This chap. - all about Edom/Essau. I've done some reading on Petra/Edom south of the Dead sea. It's a HUGE red rock structure, carved by hand thousands of years ago, by the Edomites, Essau's descendants. Essau means red and his descendants carved a red city. Anyway, the physical Edom/Petra was destroyed, just as Amos says, by God. But try to tell that to atheist archaeologists.

This book is the final destruction of the Edomites (Idumea, Edom) as told by Obadiah from the mouth of the Most High. While it clearly outlines the destruction that will happen to Edom and the future victory for Judah and the Children of Israel, I believe there is more pages to this book that are not here. I truly believe there is more destruction coming to Edom that is not shown to the public.

In mount Zion there is a place where believers meet God face to face. A place of prayer where our rights is taking by force.

I believe that the lord is not through with edom and Esau. God says do not touch the apple of God's eye. He will avenge his people because when they saw their brother in trouble they went Into their country and brought more destruction in their lives. They laughed at their brother and for that they will pay says the lord.

I believe through Obadiah God is trying to tell us that we are vain people and we see everyones sins but ours sometimes.we forget that God is in charge.when when we leave God out then he convicts us to rember that he is the almighty and without him our lives are distarous.

Zion is a place where inheritance is handed over to you. It is a place of deliverance from every oppression of hell, a place where you are cleaned up and whatever belongs to you is delivered to you

God will destroy the proud. Those people who are self righteous may try to do things in proportions that would disregard the sovereignty of the most high.

I think it is the place where believes come to have their liberation, break through and receive power and everything God has for them. Also where believes meet God to receive all answers to prayers and be freed for no one come to the presence of God and live the same.

Identifying the nations of ppl in the Bible is key to understanding the TRUE meaning of the Bible. For example, Who is Edom? What nation of ppl on this earth is the remnant of Esau?
  • Insight 777 on Obadiah 1 - 9 years ago
Verse 18... Esau means hairy, he was red. Red represents sin in the Bible. Esau was a hunter, a killer. Esau had no self control as he easily sold his birthright for something of little value, a small amount of food when he could have fasted instead. He gave no honor to his family, he gave little value to his bloodline. What is distinctive between man and an animal, a beast? A beast is covered in hair as Esau was. A beast in the bible represents a man or nation that desires war. Verse 18 is saying there will be a world war 3, fire from the sky, and all men that desire war for gain, no matter how small a gain, are beasts that will be destroyed.

Verse 4 can have 2 different meanings. People view the eagle as the symbol of America just as they view Russia as a bear. Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle can mean a nation that has an equal air force to the one that America has. They are LIKE America. This could be a nation that has an equal military power with information serviced by satellites so they know what is happening around the world. So this verse could be speaking of America but it might be speaking of an enemy nation of equal strength.

Mount Zion is the Church of Christ, the Body of Christ and in Christ the children of God will receive deliverance from oppressive forces of the agents of darkness and through deliverance the children of God will get to their land of milk and honey.
  • Peter Griffin on Obadiah 1 - 9 years ago
From what I gathered this chapter talks about people in high places with the power to do good but choose to deceive the common man and take what the common man has for their greater gain. The phrase eagle expresses a keen sight of power and high shows the strenght verses the ground. To eat bread with someone show a sign of trust or admiration like someone of high authority or respected man. Deceive displays how the man of high can play on the foolishness of the common man. As it is put the LORD will empower forces strenghtening the common man to go to battle with the elite or more powerful man, because the high and more powerful pray of the weak and foolish. Genesis spoke God gave this land to man for only one price that he will die on it after life and for no other price or amount of money, if it is our father 's inheritance we should live freely hence the phase foreigners. At the end of our time as man this land will still belong to GOD and all our evil doing for material gain will be nothing but wasted times of a spiteful game of deceiving your weak because loving brothers.

Though small and despised, Israel shall remain high amongst all nations, so the book of Obadiah might seem small bt it holds alot in form of prophesy,,,,
  • Mark on Obadiah 1 - 9 years ago
I 'm a little amazed that none of you Bible geniuses have said anything about AMERICA. And it 's judgement. "2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen thou art greatly despised. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? 4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. "

I have yet to see a good in-depth commentary on the book of Obadiah, not even a You Tube video. What I have seen explains it as a book of history rather than futuristic prophecy.

Since Chapter 1 predicts these events to take place just prior to the "Day of The Lord" (Tribulation), it is obvious to me that it's futuristic. I am also of the belief that it's akin and detailed version to Psalm 83.

If you can get to Mount Zion, your deliverance is sure. Mount Zion is therefore a house of testimony, it is a warehouse of testimony.
