The Bible says flesh and blood will not enter into heaven with flesh and bone will because Jesus had flesh and bone with his new body his glorified body if a man and woman are of the same flesh then want that be of the same flesh in heaven why wouldn't God let us stay with our spouse that doesn't make sense because that's the joys of living for God he meant before Satan took over for us to live on this Earth as man and wife until Satan got in and messed it up and I think my opinion my opinion only we will go back and be man and wife in heaven there won't be no marrying or giving in marriage because I've been with my wife for 50 years and death did not separate us because I believe we're going to be eternally remember we are known as we are known we will have a mother and dad in heaven a brother and sister if you have a mother and dad then that means that they are man and wife you can't be a man and wife or a father and mother and God's will unless you are married and I don't mean the old marriage were the people used to get together and make a deal to have better financial unions we marry for love like our soulmates that's my opinion and remember Jesus said all with all things are possible with God

The question about predestination: I believe God knows all - therefore he already knows, and draws his children to himself. As the scripture says 'many are called, but few are chosen' - again God already knows those who are chosen, hence predestination.

You chose to apply to that business. They are interested in your resume.

The door is propped open. It is your time to show you are exactly the person they need. Be truthful; don't gush.

Jesus is knocking on doors (hearts). Either we are going to open and invite him in: or we will refuse, or say comeback next week.

    But next week never comes.

Example: You apply for a job, they call and tell you that you have the job and show up for an interview, from then on it is your choice if you show up or not.

    Wesley's Notes for Matthew 22:14

22:14 Many are called; few chosen - Many hear; few believe. Yea, many are members of the visible, but few of the invisible Church. # Mt 20:16

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 22:14

Mt 22:14 For many are called, but few [are] chosen. "The many called" embrace all who hear the gospel; the whole Jewish nation, and the Gentiles of every land where the gospel is preached. The chosen are those who choose to accept.

Are all people called by the Lord?
  • Jezebel Unmasked on Matthew 22 - 3 years ago
Jezebel spirit is one of the most dangerous spirits you will come into contact. If you are not careful, this spirit can damage or destroy your relationship with others, your marriage, and ministry.

The danger is not being able to recognize Jezebel's characteristics and being lured into her circle of disciples. If you don't understand how dangerous this spirit is, you need to do some study. The Jezebel spirit is a demonic spirit pretending to be concerned with your wellbeing. Don't get deceived.

The Bible talks about Queen Jezebel in the Old Testament that was married to King Ahab. Remember Queen Jezebel was wicked and murdered many of God's prophets. In the New Testament, the name Jezebel comes up again. Obviously, this is not the same person in the Old Testament, but a spirit called Jezebel that appears again. We can learn much by studying the characteristics of a Jezebel spirit. Here is the New Testament Scriptural reference.

"Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works." Revelation 2:20-23)

Notice five short descriptions of the Jezebel spirit above. She calls herself a prophetess, teaches, seduces, lives in rebellion, and has a turbulent life. (Mentally)

Resurrection means, a person who has died has his body (or, remains) physically raised from the grave without any human contribution, i.e. the body rises up & comes to life by God's Power.

In that passage you've quoted, Jesus was speaking with the Sadducees (a religious sect of the Jews) who didn't believe in the resurrection. They wanted to test Jesus about the after life as to which wife of the many a man had married, would be his wife when they all rose from the dead. Jesus told them that human marriage is an earthly union & such marriages don't figure in Heaven. Of those who were resurrected, we of course have Jesus Himself Who rose up from the dead & ascended back to God proving that His Sacrifice for mankind's sins were completed & fully acceptable to God Who had planned for this to happen. Then after Jesus' resurrection, many of those righteous people who had died earlier also arose from their graves & walked among the people (see Matthew 27:51-53).

The Bible tells us that the next occasion of a resurrection will be in the future when Jesus comes to take away His people including raising up His people who have died ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) & note the word 'sleep' is a euphemism for those who've already died. And again, after the Great Tribulation (a horrible time of the outpouring of God's Anger upon the world) there will be another general resurrection (read Revelation chapter 20).

