PHILIPPIANS 1:28 and in nothing terrified by your adversaries which is to them an evident token of perdition but to you of salvation and that of GOD--1:29--FOR UNTO YOU IT IS GIVEN IN THE BEHALF OF CHRIST NOT ONLY TO BELIEVE ON HIM BUT ALSO TO SUFFER FOR HIS SAKE MARK 8:35 for whosoever will save his life shall lose it but whosoever shall lose his for MY sake and the gospels the same shall save it

I believe the Apostle Paul is telling his readers to never retire in the faith. Always preach the Gospel in some sort of way that reflects the love of Jesus Christ. We as Christians should never put down our tools of faith that God has given to us. We should remain focus on the call that God has ordained us to have. The easy chair and house coat Christian need not apply in this letter!
