    Johnnie,

    Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:1-12, Ephesians 4:5,

I think the main point is the outward living life, dead to the flesh ( selfishness, bad actions, etc. ) resurrection in the last days, is the goal. Mark 10:38, Luke 12:50, Colossians 2:12-14, 1Peter 3:18-22,

    * Romans 6:3,4, please read all of Romans 6, chapter, Colossians 3:1-17,

    John 12:23-36, Romans 8:13, Luke 14:27-33,

    Hopefully these are helpful

If you have trouble understanding pray for wisdom: James 1:5

Some people believe you must be baptized in the name of Jesus only and others say baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Should we do both or is either alright with God?
  • Gerald - In Reply on Matthew 28 - 1 year ago
Jesus taught that if a man looks at a woman with lust in his heart he has already committed adultery .

The idea that a homosexual who does not the act but holds the desire in his heart is ok then is absurd .

The deep root cause of homosexuality is found in Romans . Men no keeping the knowledge of God in their minds .

At root that is the cause . From that root you have many branches of why .

Homosexuality is not a sickness to be cured of it is a sin to be repented of as any other .

Indeed we all have to come to a place where we not only repent of what we have done, but must also repent of what we are .Sinners .

The answer is the same for all .

"If any man be in Christ they are a new creation ,behold all old things have passed away and behold all things have become new"

"For if you have dies to sin how then can you live in it"?

A man may struggle as any man does with sin as Paul also in z Romans shows . But he also gives the answer " Thanks be unto zGod who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ .

No matter what man says you can be delivered from the power of that sin as any man can be delivered from any other sin .

What is the Bible's view of Homosexuality ?

Some have said they are attracted to the same sex but they don't act on it...Is that a sin?

    Hi Brain,

Not sure why Matthew Henry chose to go there using 2 Cor. 4:6, when the angel was the one whose countenance was like lightning. Matthew Henry commented it is often mentioned in the New Testament, as the day which Christians religiously observed in solemn assemblies, to the honor of Christ. This can be debated there are as many mentioning they met on the Sabbath because they did not have bibles like we have today and the only way to hear the scriptures was in the temple or synagogues on the Sabbath. We also see in scriptures they met every day of the week Acts 2:46-47.

What is not talked about very much, Jesus rose on the day of the Feast of Firstfruits. That is the first day after the Sabbath after Passover which is the first day of the week. Jesus is the Firstfruits of those who slept, 1 Cor. 15:20. It is also the first day counting each day of the 7 Sabbaths that brings us to the second harvest we call Pentecost that means 50 that is 7 Sabbaths plus 1 day.

The Jewish day starts at sundown at ends at sundown so in Matthew 28:1 Mark 16:2 Luke 24:1 and John 20:1 when the sun went down on the Sabbath it was the first day of the week. The women headed to the tomb with the spices to anoint Jesus and the sun was just about to come up except for Mary Magdalene, she was the first to go and it was still dark, John 20:1 but it was the first day of the week.

Romans 14 should help, if you will study all four accounts of this day it will shine light on many things. As Jesus told the woman at the well John 4:24-25.

Someone said, we are not called to go to church we are called to be the church and that is every day.

    God bless,

Brian I invite you to look at Collosians 2:16-23 the reason being Christ fulfilled the law and opened the age ofm Grace Pentecost

which is the day and time we live in. for us believers everyday is the sabbath, we are complete in Christ. The proof of this is

which day was the sabbath in the garden of eden. The answer is it did not exist until exodus when the law was given. remember

the sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath. Our walk now is the law of love, accomplished by walking in Christ

summed up in Mathew 22:37-40. Some things to consider.

Hi Brian , I don't read commentaries , when you first start reading the Bible , I think it's best to just read it yourself , several times and then once you feel that you have some understanding maybe that would be a good time to read a commentary , so that it adds to your understanding , for me , you have to have some understanding before looking into other people's ideas and beliefs , that's just my thoughts . Everything you need to know is in there , as long as you are patient and persistent you will be able to put the pieces together for yourself I'm sure . For me , a commentary is an aide to enhance your understanding , hopefully smiley face , at worst it could just confuse you . God meant His Word to be understood , ask Him to help you , keep your heart and mind open and you will be fine .

Matthew Henry's commentary for Matthew 28 says, "On the first day of the first week God commanded the light to shine out of darkness. (On this day did He who is the Light of the world, shine out of the darkness of the grave;) and this day is from henceforward often mentioned in the New Testament, as the day which Christians religiously observed in solemn assemblies, to the honour of Christ."

I struggle with this commentary as it seems clear that Jesus rose from the grave on the weekly Sabbath. All four gospels reveal this. So, it's unsettling that most Christendom worships on a day, built on misinformation and that seems dedicated to the Sun and Sun-god worship.