There are also instances where someone has died & they have come to life in the Old Testament: 1 Kings 17:17-24; 2 Kings 4:32-37; 2 Kings 13:21 and we have instances in the New Testament of people being brought back to life by Jesus or His disciples.

For many are called (kletos: to call, invite, welcome, appoint), but few are chosen (Eklektos: chosen, elected). . . For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren. Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called (kaleo: specifically, aloud by name), and whom He called, them He also justified, and whom He justified, them He also glorified. Romans 8: 29 & 30. Peace!

Let every multitude confess "Jesus Christ is God". He was crucified and was resurrected and went to Heaven. He is coming back as He promised.
  • Mishael to Bob H - In Reply on Matthew 22 - 3 years ago
Are you like this all the time? Do you know what it's like to live with someone who counters everything you say or do with 19 scriptures to explain Bob's take on it?

I used to be annoying too because I study all manner of things, like geology, meteorology, archeology, space, earthquakes, active volcanos, weird art.

I'm like a big sponge. I have an outlet for it, tho. My kid knows I do this and he studies stuff too. Lol. We have lively discussions.

I've been a lot happier since I really noticed how Jesus handled crowds, his disciples, his parents, Pharisees. I studied his every move and manner; how he drew on experiences of the crowd to tell his parables. He was righteous inside, but his heart was Mercy. Pharisees and scribes were complete opposite and didn't understand what Jesus was saying or doing, because their minds were rock hard about their "office" or profession. Jesus cares very much about simpler people; teachable people; children.

I was taught in church that people who say BUT a lot are really goats because they were always butting heads with others. Not open to anything not in their file box.

I saw Him or a vision for seconds. What I saw 35 years ago, has never faded. He erased all my knowledge and some memories. When I realized it, I never missed it one bit. All I want to know is Jesus, the Son of God. He has plans for our lives and often we weave in and out of that. If people coming in here, could really grasp who Jesus is; It would totally change their lives. Son of Man. All GOD and all human. He knows the person who lives inside of our soul; mind. We can't hide nothing.

Why not tell people about what Bob knows intimately, about Jesus. Your personal relationship with your Savior. And how they can have it to. Can you explain the Majesty of the Godhead to simple people? Who need Light so they can find Jesus in a dark world that's getting darker? Just think on it. I love you Bob, in Jesus.

Darby's family, that great "Christian", pre trib scholar owned Leap castle in Ireland reported to be the most haunted castle in the land. Birds of a feather.

Scofield who popularized the rapture in the USA cheated his mother in law out of her life savings and never repaid her. Supposedly he got "saved" in prison.

For all you Scofield lovers - get out your zionist Scofield Bible and read

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Scofield footnote "O" says this verse has no real Biblical authority - in other words it does not belong in the Bible....

He was a charlatan and pseudo Bible scholar and you trust his pre trib rapture notes and dispensational theology?

He never paid a penny of support to his kids? both daughters said that and the Bible says in the mouths of 2 or 3 witnesses let everything be established.

He went to jail for swindling his mother in law of her life savings and NEVER paid her back

even when he made big money with the bible sales. WHY did he never repay them?

Why did he leave his DIVORCED wife and kids penniless?

Scofield's daughter and wife begged him to help them and he did nothing. Scofield made big money off his fake bible and did nothing for his kids.

1 Timothy 5:8But if any provide not for his own [family], and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. The Bible says Scofield was an infidel.

No, it was UNGODLY people too lazy to study the bible who ignored his sins and filled those "churches" .

that is why harry potter outsells the "bible" today

When Hollywood makes movies about "LEFT BEHIND" you better check your theology.

Read Jesus in Matthew 13:30 when he said in the parable of the wheat that the tares or weeds get TAKEN FIRST.

So did Jesus get mistaken about the rapture timing?
  • Rick Colombe on Matthew 22 - 3 years ago
To Mickey and others who have embraced the "rapture theory". I gave an incorrect date of 1844. The "rapture theory" was actually "invented" in 1830 by John Nelson Darby and was embraced by Margaret MacDonald from Scotland. Do your research and you'll find the "rapture" is a false doctrine. May God bless you and keep you true to His Word.
  • Rick Colombe on Matthew 22 - 3 years ago
To Mickey on Matthew 22. I would love to know exactly where in God's Word it talks about being "raptured". You even give a when, where, etc. and what comes after this rapture. I suggest you do prayerful research on this subject, where you'll not find a"rapture" in God's written word. Look up Margaret McDonold. I will. I believe the date was 1844.

