Verses 16 to 18...fasting is NOT eating false doctrine. God knows what you think at all times. Eating the bread of Jesus, the word of God, is anointing ones head, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, washing ones face in the blood of the Lamb to be cleansed of sin. This is symbolic to represent it is not outward ritual that defines the laws of God but inner purity of loving God and man. God knows if you love him and his creation, all mankind, or not. God moves in the heart of Christians to bless the world with love and peace. Only loving people gives the world this blessing. Without unity in this world there is no perfect order, peace, garden of Eden. Listen with a loving heart, trust Jesus, fast from false doctrine, follow through with the guidance we receive.

In Matthew chapter5 6, Jesus took the 12 disciples upon the mountain to describe the kingdom of God. God is not of this world. The kingdom Jesus is referring to is a spiritual place where tangible physical things we feel, taste, hear see do not exist. Until I was granted eyes and ears to see and hear what God is saying to me this passage meant nothing to me. I had to cease praying for , a new car, a bigger house, and even basic necessities. I began praying for God to reveal himself to me. Because no matter how attentively I listened, no one could explain God to me. God cannot be explained, He must reveal himself. Something that happens when we stop chasing worldly things. Things of this world are not real. They will all be as dust very soon. I lost everything I own twice and I see what 's real now. Fellowship with Jesus and obedience to his commandment come first, and all else follows. And when God blesses us with things of this world we are to share with our bretheren.

Jesus ' death on the cross has already delivered us from the evil of the fear of death and hell. And He gives us the hope of eternal life forever. But we still need to pray daily for deliverance from the evil that could befall us during our daily walk with Him in this life, such as, accidents, sickness, the dangers of animal attacks, and the evils from unsaved wicked, such as burglars, murderers, etc. When we pray we are telling the Lord that we are trusting in Him for our protection and safekeeping and not in ourselves.

Remember "The Lord 's Prayer " was given to man BEFORE Christ 's death. For those living AFTER Jesus ' death on the cross to use this prayer verbatim is to make the death of Christ of no avail because Christ 's death DID DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE and Christ 's death DID BRING THE KINGDOM OF GOD DOWN TO MAN. .... Heb. 2:14-15 tells, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also, himself, likewise took part of the same: that thru death He might destroy him that HAD the power of death, that is the devil: and DELIVER THEM who thru fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. ".... and Col. 1:13 tells us God "... HATH DELIVERED US INTO THE KINGDOM of His dear Son. " ... Thus, according to these two witnesses of Heb 2:14-15 and Col. 1:13 Jesus ' death on the cross DID deliver us from evil and DID bring the kingdom. The very act of asking the Father to do it again by quoting what is called "The Lord 's Prayer " is a denial of what He already did thru the death of His only Son!

This chapter other than the lords prayer is talking and asking why want the the things of this world when there temporary? Instead you should want whats in stored for you in heaven because god has a plan for all of us he wouldn 't do anything to us that he knows we couldn 't get through. This being said don 't try to put your heart into the world, but instead you should put your work and efforts into god because a greater prize is in store for you. I 'm not saying you should listen to the world and accept just because you want a lot of riches, but you should want to serve god and Iove him with all of your heart.

How does a spiritual child of God live in a world that is 3-dimensional and controlled by the devil? We walk by faith not by sight! II Cor.5:7 "...if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature... " II Cor.5:17 . Therefore, we must actively "Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. " Col.3:2 Let your desire to please your Heavenly Father control your life style. Let God 's Word re-train your mind, bringing your attitudes, values and beliefs back into harmony with God 's principles. And let God 's Word dictate what you allow your body to do. Rom.12:1-2 "...for they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the spirit...For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. " Rom.8:1, 5, 14 "Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind be...obedient..., not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. " I Peter 1:13-14 "...for why will ye die? " Eze.18:3l

Instead of concentrating the thoughts in the material world if one tries to redirect the power of concentration inside then no doubt the light within can be experienced. I m sure the eye which christ has spoke is not the physical one....

