Yes Jesse, you are right. I thought Herod died of old age, but no he died due to a horrible illness.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
    Carol,

    Here is part 2:

Another reason why he (Herod) gave the order to have them put to death when he died was so that the Jewish people would have somebody to mourn over because he knew that they would not mourn over him.

That is the kind of man he was. That's how paranoid he was over his "ruler-ship."

Now, can you imagine if a group of men came into town and said "Where is He who is born king of the Jews?"

Now here's how Herod died, and if you research the accounts of his death, you will see that he died a horrible death. He was riddled with disease and here's the circumstances:

Herod's wife's name was Miriam. After he had her put to death, he missed her. He would see various women and think that they were her. And eventually he went down and got involved with prostitutes.

There was one in particular that he thought was his wife, and he called her by name, and he had relationships with her.

He caught diseases from that relationship, which literally, if you would read the account, it was a pretty bad death. He died in 4 B.C. He died a horrible death!

So you can imagine his paranoia about Jesus as these wise men came into town asking where is he who is born King of the Jews.

Herod's thoughts were "I'm the king of the Jews. What are you talking about?" This man Herod, he went crazy. This was Herod the great, Herod the king.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
    Carol,

I can share a little on Herod the king that we see in Matthew Chapter 2, information about him, and also how he died.

Here are some important facts about Herod the king:

He's also known as "Herod the great" in times of history. This man was an Edomite.

He was not a Jew. And yet at the same time, through the Roman government, he took control over the Jewish people.

In order to win them over, he would help them. He would actually take gold from his home and from his palace and have the gold sold and the money brought in to feed the poor.

Not only did he help the poor, but he would have athletic fields built and he would have various activities going on to help the community of the Jews so that he would win their favor.

The flip side of Herod the great was that he was crazy. A crazy man can only be nice for so long. But he was paranoid over his reign as king. And so you can imagine what is taking place in Matthew Chapter 2.

Herod was so paranoid over people plotting against him that he had three of his sons put to death because he thought they were plotting against him.

He had his first two sons killed, Alexander and Aristobulus. And later he killed Antipater who was supposed to take the throne. He had his wife put to death because he thought she was plotting against him.

Numerous members of the family, if he saw them together and thought that they were speaking together against him behind his back, he would have them put to death.

He died approximately a year after the Lord was born. And in knowing that he was about to die, he had a decree made that all of the leaders in Jerusalem would be rounded up and placed into a holding area.

And at the moment he died, they would all be put to death so that he would know that no leader would succeed him to the throne.

I need to send a part 2, and I will also share with you how he died.

You're like a lily among thorns is what God says when He sees His Election, You're like a lily among thornes, so is MY FRIEND among the (Daughters/ DAMSELS/ the people) who have been misled thru false teachings is what God is saying :

    It's beautiful ! Just beautiful ! Precious !
  • Chris - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
Hello Natasha. The verse is from Song of Solomon 2:2, "As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters." This is, I believe, Solomon's bride speaking, as the following verses suggest (others, refer it to it as Solomon's words).

So, the Shulamite bride, in this verse, sees herself as a lily peering through the surrounding thorny bushes, and she compares that to the intense love she has for Solomon, far exceeding the love from the maidens. Now why this verse was inscribed onto a headstone, I cannot be sure. The only thought that comes to mind, is the wife's/husband's (or, family's) strong sentiments of endless love for their dear departed. The other option would be, that the character of the departed one was truly extraordinary & exemplary, far above others they have known. But I would prefer the first option.

And as a side-note: many of the passages in the Songs, give us a picture of Christ Jesus & His Love for His Church.

    Brother S Spencer:

No one is going to change someones opinion, that's the Holy Ghost's job, we are just to preach truth.

Truth does not contradict God's words.

    You don't go to heaven.

You (sinful flesh) DIED on the Cross, you, the (glorified) BODY of Christ, was raised back by the resurrection of Christ.

The Spirit (in a glorified body) goes back to God that gave it.

Christ, the glorified Body, (LIFE and TRUTH) is in man ( Colossians 1:27).

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Christ in you) that worketh both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Those chosen in this age, WILL BE ONE with Christ: IN MAN bringing man to GOD ( John 1:51).

Ezekiel 14:9 And if the prophet (of man) be deceived when he has spoken such a thing, I the Lord HAVE DECEIVED that prophet .....

1 Thessalonians 2:11 For this cause GOD SHALL SEND them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

The whole world is DECEIVED, only the Holy Ghost can reveal truth.

1 Thessalonians 2:12 That they ALL (everyone of us) might be damned (JUDGED, now or later, by God's words) who believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

1 Corinthians 15:28 And when ALL THINGS (in the ages to come) SHALL BE subdued to him, the shall the Son also himself be subject to him who put all things under him, that God may be ALL in ALL.

