There's nothing wrong with stories preached by preachers. Jesus preached many such stories. They are called parables.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Matthew 19 - 4 years ago
I have read or heard the same thing as Gonzalo. If it is true or not I don't know. But that's not the point. That eye or a sewing needles eye, it is hard for a rich man to entry into Heaven. But not impossible.
  • Teri on Matthew 19 - 4 years ago
Yep, bretheren...there are alot of "stories" that pass for sermons! Stick with the pure words of God. Study and meditate and the Lord will give you understanding. KJV

When the worlds ways get into your way. There's God close by, to strengthen you. When someone ruins your plans by being-- ME. MYSELF. AND I COME FIRST--Give it to God to show you the right way. When God gives you Wisdom that you asked for, and others use their own way. Know God is close telling you the right way: PRAISE GOD FOR THE ALONE TIME-- YOU NOW NEED WITH HIM!!
  • Richard on Matthew 19 - 4 years ago
The main lesson Christ teaches us over over is that there is no separate God--God is within all of us. whatever you do to the least among you--you do to me You are the light of the world Sermon on the Mount -suffer little children to me for such is the Kingdom of God!

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (notice 18

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
    reread the chapter :)

It easier for a Camel to go through The Eye of a Needle, than for a Rich man to Enter The Kingdom of God. When His Disciples Heard it they were exceedingly Amazed, saying, Who then can be Saved? Matthew 19:24-25. They Knew The Lord is Telling Them it's Impossible for a Rich man to Enter The Kingdom. / There's no Door Call Eye of a Needle, never has been. Only by The Blood of The Lamb do we Enter
  • Gonzalo on Matthew 19 - 5 years ago
verse :24. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. I heard many times in my Bible study from fellow Christians they say that Jesus was referring to a huge door in Jerusalem ( named the "eye of the needle") that a rich person camel loaded to the max could not enter easily. but verse 25 and 26 refute that Justification.

i comment on v12.it teaches us of the spirit of barrenness.it comes as a generational curse ....mothers womb ....of men curses by people and lastly by design or choice for kingdom of God.The first two needs prayer to be broken. The last i have issues with in this comment. Jeremiah 1 v9 to 10 buttresses my position.we have to pray against the principalities or hierachy of evil as provided in EPHNS

Verse 26: Jehovah God is not limited in power. He can do whatever is needed to accomplish his purposes.

Thank you Tim for your nice reply. I enjoy it very much to spend this time searching and discussing THE MOST IMPORTANT AND PROFITABLE things of the Lord. I come here in the morning after my Bible reading, and when I relax in the evening after work. I look forward to talking again soon.
  • Tim on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Disciple, good point when you wrote, "NOT IN ANY WAY to grant approval, but simply for Public Record.".
I'm going over to John 5 in a day or so and comment on the healing poll, I'd like to here your comments. I enjoyed our interaction.

The question that the Pharisees asked; whether it was lawful in every case to divorce; was a treacherous design to catch the Lord in something said, so they might accuse Him. People want to divorce just because they "can't get along;" and the allowance given by Moses was only with the stipulation that the matter be documented legally; NOT IN ANY WAY to grant approval, but simply for Public Record.
  • Tim on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
fornication was the uncleanness in the law Moses gave. and it was given for the hardness of heart. and when Jesus was speaking he was speaking to the Pharisees, and said it was given for the hardness of your heart. Jesus is the true law giver and like Moses when Jesus spoke fornication for remarriage is still for the hard hearted. Jesus didn't change the law. he told us what the uncleanness was.
  • A disciple on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
"..Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." It is impossible for men who trust in anything of themselves; who they are, what they are, or in their wealth to be saved. But NOTHING is impossible with God! All hindrances and obstacles and misconceptions can be overcome, and men can be saved when God does it!
  • A disciple on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Tim; Fornication breaks the marriage bond just as if the one had died; and it is the ONLY reason, according to the Lord Jesus, that one may leave its spouse; and a brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. Adultery, fornication, rape... they are all like murder in God's view! I completely agree with you, that as the Elect of God, who walk in Truth, CHRISTIANS ARE NOT THE HARD HEARTED.
  • Tim on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
matt 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

fornication is not a good reason for divorce, and doesn't ok divorce and remarriage of another person. it was given for the hard hearted.
CHRISTIANS ARE NOT THE HARD HEARTED.

Jesus of Nazareth, when thou returnest to redeem thy own, beware of false profits and hypocrits who cite you as master but only have evil in their hearts, and those in power who manipulate weak minds to achieve their sinister ends; and bless those who do not think liars are innocent of evil intent but rightly discern truth as thou hast spoken yourself against the corrupt power in 33AD, and come!

To: Matthew Chapter 19 - Comment by "Bookreadingismything" on 2/14/2017; Proverbs 14:10 "The heart knows his own bitterness; and a stranger does not intermeddle with his joy." Our pains and hurts by others matter to the Lord; He knows our sorrows, for they are His sorrows. Forgiving and releasing someone so close, of such a hurt, is a sacrifice of righteousness, and as incense going up to God.
  • A disciple on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Anne; The yielding and surrendering of the will: the part of "walking in the Spirit" that must deny self; the part of "walking in love" that seeks not its own things; thank you for the clarification. When the Lord Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane about to be betrayed, He yielded and surrendered to the evil that was about to come upon Him, as from the Father's hand. His faith worked by love.
  • Anne on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
A Disciple: I agree with you about conversion/repentance but surrendering fully to God to me is to live as stated in Gal.2:20.
  • A disciple on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Anne; Where in the Bible do you ever read that the Lord Jesus asks for OUR acceptance? And where ever in the Bible do you read that God says to "surrender" to Him? The word is, REPENTANCE; and it is what we do when we are CONVERTED! You may forgive my bluntness, but that kind of language DOES NOT COME FROM THE WORD OF GOD! If you're really and truly saved, then that means you must be converted!
  • Anne on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Whatever is hindering us from surrendering fully to God, we must get rid of it and with the help of God we can. With God all things are possible.
  • BSP on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Verse 4: Jehovah God set the standard for morality and marriage. This is to be a permanent bond between man and woman.
  • Wayne on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
2 Corinthians 3:3, the Holy Spirit writes not on tablets of stone but on the fleshy tablets of our hearts. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death.
  • Stargazer on Matthew 19 - 6 years ago
Jesus' ministry was short upon the earth but leaves for us an eternal legacy, adapting the old and including the new. Keep the commandments which Moses hath chiseled upon the rock and which are to be found in the Ark of the covenant. But also sell what thou has that interferes with loving God more than yourself. The cares of this world are mere
moments, while God's love is eternal. We choose.