    Your're honesty is appreciated.

That was Old Testament Law, or the Law of Moses, and has no impact today.

That was a different time and the mind set of women back then were not of the mind set of women today.

Matthew 22:41-46 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

( Mark 12:36) For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

    The Godhead set forth:

David himself said by the Holy Ghost (Holy Ghost, member of the Godhead)

LORD, is God the Father (member of the Godhead)

said unto my Lord, is Jesus Christ, David's Lord. (member of the Godhead)

So, God the Father said unto David's Lord Jesus Christ, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

This would have been the first time these Sanhedrins would have heard of God being present as 3 separate personages.

Now they were beholding God speaking in His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are One God but three separate personages.

Helena, in the Eastern/Middle Eastern culture of that time, the right & proper thing to do for the widow was that she was cared for & provided for. She wasn't just a baby-maker, because the unmarried brother was duty-bound to look after his deceased brother's wife. And of course, there was a sense of societal stigma associated with an unattached woman. In other words, in those cultures it would be awful for a woman to be 'left on the shelf'. Refer to the book of Ruth to get the full story: a good example of widow Ruth, a Moabitess lady, who married Boaz, a kinsman-redeemer (also a picture of Christ's redeeming work for those He purchases). In India, amongst Hindus, if a woman's husband died, she could not face the shame of being on her own & unprotected, so while he was being cremated, she would then cast herself alive on the funeral pyre (known as Sati, pron. Sutti). This has been outlawed now, but still goes on in remote parts. I hope this gives you better understanding.
  • Helena on Matthew 22:24 - 3 years ago
This is disturbing, it makes me so sick that if a woman was with and man and he died she would be forced to marry his brother!!! I'm sick and tired of women being treated as if all they are good for is making babies
  • Joe - In Reply on Matthew 22 - 4 years ago
David - I think you said it all - show others the way while keeping ourselves on the strait and narrow trying to be the best example that we can be. There are many aspects, but if you want to say a main purpose, I believe it is to follow Jesus Christ as an example. When unsure - study/remember/reread the scriptures. I have never yet encountered a situation where scripture failed to provide a clear sense of direction - although maybe not what I wanted to do or hear, it has always been the right thing.

I believe after the Rapture that married couples will know each other. We will have discarded our fleshly bodies for spiritual bodies that don't corrupt. We're going to a party for the Lamb; the Bride will meet her Bridegroom.
As I have read but not sure where, people who miss the rapture will of course have to survive 3 1/2 Years of pure hell on earth with a very mad Antichrist who demands your head. If you die saved during that time you'll join the rapture group. If you get saved & survive the 3&1/2years, their bodies won't be transformed & they will have kids.
Question? Is your First love, Jesus Christ?
Trust God. Trust in the Word.

David, I believe you're right that our purpose is to share the good news of Jesus. Some (like Paul) can do this better if they're single, while others (like Peter) can spread the good news better if they're married. Just as each of us is called to bring others to Jesus through various vocations (some through music, some through art, some through sports, etc.), we each need to ask God your question about marraige. Jesus spoke of some making themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of God, but recognized that not all could do this. So we need to find out from God if we can better accomplish the work he sent us to earth to do married to a certain person, and whether it should be a celibate union.

When we except Christ the anointed one as our LORD AND SAVIOR to get into HEAVEN. What is our job now as a Christian here on earth? To bring others into the KINGDOM of LIGHT?? Is it to avoid the lust of flesh, eyes, pride of life?? What is the main purpose now? To remain single or marry? Please help me out I do not understand. Some people say we can truly enjoy life others have told me... "we must deny flesh and our desires daily and live for the LORD"

Thank You Joe. I finally realized that these last days have been so dark that the darkness seemed to be swallowing me up. I came across a song "Master the Tempest is Raging" by Acapeldridge on Youtube. I know that Devils are on the rise since the time is short but I am in this race for the long haul and Jesus is my prize. God Bless