N.B. I'm not advocating returning to the Law (especially the Satanic Noahide Laws) but since we live under Grace, why don't we celebrate the day of Creation & the Resurrection on the real day?
  • Steve Schoenberger - In Reply on Matthew 28:1 - 1 year ago
    Great question.

The vast majority of Christianity will agree that we are to follow Jesus' earthly ministry as you ask.

Then they will go on to pick and choose what things to follow.

How do you think we got so many denominations today?

Jesus said clearly he was only sent to Israel during his earthly ministry. ( Matt 10, Matt 15)

Hardly anyone in Christianity believes this.

The things you listed were directly to Israel, to whom he was ministering. (Compare Rom 15:8 and Rom 15:16)

These things must be rightly divided.

Jesus sent Paul to the Gentiles after Israel rejected their Messiah.

This is because Israel was supposed to be a light to the Gentiles as seen in the OT.

The things you listed cannot save us today.

Salvation today is by grace through faith in the finished work of the cross, not works.

Paul is our Apostle and Paul reveals the good news of the cross.

Gods purpose for Israel is separate and distinct from the purpose he has for the body of Christ.

Today Christianity has basically all moved to the allegorical interpretation of the Bible.

The kingdom Jesus came to set up is Israel's earthly kingdom just like the OT teaches.

Christianity has stolen this from Israel and spiritualized it to "Jesus ruling in our hearts"

Learn to read your Bible literally and all these questions go away.

.....Josef....We should still do all those things...but the only thing that plzs GOD is a NEW CREATURE...Which is the H.G. the Child of PROMISE....That we have to birth via his good seed the living word....Jesus commanded them to be bornagain of an incorruptible seed...Even by his Words....Our new heart and a new spirit is the only thing that plzs God..The H.G....She brought forth a man Child that was caught up to God and to his throne....And this Child will RULE all nations ....The Child is that New Creature....New to us but old to God....They will bring forth things out of their treasure ( our hearts ) things New and old...

"Teaching them to observe whatsoever I have commanded you."

If you believe Jesus is God then aren't whatever He commanded his Disciples to do be things that we also should do? Baptize, repent, turn the other cheek, love each other, do good, be the salt and light of the world, feed the poor, care for the sick, widows and orphans, visit those in prison, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, give freely to those that need, expect no repayment, be careful that you don't strive after money and the things of this world, live humbly, share, be generous, pray, be careful how you judge, to name some.
  • Giannis - In Reply on Matthew 28 - 1 year ago
In my opinion dear Robin, nobody can get rid of bad habits/passions/sins unless God frees him. i.e. just think of a guy who is a drug addict who believes in Jesus sometime in his life. How is he going to get freed from his passion? On his own? Is that possible? Of course not. Nomatter how hard he tries he will never succeed. He needs God's strentgh/grace to do that. The same happens with all habits/passions/sins.

Apostle Paul in Romans 8:13 makes a very significant statement.

"For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live"

What does he mean with "deeds of body"? The answer is in Galatians 5:19-21

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, AND SUCH LIKE: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God"

The above works of flesh/deeds of body are what we call bad habits/passions/sins. Is smoking or any other addiction mentioned? They are all included in "THE SUCH LIKE"

So what do you need to get freed? The answer is the Holly Spirit. It is sometimes impossible for men to "mortify the deeds of the body". This what God's Spirit does.

So go to the Lord and ask Him to free you, ask for His strength, His grace, His Spirit to work in/on you. But when you go to God you have to make sure that you really want to get freed, you have to be honest with the Lord, and sincere about it. Will God answer back? He will definitely do that. I have seen so many examples in my life, people that get freed from smoking, drugs, alcohol, adultery, fornification, gambling...anything that has enslaved them. So go to God.

And a verse especially for you:

John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

    GBU

oh ok - you used the word "promiscuous". nothing to do with smoking. addiction is a spirit which needs to be rebuked, fasting and prayer helps.
  • Christian to the core - In Reply on Matthew 28 - 1 year ago
Honey, I am looking up where I gathered up these little tidbits so I could source them first. But in a nutshell, I was talking more about the lack of strength to stop an old habit like cigarette smoking, and asking was it like spitting in my Lord's face every time I light a cigarette when I know it's wrong. From what I understand promiscuous doesn't have to mean see.
  • Honey - In Reply on Matthew 28 - 1 year ago
Jesus said Go and sin no more. Because it is possible to stop sinning if you want to. If you continue volunteering to sin (fornicate) then you are not in obedience with Jesus. Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Pray to Jesus to break the bondage of sexual sin, back 10 generations in Jesus name and confess the sins of your fathers. Generational sin can put us in bondage.

