IF Jesus is God and God is Jesus why did he need to be baptized at all ? The purpose of baptism is for the remission of sin (correct me if I'm wrong) then why would Jesus need to be baptized? And if your response is he had to lead by example where in the bible does it say that his baptism is different from others?
  • Gloria Lowther on Matthew 3 - 4 years ago
I really believe that Jesus forgives and thru him only you can get to ALMIGHTY GOD.

Hi Christine, you asked..."Jesus is born then he is a man. What happened as he grew? Why do we baptize babies now? Did he make his holy communion?" Not much is know of Jesus' childhood, no one was there to 'record it write it down'. A good movie that shows a little is "Jesus of Nazareth"...Are you a Catholic? I was raised Catholic...it would be my guess that NO, Jesus didn't make Holy Communion

    Mathew 3: 11-12

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Baptize with water he did not understand. That means to be baptized in the people. He is doing both for he expects them to confess their sins. Learning about the evil people do. Now he is

Jehovah God acknowledged the relationship that he had with Jesus. He clearly stated that this was his son and he approved of him even if others did not.
  • Archie Vanderver on Matthew 3 - 5 years ago
I believe with all my heart that Jesus is the only way to salvation, For He said ,,, No one sees the Father except through me! And its only through Jesus that you can be saved!

  • Mimikely on Matthew 3 - 5 years ago
John the Baptist preached about Jesus coming upon earth, for only by Him this world might be saved and shall receive the kingdom of Heaven. In the moment that John spoke, Jesus was not yet crucified, and the blood of the everlasting covenant has not yet been brought. But if we look at Luke 17:20-21, it is clear that the kingdom of Heaven may dwell in us. How? Rev 3:20
  • Bruce on Matthew 3 - 5 years ago
Heaven, was unattainable You Could not Touch it. Now that The Son of God was Born in Bethlehem about 4-7 AD, and Paid for Your Sin, The Kingdom is within Reach, Except a Man be Born-again He cannot See The Kingdom of God( John 3:3) First Time The Word was Here in The Flesh, Jesus Will be Back Again After The Rapture and Place His Feet on Earth) The Lost will be in The Lake of Fire(Revelation20:15
  • Alex on Matthew 3 - 5 years ago
They asked Jesus b/f he ascended will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel and he replied it is not for you to know the times and seasons the Father has put in his own power but you will receive power after the H.G. has come upon you SO THE KINGDOM DIDN'T COME AT THAT TIME REV 12 V1O IMPLIES THE KINGDOM WILL COME WHEN THE WOMAN GIVES BIRTH THUS WE WILL RECEIVE THE KINGDOM AS A LIL CHILD
  • Michele on Matthew 3 - 5 years ago
Matthew 3:2 What does the kingdom of heaven is at hand mean to you? Do you think Jesus
lied when he said, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand".? I believe He's already come, in 70 AD. There are many versus's that would support my theory. I only read the Bible, so my knowledge comes from God alone.

as you see he his saying repent from your own thoughts, your own ways and follow God's divine way, sin is the devil device. Repentances means to repent with all your heart to God, be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and to be purged from your sinful ways, be made new with the spirit, remember you cant serve 2 gods but only 1, I choose our Father who art in Heaven, Amen! be baptized, be cleansed!
  • Max on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
verse 11; if you are baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire it is a privilege an adventure you have been giving dunamis power to fulfill the life of a disciple victoriously. you understand that you are a son. yet our ability to chose is not taken away

Anti-NWO; You say it quite accurately! With the advent of Rabbinic Judaism about 150 years (?) before; by the time John the Baptist began preaching and announcing the coming of the Saviour; it was a Country filled with Synagogues, zealots and sects; run by an extremely rich and powerful elite class, who were entrenched in a self-made system completely alienated and hostile to the Spirit of Christ.
  • Anti-NWO on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
As usual, the Synagogue of Satan is insane with jealousy and fear that John will destroy their power over the masses. By this time the Tora is a matter of convenience; the Satanic oral Babylonian Talmud is what is being preached in the Synagogues. John is well aware of their Satanic practice that is destroying the people. Clearly, he is helping to start our Saviors ministry and then step aside.

Verse 4: This shows that John the Baptist lived a simple life. His clothing was simple and so was the food that he ate.

Stuart, Jesus said those were the two GREATEST commandments on which hung all the law and the prophets. He gave us OTHER commandments in the gospel, including the great commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel, healing and doing deliverance in His name. We are also to forgive as He forgave us if we are to be forgiven, and love one another as He loved us.
  • Stuart Rubin on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
The whole New Testament is true and inspired by God. Paris Jesus our Lord and Saviour. Jesus summed up all the commandments saying there are only 2 commandments. Love God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbor as you love God or as you love yourself.

"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:" Rabbinic Judaism of Jesus' day was a man-made system carefully contrived to enslave its adherents to hypocrisy, and completely shut them out from the knowledge of God in Christ.
  • I AM on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me does bear witness of me. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood:) And these three agree in one. Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have. For I am not alone, but it is I and the Father that sent me.

God was pleased with Jesus because He Jesus walked by Faith : Everything Jesus did , He did by Faith in what God said : So ought I to walk : Everything I hear from God in His word and by direction of Holy Spirit I should do . God will be pleased in me !!

Lu2677; Luke 3:23 - "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph.." There are actual records that can be found relating to the things that were happening back then; so that we can with reasonable certainty know that Jesus died April 3rd, and rose again April 6th in A.D. 37; the same year that Matthew wrote his Evangel Narrative in Hebrew.

  • Lu2677 on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
I really would like to know where people get the idea that Jesus was 30 years old, or about 30 years old when he started his public ministry.
  • Lu2677 on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
I'm thankful that Jesus, the apostles and Paul, etc., did not grow weary contending for the faith, tearing down strongholds and every high thing that comes against the gospel, all of which he tells believers to do and do well. I guess imprisonment, being beaten, stoned, slandered against, crucified, was not stressfull !
  • Lu2677 on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
I don't think contending for the truth against "strange doctrine" is the same as, "debating over words." Strange doctrine is not sound doctrine, it is not the gospel of Christ.
  • Felicia on Matthew 3 - 6 years ago
    Christine
Jesus as a human being grew like a normal child in His family home we will assume that He was helping His father Joseph in the carpentry shop. At the age of 12 Bible says He was sort of asking and answering questions in the synagogue. About the age of 30 His earthly ministry began. Bible believing churches don't baptize babies. They are dedicated to God.