We either come to truth now; and become ONE with the WORD, in this age, or latter, in the ages to come. God's CHOICE.

Psalms 22:27 And all the ends of the world SHALL REMEMBER (when they are resurrected back into bodies of flesh and judged by God's words) and turn unto the Lord: for all kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

ALL God's WORDS will be fulfilled ( Isaiah 55:11).

    God Bless You.

Why do u get so wound up when some one says something that u don't believe ? I don't c why there should b one rule for u and one rule for everyone else . Maybe u just want a site where everyone agrees with u and validates your beliefs all the time . It's not a personal attack on u when someone doesn't believe the same things as u do . I'm outta here .

Amanda God had a Divine purpose in mind for all the world when he made that great Promise that Christ wd be multiplied as the stars of heaven.... Gen 22:17 kjv ...Thats y the sower of the good seed wants to sow his precious seed in our hearts that we might birth a Baby Christ in our hearts (multiplication) ....Which is the ManChild the H.G. that is gonna rule all nations....God was so Passionate about this great Promise that he swore by his very self....God wants to live in humanity and be marrried to humanity via this Manchild the H.G. The gift of God which is the Kingdom in us....Thats y God wanted a new Covenant which wd be all inclusive....But this New Covenant had to be dedicated with the blood of JESUS...If i be lifted up i will draw all men unto me...God needed a lamb to dedicate this New Covenant...God saw that there was no man thus HIS OWN ARM BROUGHT HIM THE VICTORY...Jesus

......Whats the meaning of all this.... That God wd receive perfect Praise as Jesus said God is spirit and them that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth....HE SEEKETH SUCH TO WORHIP HIM....And its no wonder as he wants to be married to humanity.....And as Isaiah said he saw all the world at rest and full of his GLORY...12:41 KJV

......Jesus said outta of the mouths of babes and sucklings thou has Perfected PRAISE.....Isaiah said a lil Child is gona lead them....The babes and sucklings are his offspring...Isaiah said he wd see his seed and be satisfied

......And thats y he must be Multiplied as the stars of Heaven....That every man might get a measure of Faith a GOOD seed to birth a Baby Christ the H.G....The Children of Promise....Unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....

Hi Amanda, I don't believe God necessarily chooses to know what we're going to do. He's powerful enough that He can choose to be in our timeframe if He wants. God can also change His mind, based on human input, like on destroying Sodom and Gomorrah. We have free will to choose and its totally up to us, we're not robots. So, the purpose of life is in our choices- to follow God and obey, or to follow evil and satan. To love or hate. Life is one big test in my opinion. God isn't going to just let everyone into heaven to disrupt and cause chaos. Satan apparently had freewill in heaven to do that and defy God. Fortunately we have grace and can stumble and have many chances. Sadly, most people will reject Jesus and go to hell, but there's a chance we can help those who are lost to share the truth. Matthew 7:13

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (Christ in you) that worketh both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

HOW CAN WE BE DECEIVED BY THE GOOD PLEASURE AND WILL OF CHRIST.

And according to your theology SO WHAT! WE ALL GO TO HEAVEN.

Unless you are telling us that a deceived person will not.

You never answered when asked IF ANY AND EVERY VIEW IS ACCEPTED. WHY DO YOU GO THROUGH SUCH INTENSE MEASURES TO PITCH YOURS.

Why not let a person believe what he wants do what he wants if we all ends up with the same fate?

Here's the question again for YOU.

Why do it matter so much to you that we change our views and accept yours if in the end it doesn't matter? Not looking for verses, Just an explanation.

    Still Waiting.

Obedience and faithfulness are good virtues, and it's what God asks of us, but what God wants most from us is our Love, to (Love)Him.

You see, One of God's most highly decorated creation's rebelled against Him in the first world age, deceived 1/3 of His children to stand against Him, and Love not Him but Satan.

So instead of destroying His Children, those who stood against Him, roughly 4 billion, and because He Loves them whereby no matter what they do, if they repent and return to Him He will accept them, thus receiving the gift of eternal life; He destroyed that world age, created this one, sending all souls through human flesh with a letter(bible) and free will to choose who they want to Love.

God knows who you stood with in the first World Age,,, 1/3 stood with God, 1/3 stood with stood, and 1/3 stood idly by and did nothing.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

    Dear Amanda,

If you are asking what is God's purpose in knowing all that we will think or do, I must say that God does not choose to be all-knowing. He is all-knowing by nature. But being all-knowing ensures that God will direct history to the end He wills.

