  • Joan Gerstner on Matthew 16:19
The keys of the kingdom are, i believe the gospel that is preached. Our acceptance, an faith in the word (looses)us from the bondage Satan as had us in, an if we reject the gospel preached to us

then we remain (bound), an in bondage. Jesus came to set the captives free, but the choice remains yours if you want to to be loosed . Peter preached in the day of Pentecost an 3000 were loosed from bondage that day. Every Sunday the gospel is preached and there are those who believe and are loosed an others will walk out still in the bondage they came in with because they refuse the gospel.

The seventy disciples did not know their worth until they came back to report saying even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. (Luke 10:17).

  • Peter(Petros)- a small pebble

Jesus - The chief cornerstone, the foundation of our faith(rock of our salvation)

"On this rock(himself) I will build my church" One of Jesus Christ's sayings

Peter not the first Pope, but alive in Christ his savior (Yahweh, our savior)

Without the blood of Jesus being shed for our sins and His resurrection Christianity in its true form cannot exist.

If Jesus was only a sinful man like us - remember the wages of sin is death, but God's gift to us is eternal life through His Son!

Yes I now that wages of seen is death if Jesus had not died there will be nothing like Christian.

    God bless you.

What a blessing when the holy spirit uses our mouth, tongue and spirit to utter concurrence holy spirit.

It only then that brings glory to God in heaven and honor to his name earth.

However, gifts are earned but given by omniscient God and we receive them humbly and use them even with humility. Remember what Jesus said to not long after this affirmation.

    Revelation Chapter 13

1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

4And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make w

I will give my opinion of what I read and hope it helps the viewers. My thoughts on this chapter. The Pharisees and Sadducees ask a sign. Jesus cautions against the doctrine of the Pharisees. Peter's testimony that Jesus was the Christ. Christ foretells his sufferings and rebukes Peter. The necessity of self-denial. Remember viewers Satan kills, still, and destroy. families who we love to attack.
  • Vanessa on Matthew 16
He warned not to listen to Pharisees, and Sadducees they spend their time teaching the word yet they no not who they speak of is standing in front of them. Peter was chosen to be the Rock of His Church when He was to leave them, Jesus did speak of satan sifting Peter. Peter told Him who he was and knew the word of God that His son was to die on the cross, how Jesus knew it was satan speaking. GB

Peter was not the rock that Jesus was referring to. (but that's what the Catholics believe.) Jesus was referring to himself. Upon this rock (Jesus) I will build my church.
  • SBCK Yasharahla on Matthew 16
I don't know if anyone ever addressed the question of whether or not CHRIST misspoke when He said that no man had ever ascended into Heaven.... He did not! He meant of their own accord. Remember, Elijah was caught up taken up in a whirlwind. GOD did that! Enoch was translated by GOD. The Holy Scriptures say that Enoch walked with GOD. He did not ascend of His own accord as Our Saviour did.
  • Praise - in Reply on Matthew 16
That was the first rapture that took place as Enoch was walking with God he did not acsend he was taken up to heaven in an twinkling of an eye.

There is a place we all go to be judged before we go to heaven or hell.
  • Praise - in Reply on Matthew 16
    It is true.
  • Vanessa - in Reply on Matthew 16
He is referring to his second coming, those who haven't excepted him and turned from their fleshy life will not rise up, Never accuse the Lord of misspeaking he died without blemish for our sins. People think they serve God but do the I thing, not realizing all blessings flow from him and him alone. we die to ourselves and carry our cross for his sake, we feed the soul not the flesh. God Bless
  • Stephanie Yasharahla - in Reply on Matthew 16
First of all, I NEVER said that CHRIST misspoke nor, would I ever. I believe "let GOD be true and every man a liar..." Someone ELSE commented and said that. Secondly, CHRIST meant what He said..NO MAN hath ascended into Heaven.." ONLY CHRIST did that in His Holy, Human body for He IS both GOD and man. If you are CHRIST's when you die you go to Heaven if not, then you go to Hell. No in betw

I would tell them to study John an to read of that in John 3:13
  • Vanessa - in Reply on Matthew 16
I accused you nothing, sorry if you felt that way, I saw the comment and addressed it as one body in Christ we help each other in understanding so they aren't lead astray, we dont condemn no man unless we choose to be self righteous God Bless you always

    Okay. I agree.
  • Terrell Rashar Reese on Matthew 16
I honestly think that this lesson was a good one to discuss at church. When Peter says that God has forbid Jesus rising in 3 days is false obviously . But what I am not understanding is when Jesus said "Get thee behind me, Satan. If you can tell us people who didn't understand that verse, that will mean a lot.
  • Frank - in Reply on Matthew 16
Read the rest of the verse and I think you will understand.
  • Vanessa - in Reply on Matthew 16
Jesus asked Peter who do you say I am, he said the son of God, Peter knew the scriptures of the Old testament and knew He would being going to the cross to die for His people to save them , how he knew it was satan God bless you
  • Stanjett - in Reply on Matthew 16
I take it that Satan was trying to influence Peter to prevent Jesus from his mission. Which of course was to die for all and rise the 3rd day.
  • Stanjett on Matthew 16
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. This is the only place in the bible the word Barjona is used. Which means son of Jona and dove. Many Simons in the bible but this Simon is Peter.
  • I am that Michael Isaac Dale on Matthew 16
You say, Peter was just the pebble in comparison. Who art thou that judges another man's servant? to his own master he stands or falls. Yea, he shall be held up: for God is able to make him stand. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.
