Does anyone else find verses 15&16 strange concerning someone preaching the gospel of Christ to cause trouble for the Apostle Paul ?
  • Jackie Latham - In Reply on Philippians 1 - 2 years ago
Ezekiel 28:12-15 (the king of Tyrus being another name for Satan.

As you can see not only was he in the garden of Eden, verse 15 he was perfect (good) until iniquity (sin) was found in him.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden.

    Alec,

I agree with Dianne that Christ never leaves us. Guilt and shame can be one of two things: God's Spirit in you bringing conviction to your heart about the sin you are/were involved in, or God's Spirit is bringing conviction to draw you closer to Him, and to cause you to surrender your life to Him. I don't know if you've received Christ. Only you and the Lord know that.

The bible teaches that a person who's been born of God's Spirit can no longer sin (Habitually) because the Spirit in them prevents that from happening. 1 John Chapter 3 Verse 9 says, and I'll give it to you literally from the Greek text. It says "Whosoever has been born of God does not (practice) sin; for God's seed remains, or abides (Permanently) in him: and he cannot sin, that is, he does not have the capacity to sin because he has been born of God.

A person's considered a sinner because the spirit of the devil energizes them to fulfil the desires of their flesh. But once that person is born of the Spirit of God, they no longer have the capacity to continue to satisfy a lifestyle of sin. It's impossible for them to continue in sin. Paul explains it partly in Galatians 5:17 where he says, "For the flesh lusts against God's Spirit, and the Spirit is against the flesh."

That tells me is that I have this conflict going on. In my spirit, I'm saved. But my flesh is not redeemed and still has the same desires it had before I was saved. For believers, there's constant conflict between the flesh and the Spirit of Christ in them. If God's Spirit did not live inside of me, I'd be gone! And that's why God puts His Spirit in a believer's life.

It's more than just in our mind that we believe the truth about Jesus. When we are born of the Spirit of God, His Spirit comes into our life and makes sure that we remain His until He comes for us because our propensity is to go out and do whatever we want. That's why people don't surrender to Christ. It's because they can't do what they want to do anymore!

Something to consider sir Christ never leaves us we stop walking in him. you can always ask for forgiveness from the Heart I.E. mean it and get back in fellowship, and by the way God always knows if your honest about it or not. actions always are louder than words. Also He is more willing to foregive us than we are to forgive ourselves, 1 John 3:20 something to consider.
  • Alec Ford on Philippians 1 - 2 years ago
Paul and many Christians that i know once they accepted Jesus they never looked back, can someone like me who left the church and lived a life of sin come back to Jesus and be forgiven because there are times when guilt and shame overwhelm me and it is so hard to imagine God could forgive me since i knew better. Please be honest if you decicde to answer and if possible give me scriptures. Pray for me.

  • How to use This Website Search Engine on Philippians 1 - 3 years ago
Tell me why we don't go at the Bible the same way? Dig, dig deeper, read commentaries ON HERE or read commentaries on Google. Just type scripture verse and type, commentary after it.

The Holy Spirit is your TEACHER. Ask Him. If you'll sit still long enough and be quiet, you will get answers.

    PRAY for a TEACHABLE spirit.

Get a KJV Study Bible that has Center of Each page, reference columns: with the abc notes imbedded within the scriptures. Those send you to other scriptures that EXPAND the meanings or reveal a prophesy.

Back Arrow out of this room to the Search Box. Go to the top.

Put a scripture in it or just a word (like worms) hit the arrow. The search engine will pull up ALL verses with 'worms' in it.

Touch or click the verse and it will highlight yellow.

Scroll downward to the Commentary Box. Click that. It will show you what the scholars interpret that scripture to mean. If there isn't one, then exit and do the same thing on GOOGLE. Type the scripture and spell out Commentary, or History, or Teaching.

Questions answered. It makes studying fun and interesting.

You cannot get lost. Use the back arrow or just exit this site and come back in Again.

There's a quickie link from KJV to Google to help you find a scripture you're unsure about. Access that through the SEARCH BOX. Like: "Many are called but few are chosen."

Learn to study! For yourselves. Share what you find, on here. IT IS FUN! God speaks to us through His Word.

When you sit down to study: you pray: "I HAVE THE SAME MIND OF CHRIST !!" I receive it by faith right now. God watches over His Word To Perform it.

    Habakkuk 2:2-4.

You will find your Identity in the Bible.

You gotta get plugged into the Holy Spirit. Depend on Him. Pursue Him. Be quiet and Listen To Him.

Answered the first question shown here, which asks who wrote Philipians?

    Answered Paul,

Your system showed it was incorrect, stating Paul and Timothy.

    This is false.

Peter wrote the first sections of the New Testament, which results in one third.

After Paul wrote all remaining section, which amounts to two thirds.

    There are No other writters.

From where is Your information base to claims otherwise?

These are things that the Lord wants His believers to be involved in. Some are personal growth as a believer.

    *****

    Matthew 25:

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye DID IT NOT to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

There's lots of groups that have outreaches. I helped another lady run the Benevolence ministry: distributing food and clothing to people in need. I loved it. Met many nice, but hurting people.

We do this as unto the Lord. It's like an offering of your time and love.

    Choose what is agreeable you.

Here's some scriptures on personal growth. The hardest one to learn is patience, for me

    2 Peter 1:5-7

    Galatians 5:22-25

    Proverbs 31

    Hi Angela,

Good question and I can understand why one would ask.

    The answer is: NO!

No man(or woman) can or will ever be perfect. The Bible clearly teaches us that we all have sinned and have fallen short.

Striving to be perfect will bring anxiety and condemnation. We can't be perfect for it is literally impossible. We can't be Jesus, but we can strive to follow in his footsteps. When we slip we must confess it to Him and repent.

We must learn from our mistakes and strive to be better. Be the best version that we can be and improving when we see the opportunity.

    I hope that helps!

    God Bless
  • Angela on Philippians 1:27 - 3 years ago
Hello as being a save Christian, do we have to strive to be perfect, or are we already perfect according to the word of God, for the Word of God says be ye therefore perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect?
  • LINDA CANNON - In Reply on Philippians 1 - 3 years ago
Thank God for this word. It spoke to my heart when I saw this post. I know that our God is faithful. We as the body of Christ has to believe even when we are facing hard times.

I just checked on YouTube, that has Alexander Scourby reading King James Version scripture.

What a wonderful way to relax and listen to the Word of God.
  • Mishael on CULTS that say God is female on Philippians 1 - 3 years ago
I just did a quick Google on cults that teach that god is a woman. It comes from Europe. You can read this on Wikipedia.

Ariana Grande has a perverted painting promoting the same idea with a new CD.

That's what cults do. They promote some new outrageous thing in hopes of making some fast money on the suffering of others who are willing to buy into anything new.

I briefly saw that there's another one saying god is female and male.

I guess Satan thinks he can gather all the weak-minded fools to populate hell. He doesn't care who he hurts: he just hates God.

We have a responsibility to google these things and warn others.

Hi, I am so blessed to hear your son is now serving the Lord! My son is now in about the same situation. He was near death's door because of his past drug use and present drinking. I am praying God will be gracious to him one more time and he will repent and turn to the Lord. I believe the seed of faith was planted in him and this situation is the way the Lord will return my son to himself.
