Believers will give an account of their stewardship on earth when at the judgement seat of Christ. James Hollandsworth has a very helpful message on this passage entitled, " Parables of Talents and Pounds " in his series Rightly Dividing the Parables.

God gave you the gift of life, What you do with it is your gift to him,So be sure to give him a gift that is worth receiving.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Matthew 25 - 7 years ago
The message that rings throughout this chapter is that we should be ever ready for we know not when the Lord shall come. Readiness means being in a state where we can qualify for the Lord's Kingdom. Readiness means being at the centre of God's Will all the time. We cannot achieve this state by our power or might but by the Grace of God. Salvation is through Grace.
  • Lillie on Matthew 25 - 7 years ago
I think we must always live our life preparing for the return of Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 25 - 7 years ago
The 'oil' is the symbolic of the Holy Ghost: being prayed up in the spirit everyday - and that is not referring to Jesus' 'example' prayer in Matt. - "Our Father which art in Heaven ..... "; repeating this everyday as one's 'prayer life' is tatamount to saying the rosary. We are to 'converse' with Him Just as we'd talk to our earthly fathers about our needs and/or just how much we love Him.

Cosmos, we cannot be firm in the Lord with our might. He is strong we are weak. Talk to the Lord stating your problem. Tell Him you have to help me because I cannot do it. Tell Him, you have to do it. You have to make it work in me. He loves to cleanse in our inner man. He works in our spirits for our purification. Trust Him. He will do it! God Bless!

    John 5:19 (KJV)

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

    John 5:30 (KJV)
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of t

My sister you cannot do it alone/ is spiritual battle (KJV Eph. 6:11-17). Apostle Paul struggled with flesh ( Romans 7:14-25) he said the good I want I do not do. He reassures (1.Cor:10:13) God will not allow more than you can bear. You must choose in the MOMENT of temptation for God to help ( Matt. 10:19).

I thank the lord for showing yet another time that Life is GREAT when you have the Lord and Jesus by your side day in and day out. I thank you lord for giving the chance to get back on track with my life and serve you in the way you have chosen for me.
  • Paul on Matthew 25 - 8 years ago
In today's time, I believe many have lost site of this one verse. Many people don't focus or can't focus on the end because they are so occupied with the current and the right now. This simple and yet powerful verse should always stay on the mind of the believers. The part that really gets me is when HE says you have been faithful ovr a "few" things. The question that comes to my mind is, Lord what are those few things that I may continue to abide in doing? Is it merely just doing what it takes to remain in your perfect will? Or is it just living holy and living completly by his words? I just wasnt to hear him say well done.

This very powerful inspiration. I have been trying to move away with sin, but after few days that I know I am gradually moving towards the Almighty, then something sinful comes to my way. I need help to be firm in the Lord. Thanks in advance for any one who wish to help me.
  • Lilian on Matthew 25 - 8 years ago
Put God first into your life. We must be Born Again in Spirit and not in the Flesh. there are a lot of people seeking Peace and Divine Happiness in the wrong Church. Blessed are those Servants of God who obey God's words. It is commandment to give Tithes in the House of God and use tithes in God's ways. God will reward for those who obey his words. Give thanks to the blood of Jesus and praise Him.

JESUS SAYS ONLY THE ONES ON THE RIGHT WILL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD! TO BE ON THE RIGHT, WE MUST RECEIVE SOMETHING ONLY GOD CAN GIVE US WHICH IS LOVE!!! LOVE CARES FOR NOT ONLY THE PEOPLE WE KNOW AND LOVE US, BUT IT ALSO CARES FOR OUR NEIGHBORS WHO WE MIGHT NOT KNOW AS MUCH! THE ONES ON THE RIGHT WILL HELP THOSE WHO ARE HUNGRY, THIRSTY, STRANGERS, WITHOUT CLOTHES, AND WILL VISIT THE ONES IN PRISON! GOD DID NOT GIVE US LOVE TO SIT DOWN ON IT IN A CHURCH PUE, BUT HE GAVE US LOVE TO SPREAD TO THOSE WHO ARE UNFORTUNATE! I KNOW ITS TIGHT BUT ITS RIGHT! JUST READ MATHEW 25 AND SEE WHAT JESUS TELL U! LORD THANK U FOR FORGIVING US FOR SINS! HELP US LORD TO SHOW THE LOVE U HAVE SHOWN US EVEN WHEN WE WERE DEAD IN SIN! LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS US TO BE A BLESSING! AMEN! GLORY BE TO GOD!!!