I was asking about fasting. Thank you. I am a daughter of God and have the Holy Spirit to guide me. He has called me daughter and I have heard him. Almost 35 years now. God sings over me. Praise God!
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 6 - 9 years ago
Part 2 of 2: What I have learned over the years it is this, it is not how long or how often you fast it is the sincerity in the fast and sacrifice that you offer up to Jesus Christ that is the key. Let me ask you this. Do you have the Holy Ghost? Have you followed Acts 2: 38? Even though there are people who fast without having followed Acts 2: 38 it helps you to have followed it in order to get the full benefit. In the end, you can fast, pray, live a clean life, sacrifice for others, but if you have not followed Acts 2: 38 before either you die during this grace age or the rapture takes place you are still lost.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 6 - 9 years ago
Part 1 of 2: Hello Joni G.: There are four types of fasting. One is an assembly called fast. This is where the leader of the church calls for a fast. Joel 1: 14 is an example of this. There is a group fast. This is where a small gathering may come together and fast and pray for various things. Paul and Barnabas give an example Acts 14: 23. Then you have the fast that a wife and husband consent to for either the both of them or one or the other. In other words, you have to get permission to go on a fast from your spouse so that Satan does not tempt you, 1 Corinthians 7: 5. Then there is the private fast. This is where a lot of people fall short. They tell everybody they are fasting. They show a sad continence. They already have their reward. Jesus Christ gave instructions on how to fast, Matthew 6: 16 thru 18.
  • Joni G on Matthew 6 - 9 years ago
Fasting. Verse 16. Also Isaiah 58. Isaiah 58 talks about God wanting us to help our brothers. Loosen the bonds of oppression. Can anyone tell me why fasting isn 't talked about much or preached about? Even in Acts 13 the apostles fasted and prayed before they went on their mission. I have heard some get answers to prayers after fasting. I know God 's timing is not our own. Can we discuss this?

Hello Gurjit Singh: and Shemdoe, Stanley: The word of God does tell us, Matthew 6: 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you . The kingdom of God is twofold, as I have explained this before, so when Jesus was talking here in Matthew he was referring to the future tense, meaning that one should be born of water and spirit. The way to do this is by following Acts 2: 38 to get into the kingdom of God. The righteousness of Jesus Christ comes by way of the Holy Ghost, Ephesians 5: 9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, 1 Timothy 3: 16.
  • Shemdoe,Stanley on Matthew 6:33 - 9 years ago
God created us for his own purpose and we are not the one to decide on how to live, to act and behave. So seeking first the kingdom of God is drawing our selves closer to God James 4:8 and he will be closer to us,then we shall know his will and act accordingly. This is the basic issue in christian life.Other things we need will be granted to us as additions. Don 't seek for addition, seek for a basic thing.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:29 - 9 years ago
Solomen, the higher rank people work hard for their dressing and arraying themselves as higher in the people. But their arrangement nowhere withstand ' the arrangement by God for even lillies, grass or birds or other small being. We should keep trust in that God is caring for us.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:27 - 9 years ago
Everything is already fixed by God.If we think we can change his plannig it is our wrong thinking. We should do prayer only for his mercy on us.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:23 - 9 years ago
Evil eye means the eye not able to see.If strength of soul of seeing soul 's eye is not awakend we can not see the divine light in the body and remains in darkness. The darkness of our sins and bad deeds supresses that forever divine light in our body.We have to remove the affects of our sins from our souls to make it able to see the divine light and obtain the mercy of God.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:22 - 9 years ago
Christ has said 'the eye ' not 'the eyes '.He is not pointing towards two physical eyes. The eye means the strength of soul of seeing. With this strength of soul we become able to see the divine light in our body.So if we awake the strength of seeing of soul or the eye of soul we will enjoy the divine light in the body.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:11 - 9 years ago
Saints always talk for our soul 's welfare.Daily bread for our soul is success in the movement towards God.So daily bread means strengthning our prayer will for getting mercy of God.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 6:1 - 9 years ago
Charity or helping other should be done in secret ,than it is accepted in the house of God.Otherwise you have got your reward by getting praises of the person being helped.