Dear "Robin Burcham" Revelation 20:15 example:

I read something today that i noticed. Paul writes in 1Timothy 5:1-16 that we must not choose widow until they are 60 years old. To serve in the church, appealingly abusive to all genders, men and women. And then here many teachers simply fail to see the truth. That in the Lord are men also the women. (now it will be a memory room)!

Because they would fail the church in some way. Even then, do not stick to the church and the word. It seems that Dear Paul was very concerned about the widows. And that he simply may not dare to mention the boys/men.

Now we know that before God we are equal. That is why all younger people are meant here as well. I believe that the Lord will lead us fully to the truth. John 16:13 So when you are young / have habits / or in other ways show your childhood / youth. Then this will be refined with the realization and growth in God. For the day will come when we will stand before the Judge, and then it is good that all our cases are settled with the Lord.

All habits / bad habits will peel off us. For with God we are One.

So make your best friend, and ask for forgiveness if you know it's wrong. And if you know it's wrong, that mistake will chase you until it's no longer a mistake. Hope you understand.

And the day He reveals Himself then we probably have other things to think about :) God Is a great God no one is above or beside our God. He has conquered death, so it no longer has any power! In His Blood we have received healing, hallelujah Amen in Jesus Christ's holy name, stand strong in the Bible and Jesus, friend and all evil will flee from you. Love u in Christ. He Is the one who is great here on earth and is no small god you must believe. He will have all the glory forever, so great is He.

Can you show me in the Bible (New Testament) where it says a person's name in the Book of Life will not be erased since Jesus Christ died for our sins:? What about promiscuous ( sin one knows is sin, but cannot kick the habit?

    Hey Raymond,

We see this in Matthew 17:1-9 Mark 9:2-10 and Luke 9:28-36, some may believe Moses and Elijah were in heaven and came and appeared, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up to the mountain, He was transfigured before them and Moses and Elijah appeared talking to Jesus.

If we take note of what Matthew writes, "And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead"

It was a vision and a confirmation from God to these three that Jesus is the Son of God and the Law and Prophets will be fulfilled with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Mark 9:10 another place that shows things were hidden from the apostles until the Holy Spirit brought remembrance to them of what things Jesus had told them, John 14:26.

One other thing, Jesus is the Firstfruits of them that slept, 1 Corinthians 15:20. Jesus was the first to be raised from death Acts 2:24. No one has ascended to heaven, John 3:13 and no one will overcome death until Jesus returns on the day of redemption, Ephesians 4:30.

In my understanding of scripture to us today, Moses and Elijah are awaiting the resurrection, with no knowledge or time in death, to them, it has already come.

    God bless,

Faith, I agree. I believe the church began with Jesus' ministry at the time of His baptism when He called his first disciples. At Pentecost, the church existed already with the apostles and disciples gathered there in obedience to Jesus instructions. Jesus, before is ascension, before Pentecost, re-taught His disciples all that He had taught them before His crucifixion and resurrection. He opened up the Scriptures from the books of Moses' on to that present time to teach them about Himself. He was teaching His church at this time. He prayed for them at His Last Supper. They were the church then, breaking bread with him and drinking the wine of Communion. The church started with Jesus during His life on earth, in my opinion.

In verse 18 Jesus says all power is GIVEN unto me in heaven and earth .

Who is the superior one that gave him this power ? Must be his father God .

But Matthew 28: 18 is after he was risen, His blood resulted in a new covenant which was the baptism of Promise ,Baptising them in the Name of the father Son and the H.G. was the baptism of Promise. As Jesus said wait for the Promise of the Father Which ye have heard of me ( his words seeds etc) ye shall be baptised with the H.G not many days hence which was the Promise baptism. As the H.G. fell on them that heard his words etc. Back in the upper room he breathe on them which was his breath his words the good seeds but the Child did not come till Pentecost,b/f the cross they only received the good seed, his breathe etc. The H.G. was the Child of Promise that did not come till Pentecost,That mighty rushing wind was the H.G. the Child of Promise . That which is Born of the spirit is spirit thats the H.G. the Child of Promise. Unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child ye will in no wise enter there in. Remember he told em b/c i have spoken these words his seeds, his breath, sorrows have filled your hearts a spritual pregnancy etc. But after the Child comes her sorrows are turned into joy. The new Birth, The Church is the woman that is gona birth a baby CHRIST. via his seeds etc. When Jeremiah saw the new covenant he also saw All men in travail and birth pains. The Child is the H.G A HEAVENLY JACOB THE GRANSON THAT WILL RESULT IN AN Israel of God. A time of Jacobs troubles there is gonna be war in heaven when the woman gives birth her Child is the H.G. tHAT heavenly JACOB MEANING THERE IS GONNA BE AN ISRAEL OF GOD that is gona be as the stars of heaven. k later
