Hi Wayne; You're sure right! I think it would take too much time trying to run behind every one who has a mistaken notion, or strange doctrine, and get into stressful drawn out debates and strife about words; and in the end, who ever really listens anyway? "He that wins souls is wise." It is sure an art to be able to make a good connection with a soul, and help him in gaining freedom in the truth.

John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb. The Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; and therefore the Spirit of God would have always been in God; and He would never need like "created men" to have been given something as from another place. Men have the Holy Spirit of God given to them. God has His own Spirit in Him, and by His divine power sends Him out.

Vs.17 " ...This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." How tender, sweet, and personal are these words. This is God introducing those present at the baptism of Jesus, and now us as we read, to Jesus. He is identifying who Jesus is, describing how he feels about him, and approving him. So very much in just a few words.

Hi Wayne,"there are a lot of erroneous ideas."I agree, but your statement won't help anyone to learn what is error and what is truth, if you are not specific. If something I write is against scripture (erroneous idea) and scripture is given to prove my error,I certainly would like to know,I cannot repent of error if I don't know what it is. He said we are condemned and justified by our words

There are a lot of erroneous ideas here. Everyone be careful in the Lord.

Jesus is born then he is a man. What happened as he grew? Why do we baptize babies now? Did he make his holy communion?
  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
There are some who believe that the 'mystery' of God cannot be known. But, It has been 'revealed' in His Word - Eph. 1:9; Col.1:26; Eph. 3:9
  • Wayne on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
Baptism is not essential for salvation. Romans 6 and 1 Peter 3. Ephesians 2:8-10.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
Jesus, as a baby, wasn't baptized because - NO babies are baptized in the Bible. A child has to be old enough to UNDERSTAND Acts 2:38. Peter said be baptized in the NAME of Jesus; Matt. 28:19 says the same thing - baptizing them in the NAME of; Jesus is the Father, and the son (flesh) and the Holy Ghost (Spirit). 1Tim. 3:16 - " ..... GOD was manifest (as the body of Jesus) in the flesh.

  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
I've seen comments that John the Baptist was born with the Holy Ghost Jesus CHRIST was not. Notice Jesus is called Christ, which means anointed. The Holy Ghost is the - anointing, the anointing is God's spirit. The FULLNESS of the Godhead was in Jesus Jesus is God MANIFEST.

  • Daniel on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
The baptism of Jesus is to show that we all should be baptized Acts 2 38 39 tells us tjat it is essential for salvation.
  • Michael on Matthew 3 - 7 years ago
In the book of Matthew, Jesus of Nazareth tells all that one must be sent to Moses for judgment and conviction of their sins; it is then Moses who sends that person back to Jesus, to repent of their sins: then comes the fiery trials by the Holy Ghost to test new converts, to see if they truly are those who stand to His right hand, or those condemned to stand to the left.

  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 8 years ago
Tilda; 'we' don't 'accept' Christ; if you'll read the Gospels as Jesus gathered His disciples - he 'called' everyone of them; as He passed by them, they didn't say, "Hey, lets follow Jesus." John 15:16; Matt. 20:16. Jesus knows who will obey Him. Judas Iscariot was chosen to fulfill phrophecy - John 13:18, "......... I know whom i have chosen.............."

Wow glory to God,who expresses great love to everyone, because of the fact that God was well pleased in Jesus Christ it means He also is pleased with those who follow His son in truth and in Spirit,His word says for those whoaccepted Him were given power to be Children of GodGod meaning accepting Jesus Christ into our lives is accepting God's pleasure upon our lives.Glory to Jesus for channelling us to the blessings of God,Hallelujah.
  • Ajewole on Matthew 3 - 8 years ago
Jesus is our master in humility. If Jesus baptized John that day,it would cause division in the church.John baptized Jesus to fulfill all righteousness and to perfect our humility towards brethren.
