverbs 1 - 6 years ago
Sinner; Perhaps you should try and read the chapter again a few times, slowly; and take note. It is not about God taking pleasure in bringing evil upon you, as you blasphemously suggest; but about men, as God's sons, should hear their Father's instructions, and take a course in life after His good character; and not be a defiant sinner and heathen; in the end good for nothing but to be destroyed.

Dear Irene; the Lord Jesus loves you, and doesn't hold any hard feelings about the past; but He said that He wouldn't ever mention those things to us again, after we've turned from them and now do right. We are in very dreadful times, and we all have family members who are out there, still in their sins and in grave danger. We bring them to the Lord in our prayers and stay true friends regardless.

Proverbs 1:7"The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:"V.24"Because I have called, and ye have refused:I have stretched out my hand, and no one regarded."26,I will also laugh at your calamity;I will laugh when your fear comes(fear of what?that which comes in v.27,destruction,distress,anguish.29;they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD. 33;harken unto me=noFEAR of evil.

Anne, that was just beautiful. I so regret I 'backslid' during my children's pre-teen years - for the next 34 yrs. and now they are into drugs, in and out of prison, but for the last almost 3 yrs., since I'm back with the Lord, He hears my prayers. It is SO important to raise them in the Word of God. They are our responsibility, not our hindrance to our own lives.

  • Anne on Proverbs 1 - 6 years ago
Parents, please raise your children and don't let the TV, social media, and celebrities do it for you. Don't be afraid to tell them "no" when they ask for something that is not good for them. Chastise them when they are wrong and above all else, let them know that Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. Spend quality time with them and tell them that you love them often. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, so make the most of the time you have with them.

  • Joe Diggs on Proverbs 1 - 7 years ago
Proverbs 1 inclines us to seek wisdom at every turn and capitalize off understanding on convenient terms for our own purposes as opposed to aligning our faith with God's promise. The premise is on being consistent out of gratitude. Understanding it's all a blessing as we live and learn.
  • Marcel on Proverbs 1 - 7 years ago
I thinking that God wants us to love and honour him willfully, in spite of fear, we should abide in His word , because it makes our lives a little easier to navigate, and gives us the ability to help others, and mature in the process of Him perfecting us. He loves us in spite of our faults and forgives, and is just and fair what more could we ask for.
  • Steve on Proverbs 1 - 7 years ago
The principle thing is to get the fear of the Lord or wisdom fear is wisdom for without the fear of God no man departs from evil this is the message Solomon is trying to covey to the reader when you have that kind of fear or wisdom it will go well with you
