Brother Hiram; Maybe you haven't quite got your wording? The whole point of this Sermon on the mount is to show by our works out of a pure heart and a good conscience, what is the true grace of God. It is all by our works that we shall be judged; (read Matt. 25); and it is all by the quality of our faith that our works are acted out and that which shows us either wise or stupid as proven by trial.
  • Hiram Ramlall on Matthew 7 - 6 years ago
Matthew 7:21-23 is explaining salvation by faith alone
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. What is God's will? John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
    verse's 22-23 condemn works salvation

Who has ears to hear? Is it not those that enter at the strait gate, meaning difficult, not linear. These teachings are not from one who possesses an ego or has ulterior motives. No, they are the truth from God which are purified seven times as silver from dross, with fire. There is no controversy. Hear and perform these commandments or suffer the fate of a hypocrite. Be not like the phonies
  • BSP on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
We need to take the initiative to do good towards others the way that we would want them to do towards us.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
You are quite the 'naysayer'. Being a Christian we are to lift each other up. Jesus' church of Acts ch. 2 - is still here. You just told people there is no hope by saying there are no churches that preach truth anymore. I've got a feeling you've been in 'contact' with His church ....... ? The one that preaches Acts 2:38 for salvation.
  • Daniel on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
Mt 7:21ff teaches about being careful thinking that we can perform miracles yet neglect the main purpose which is to exposit God's word with full respect and truth. Many of us are driven by miracle performers who don't even dare to prepare or study God's word. Good preaching does not exist anymore in churches. Lets go back to basics.

Peggy: I do not know what bible you read from but the KJV Matthew 7 : 1 reads (Judge not that ye be not judged) Go to the KJV original bible of 1611 it also reads the same. Good study. Have a good day.
  • Peggy on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
Matthew 7:1- This verse used to read- Judge not, lest ye be judged. But now it reads Judge not,
that ye be not judged. This verse has been changed. In our church Christmas play (2016), this verse was said how it used to read with the word lest.

Matthew 24" is a powerful teaching from the Lord" If you build your house on a solid rock which is the word of "GOD" you shall not fall and the gates of HELL shall not prevail against it"
  • Sharon on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
I like the chapter because there many great advice in it for example v4_5 we are to example our clearfully and remove whatever problems we are struggling with before we try to help others with theirs . Verses 7 and 8 admonish us to open our mouths an simple ask and we shall receive , behold him and he will open unto us .
    A-Ask
    S-seek
    K-knock
He gives freely but we must do one thing ask.
  • Bruce on Matthew 7 - 7 years ago
Authority to judge? He doesn't say don't ever judge but be careful how. v:2-5,to who v:6,watch out v:15,how will you know v:16. Just like sheep will get tangled up or stuck in mud. Don't say I will never be in that mess I would never say or do that! I'm glad I'm not like you! For by what judgment you use you will be judged. By their fruits you know v:20. Don't push them deeper but lift them up!

God has not given us the authority to judge so we should not judge if we don't want to be judged adversely.

V.20 By their fruit you shall know them. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith Meekness, temperance: Father, may I ever display your fruit that others see Christ and not me.

  • Lilian on Matthew 7 - 8 years ago
God is always reminding us to have obedience on his words and accept God as our Savior, our Lord and the Lover of our Soul. Jesus himself is the word of God and he came down and shed his blood to us so that all of us will have life in abundance. We must keep thanking Jesus and praised him for everything he have done into our lives. We are saved by his Grace and he is faithful to his promises. Amen

  • OB on Matthew 7:13 - 8 years ago
Not by good deeds, but through Christ are we saved. There is no other way. That's why He died on the cross, for our sins. If there is another way then Christ would have died in vain.
  • Musasizi bruno on Matthew 7:7 - 8 years ago

  • Chris roper on Matthew 7:26 - 8 years ago
as one preacher dealt with he said 'how you build is how you live'! if on the sand you will shift and be as reubn unstable as water! you will be as one that is tossed with every wind of doctrine! but if built on the rock there is a firm foundation stablness steady, not moved easily but as a tree planted by the water
  • Kenya on Matthew 7:13 - 8 years ago
These verses in context are talking about law and grace. BOTH gates are leading to heaven but one is through works or self efforts and the other is through grace faith in Jesus' works . Jesus is the GATE and he is referencing the SAME GATE in Mathew 7 both times. Romans speaks of the two types of Christians Jews and Gentiles and God says He will receive both however the carnal Christians Back then it was the Jews will live a destructive life here on Earth remember Paul pronounced a curse when he saw they were STILL teaching this after Jesus because you have to be perfect if you want to be under the law. Those under Grace who have a revelation of their freedom with ALLLL of GOD's promises aren't to flaunt our freedom where it would cause others to anger. offend in one area and you're guilty of breaking them all. By destructive I mean sickness with no healing cancer , no miracles seen that you can't apply logic to, just bad things in general that happen to Christians that are NOT supposed to happen but we accept these things because we have a form of Godliness and deny His power. Political correctness is of the world and you are not OF THE WORLD. Jesus said we would do all the things he did and more. Miracles are happening guys and we have POWER! If ALL OF GOD's PROMISES aren't happening in your life and you're just waiting for your heavenly home when you die, something isn't right.
  • Inda on Matthew 7:26 - 8 years ago
We need to build up in God's word that we can be strong against the enemy. No word no power. Don't build on things in the world you will fall. Build on a solid foundation which is in Christ Jesus