AMEN regarding the brother commenting on food stamps. May God bless you. All politics, opinions and blame aside: if one has a need of the soul and the LORD has given one of us the means to fill it then we must do it joyfully and with no questions asked.
  • John madden on Matthew 25:30 - 8 years ago
Cast him out .he didnt go into the joy of the lord .some only presume upon salvation .thier are byproducts of a true servant the other two showed what true faith is .he showed what dead faith is
  • John madden on Matthew 25:24 - 8 years ago
The slothful servant had the wrong view of god he was called wicked and slothful. Maybe a pretender at first but his end would be he was cast out from the presence of god
  • Frances on Matthew 25:35 - 8 years ago
People who have negative things to say regarding food stamps really need to apply this scripture to their daily lives. Except for the Grace of God it could be them needing the food stamps.
  • John madden on Matthew 25:12 - 8 years ago

When my Stepson was a small child and came to meet me for the first time he had picked a small yellow wild flower from the grass, with our eyes meeting and our two fingers touching across my desk and his little face smiling," he said, this flower is for you.". My grandson entered the Joy of my heart The Joy of our Lord is to come to him as a little child and serve him faithfully and we will bring Joy to our Lord.

JESUS OFTEN GAVE HIS DISCIPLES PARABLES SO THEY CAN GET SOME SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING! IN THIS PARABLE FIVE WAS WISE AND FIVE WAS FOOLISH! MEANING FIVE WISE WAS READY FOR THE COMING OF THE BRIDEGROOM CAUSE THEY KEPT OIL FOR THEIR LAMPS, WHILE THE FIVE FOOLISH DID 'NT CARE ABOUT KEEPING OIL ON THEM AND RAN OUT! THE SCRIPTURE SAID THAT THE BRIDEGROOM TOOK A LONG TIME BEFORE HE CAME TO SEE THE TEN VIRGINS BUT THE FIVE WISE STAYED READY BUT THE FIVE FOOLISH DID NOT! SO WHEN THE BRIDEGROOM CAME ONLY FIVE OF THE TEN VIRGINS MADE IT IN! WE AS BELIEVERS OF CHRIST MUST NOT RUN OUT OF OIL WHILE WAITING FOR HIS RETURN! WE MUST CONTINUE TO FILL OUR LAMPS WITH THE OIL OF THE WORD SO OUR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT! Mathew 5:14 -JESUS SAID, "WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, A CITY ON A HILL CANNOT BE HIDDEN "! WE CANT AFFORD TO LET THE LIGHT OF JESUS GROW DIM IN THESE LAST AND EVIL DAYS! TOO MANY SOULS ARE AT STATE FOR US TO RUN OUT OF OIL IN OUR LAMPS! LORD FORGIVE US FOR LETTING OUR OIL RUN AT TIMES! LORD HELP US TO UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF KEEPING OUR LAMPS FILLED WITH THE OIL OF THE WORD!AMEN! GLORY BE TO GOD!!!

Shockingly, The individual who received the one talent refers to the majority of your local Pastors. These demonically influenced Pastors fail to exchange their LORD 'S money for food and raiment for those without as detailed in verses 41 through 46. Thus, exchangers in this case would refer to a store cashier. Also see John chapter 10 regarding Pastors as hirelings, Malachi chapter 3 as robbers and especially Jeremiah chapter 23 which provide both amazing and disturbing truth regarding the common Pastor in today 's local churches. These modern-day Pastors tend to steal their LORD 'S money while withholding the truth of our loving and merciful GOD, usually by preaching unfounded threats of eternal hell-fire while covering up our LORD 'S wrath which is imminent. May the LORD bless all who yearn for the knowledge of the truth. Amen

Faithfulness to me is to seek. First the king for his will. And way of doing his word . Then obeying it at all times then through his strength i will remain faithful to god first and then my husband. Ps Jesus is my husband first .