If you are asking what is the purpose for us to be able to make choices since God already knows what we will think or do, then their are several ways to think on this. One could think fatalistically thinking that since God knows all I'll ever think or do, what is the point of deciding anything or even caring about how I exercise my will, since God directs it. This is an unbiblical way of thinking.

The other way of thinking is that because God is all-knowing He will determine certain things to happen to us to help us come use our free will to obey Him. He can determine ahead of time certain events to occur in our lives that will strengthen our faith when we are in doubt. He may bring people or events to turn someone away from doing evil or turn someone to do what is right. He can also bring people and events into our lives that will helps us to use our free will to come to Him, follow Him, and serve Him.

God's omniscience does not interfere with our exercise of free will. He is far wiser and powerful enough to bless us, show mercy, and extend grace to us despite regardless of our own choices. He is truly the only FREE being, as nothing restrains Him or determines His ways or influences His choices. We, on the other hand, are influenced by our sinful nature and also by the Holy Spirit. We are limited in where we are born, who our parents are, etc. These are determined by God. We are restrained by forces of nature and by circumstances that make it impossible to do exactly as we please.

    Amanda,

It is true that God knows ahead of time what we are going to do. This does not mean that it is God forcing us to do things. We make decisions on our own. But something we must keep in mind is that God knows our hearts. In other words, He knows what decisions we are going to make, whether those decision are right or wrong. And He allows us to make decisions. But on the other hand, I believe that what God expects from us is obedience and faithfulness.

God is faithful to us, so it's not much for Him to ask the same in return. But we are constantly faced with decisions in life. What are we going to do? What is the Lord leading us to do? Do we follow the persuasion of God's Spirit in our lives, or do we go our own way? This is where the "God already knows who we are and what we going to do" comes in. He knows what decisions we are going to make because He knows our hearts.

Did you know that we make decisions based on who or what we love the most? It's true! For example, the Lord might be leading me to go to Bible study on Thursday night, but the latest movie I have been wanting to see comes out in the theater the same night, and a friend paid for two tickets and wants me to go. Now I have a choice to make. So what do I do? What or who do I love the most? Again, the Lord knows my heart. He knows ahead of time what choice I am going to make. But He doesn't make the choice for me, I make the choice.

So the purpose is that we are to remain faithful to the Lord. What is He leading us to do? He knows our hearts and what choices we are going to make. Are we going to be faithful?

  • Gods Master Plan for Mankind - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
Why not accept what is written in Genesis 1and 2?

He chose soil and moulded Adam into the form all people would be. Since we have the elements within us now: of unique chromosomes and DNA, all of that would pass into future people born. God breathed life into Adams nostrils, the breath of LIFE. Adam was completed. A living, breathing HUMAN being.

God Made Eve from just one of Adams ribs. She had the identical components in her body; plus the capability to bear children. A womb and breasts to feed her children.

We do not know what color Adam and Eve were. Scientists cannot figure it out either. DNA and chromosomes are still mysterious to them. It's still a science not explained. A white woman can be implanted with donated sperm, and give birth to a black (or other colors) child. That's why they separate sperm now, and store it according to the fathers color.

The old days restrictions (by families) of people intermarrying with people of different color, has been abolished. So we currently see what some people call " mixed race families.

All of this is from Gods permissive Will for mankind. It was of man to separate us, and try to restrict inter- marriage.

Restrictions God put upon the Jewish people, is that they marry other Jews. But people will be people, fall in love with other races and religions. The restriction imposed is that the children will be raised as Jewish.

Myself, I'm what one would call a Gentile. Non-Jewish. I was raised in a Southern Baptist Church and was baptized at 12. I will end this there. I hope you can accept how God made this world and the people he put on it. Be at peace. May we do as God spoke into us: be fruitful and multiply.

This world will end because God made a blood covenant with Israel, concerning their land. That was Gods decision.

He made covenant with descendants of Abrahams son, Israel. Jesus is Jewish and we can receive him as savior and Lord; today.

    Part 2

This isolation and repetition of a closed system of gene transmission would produce characteristics specific to each isolated people groups that distinguished them from other isolated groups. This would lead to different "races". But in reality, humans are all one race with consistent variations of characteristics that distinguish them as only human, just like the variations in horses are present but they are all horses, though different breeds created either through natural genetic transmission between an isolated group or manipulated by man.

We are all humans created by God possessing the His image in a way that is not well explained in Scripture. Knowing that we all have this quality placed in us by God we can understand that we are different than the animals in abilities and in intrinsic value. This is why God emphasizes to us to value and protect human life and to avoid ending anyone's life through murder or gross negligence. He says this to Noah ( Genesis 9:6) and through Moses ( Exodus 20:13) and through Jesus ( Matthew 5:21-22).

