5757:Yes, it is. You're right lent is not in the Bible. There is only one thing we could give up that The Lord desires of us. "Our Heart" We will be made new. 2Corinthians 5:17/Washed Revelation1:5/ You will beBaptized with The Holy Ghost: Matthew 3:11. / When: John 6:44, 1 John 1:9. / Which way is Right? Matthew 7:13-14.

Isn't let more a Catholic thing? Not sure, but I agree that I don't remember lent being taught in bible or by Christ himself. Either way, we're not saved by works. Fasting and prayer, daily bible reading, time spent with God is a personal and individual walk. Although it is good too be in fellowship with like minded believers. To come together in prayer and (fast When GOD Desires it of you).

Little children: if the wicked which are, believe that I walked not in their united states: then why do they work so hard and so wickedly and so diligently to cover up my tracks and memorials even to this very day? Why do the wicked stand at the graves of the prophets calling them Unknown while placing their wreath in the sight of men? If those soldiers of God were Unknown, then why did they delight in capturing and killing them: and how can they be Unknown when GOD has not forgotten them? And why do the soldiers always guard the tombs filled with marble when they are empty of men? With whom do they plan to fill them?

Yes, please keep your eyes on Jesus, a lot of preachers are crazy, I know what you are talking about, keep the faith, and look unto Jesus he loves you, but we have an enemy and sometimes Satan works through preachers, sad but true.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 6 - 7 years ago
Vs. 16, 18 - "Lent"; these vs. say not to appear unto men to fast, but to do so secretly, unto our Father in heaven, and He shall reward thee openly. If 'lent' is observed, we are showing men that we are fasting. Because if one's church does lent then they all know each other is fasting. These 2 scriptures and Jesus' 40 days say nothing of this lent 'tradition' of men.

    V. 6. If, when giving tithes and offerings, you desire to increase giving, cheerfully and lovingly, to the Lord, talk to Jesus. He will make the way for the increase, even if in small increments. Giving your income and finances to Him will allow Him to work with them. AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED at His working with your finances. He will do as He says. He will make sure you never lacking. • Joshua on Matthew 6 - 7 years ago
Seek His Kingdom first - in your heart what is laid out before you? Are you giving your all to the Lord by giving your all to Him and or people? Because the second commandment it like the first. We must do both. The second is conditional considering you love yourself first. Otherwise it impedes the commandment itself. But to go after His Kingdom - first requires a lot of not going after His Kingdom and knowing the difference. His Righteousness - Breakthroughs in personal bondage to sin and lust and pride and greed and anger and hate all have to begin with the error in doing them. After a season of recognizing personal failure can the knowledge of His Righteousness be attainable. Righteousness is given by Him. But you have to seek Him and fail to know the difference. Only by personal experience can someone actually achieve this verse over their lifetime. That is why this verse is pact with so many hints that it is a work of sanctification and not of good works but of grace because so much of it depends of Him,,..... His,.... in order for it to be realized. There is only subtle things we can do other than sit back and enjoy the process. Like kids you can imagine the weary question,..."are we there yet?,..." and the loving Father responds "No, I'll let you know when we get there."
  • Rick on Matthew 6 - 7 years ago
What does it mean to seek the Kingdom of God! That is to seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling! To seek after forgiveness and repent of all your sins, then you shall become righteous in Gods eyes! Then the blessings of God will be added to you like, peace that passeth all understanding, being fullfiled with life, being content with what you have, habe love and compassion for others etc...! That is the beauty of it all, that you become like Christ in all your ways! That is the thing we should desire and strive for, not the pleasures of our flesh!
  • Robert Johnson on Matthew 6 - 7 years ago

  • NGANGSI REGINA on Matthew 6 - 7 years ago
The ways of God are not the ways of men. If you walk in the opposite direction you are on your own and what you may be running after or being worried about may not God's will for you. So seeking the kingdom of God is knowing God's will for your life and you will meet everything destined for you as you advance.