Jesus even expands this commandment by not actual murder, but by hating another or dehumanizing another person.

We are to love our neighbor as ourselves and do good to others, avoiding harming them. We are to be compassionate and caring towards others regardless of their "looks", ethnicity, or status. We are to be welcoming of those that are not from our "area", treating them justly.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
Hi Larry, I found a good explanation on a site that I cannot remember at the moment concerning DNA in Adam and Eve.

    Part 1

For a certain trait like physical characteristics each parent has a combination genes that can be transmitted. So, the example i found illustrated it this way:

If both Adam AND Eve had AaBb for a specific trait then these combinations can be transmitted when an egg is fertilized by sperm to form a new person with a DNA genetic makeup that is a combination of the two parents.

So the DNA transmitted for a specific gene can be:

AABB AABb AAbb AaBB AaBb aaBB aaBb aabb

With every child and any child, the combination can be one of these, with each child having a different combination or even the same. In this way, the dominant trait (capital A and B) usually prevails, but not always. So, with the myriad of genes, there can be much variety in characteristics of offspring in subsequent generations as they intermarry with one another.

Genes that would determine characteristics that would lead to a certain race would emerge among the population. So, the entire population would not be homogenous. After the flood, Noah and family must have also possessed combinations similar to Adam and Eve. And the process would have been repeated as it was for Adam and Eve's descendants through Seth. The building of the tower of Babel was used by God to scatter people outward from the Mesopotamian plains to inhabit other areas of the earth as they continued to migrate outwards from this origin over time.

As peoples settled in isolated areas and intermarried with one another, the DNA for specific genetic traits of these people would be repeated more often in their offspring than an anomalous DNA from their predecessors from Mesopotamia.
  • Why God has Love for Everyone Who Asks of Him - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
All races and colors came from the soil God used to make Adam. So what was in your soil, was passed from generation to generation; based upon the colors that married into your unique bloodline.

In the past decades, the restrictions people had about intermarriage with other colors and cultures was lifted.

We see today the results of that. I am an artist, and I can see the beauty in the blending of colors. I think that is how God views us. Unique and equally precious in His sight. It makes Him happy for us to accept ourselves and conquer our self-images of what we think is perfection.

The more we know about the God of the Bible, and the universe the more we understand the plan He has for all of mankind. He isn't against colors in inter-marriage. He just doesn't want believers in Him to marry the Un-believers. Your going to meet lots of people who no one never told them about God.

You have to decide who you are inside of you, and do you want Jesus to be a part of your life always.

Personally I think it is great inner strength to just say no to the ugliness that is "out there". It becomes easier if you'll hang out with people your own age, in a church near you. You might have to visit 2 or 3, until you find one you feel comfortable in. God will help you choose if you ask Him to.

Get to know everyone. Everyone can pray with you for specific needs. We're here around the clock. I'm your basic night owl lol.

You are going to find you're loved by Jesus, and from all of the regulars in here. We're young, older, all colors; and we all love the Lord and his children. Ask anything.

  • When Earth Was Turned Upside Down - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 1 year ago
Lucifer was a covering Archangel; 4th in line to Gods throne. He coveted Gods throne, and God had him thrown to earth. His name changed to Satan and his form was that of a serpent. He's described in Isaiah 14.

I was taught Isaiah 24 is a view of pre-Adamic earth.

Scientists have discovered and agree, what happened to earth killed everything at the same time; according to carbon dating of water and land animals.

Isaiah 24:18 refers to Genesis 7:11 and Psalm 18:7 and Psalm 76:12. God dealt with the high demon princes. The flood killed every human or animal bodies, that evil spirits had overtaken. Isaiah 14

Curiously, the scientists agree that the only life (carbon date proves it) that survived, were conies. Proverbs 30:26,

Psalm 104:18. They survived in underground burrows when the dinosaurs were exterminated. Got water from plants alive underground!! That's amazing.

Scientists agree, one single event extinguished all life on earth near the same carbon date. I believe what the Bible says: God turned the earth upside down.

We serve a MIGHTY GOD! Why do we worry at all?

I dutifully watch all those archeology shows on tv media for everybody, not just me. Little conies proved it; and they are in the Bible!! Read those Bible verses.

We are going to be living with this amazing Godhead, in heaven, every single day. ( 2 Peter 3) He is going to purify earth of our lame creations like hideous skyscrapers. No orchards. landscapes of boxy single family homes :/

I want to go to work with Jesus every single day; how about you?

Get a Study Reference Bible, with the Center Columns that have the a-b-c notes that take you to additional scriptures that add more info to what you are reading.

Yes you're going to get the full picture if you are willing to dig down like a Conie.
