"And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. " Taking up a cross is for crucifying the flesh. Paul has said "O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? " He was talking about the struggle he and all born again believers deal with when it comes to wanting to do God 's will, but our flesh wants to fulfill the lusts of the old us that we are to deny daily. Things such as lasciviousness, pride, covetousness, rage, etc. To take up your cross is to seek and fulfill God 's will and not your own. To go without for righteousness sake, to make of yourself of no reputation, to keep God 's commandments instead of giving into sinful pleasure, to keep yourself from being corrupted by the things and people of this present evil generation. Christ lived a life of self denial, lowliness, affliction, temptation, living for others and bearing their burdens. He lived for the glory and approval of God and not of man. We are to do the same. It is by no means easy, but rely on his strength and take heart, for he that is in you is greater and has overcome the world. 2 Timothy 2:12 says "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: " Those that are disciples inwardly and not just outwardly are the ones that are approved of God. Philippians 3:8 1 Corinthians 15:31 Romans 8:18 Philippians 2:4-7 Ephesians 2:3 1 Peter 4:2

I 'd like to better understand verse 38, "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. " Can anyone direct me to another part of Scripture that explains this in depth? What I 'm thinking it means is that we should acknowledge our sins as we continue to strive to correct them. I 'm also thinking this may mean any physical ailments we are dealing with and, despite the problems these cause us, we continue to follow. I would appreciate Scriptural references to help me understand.

All the things Jesus did for other such as healing them , and he did It FOR FREE! Jehovah supplies everyone a free supply of Holy Spirit, he never charged anyone money. Jesus being the perfect reflection of his father! Didn 't charge anyone either. It is very puzzling to me, how being a pastor or priest has become a Job, literally! Members of the Church PAY THE PASTOR to tell them what they want to hear.

Hello Gurjit Singh: Hebrews 9: 27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: The only people who are protecting against judgment after death are those who are asleep in Christ. Those are the individuals who have taken on the name of Jesus Christ by following Acts 2: 38.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 10:35 - 9 years ago
People in the family have great affection and attachment for each others. So they do not feel need of attaching themselves with God.So the Christ is saying that he has come to cut the bond of attachment in the family and outer members so that they may start feeling the need of God in and after their life, because family members can do nothing for us after our death.Only God is our protector after death.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 10:38 - 9 years ago
Cross mean to cross or overcome the obstacles in the way of God.These obstacles are five in numbers.Sex,Anger,Greed,Attachment and ego.Christ told his followers to cross or conquer these five enemies and then they would be able to follow his way.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 10:34 - 9 years ago
Peace, sorrow, pain, greif, love, hate, happiness etc.are the limbs of this world made by God.We are attached to this world so we are in pain,we are in hate,we are in happiness etc.If our child is sick we are unable to sleep. But if the child of neighbour is sick we have no affect on us.The reason is we have strong attachment with our child and have no attachment with neighbour child. So this attachment causes us in greif or pain. Now the purpose of saint is not to change the system of world. They come here to detach us from world and to attach us wit God.The outer peace is temporary. It ends one day.The inner peace is permanent. So christ uses the sword of word, logous and prayer for cutting our attachments with worldly things and attaching us with internal gems like God through word.Saint always told us the way for getting inner peace not the outer peace. The sword is prayer for attaching with word and God and detaching with outer world.
  • Gurjit Singh on Matthew 10:33 - 9 years ago
Jesus is telling us that he can help only those people who do not deny his instructions that God has sent through him.If you do not walk on these instructions I will be unable to help you in the court of God.Instructions are simple living, love everyone, beware of sex,be honest, and give a big time in prayer by self daily.

Hello M. I. riddle Please refer to page 2 up under this section dated 11 9 14, time 3 59 am and time 3 23 am for the answer I already gave. In addition to that I would like to add the following See the Jews was looking for a messiah to come back and fight and get rid of their enemies. However, Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. This is why he stated he did not come to bring peace in the way that they thought he would come. He came to bring peace to a man s soul. When he stated sword, he did not mean an actually steel blade that would cut flesh, he meant the word of God, Hebrews 4 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart .

  • Martha on Matthew 10 - 9 years ago
Susan...it is only through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that we would have the ability to keep His commandments. The New Testament is absolutely full of scriptures about His grace and here are a few of them. John 1 14, Hebrews 4 16, Acts 4 33, Acts 6 8, Acts 14 1 3, John 1 15 17, Acts 20 32, Romans 1 1 5, Hebrews 12 15, 1 Peter 5 10.

Part 2 of 2 If I can say it like this salvation by grace Acts 15 11 Romans 3 24 Romans 5 15 Romans 11 6 Titus 2 11 Titus 3 7. Riches of Jesus Christ Grace, Romans 2 4 Ephesians 1 7 Ephesians 2 7 Philippians 4 19 and 1 Timothy 3 14. So we are living under the grace age. It is not of our works that we should boast about living under this Dispensation of Grace, Ephesians 2 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Divine Grace Titus 3 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost In the end, we are living by the Grace and Mercy of God.

Part 1 of 2 Hello Susan Rush The word Grace has multiple meanings. The Theology meaning for the word Grace is the following The unmerited love and favor of God toward mankind divine influence acting in a person to make the person pure, morally strong, etc. The condition of a person brought to God s favor through this influence a special virtue, gift, or help given to a person by God . Acts 2 38 is the salvation plan that brings the gift of the Holy Ghost to a person. Through this divine influence of God a person becomes strong in the Lord. Where we get one idea that we are living under the Dispensation of Grace is through the following scripture, Ephesians 3 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you ward
  • Susan Rush on Matthew 10:35 - 9 years ago
Grace comes from the Greek "Karas " which means thank, as in "what 'thank ' have ye? " That is the only context in which Christ mentioned "grace ". NONE of this liberal get out of jail free card that denominations falsely teach as doctrine. Oh, but Jesus DOES teach on THIS! Jesus dOES say to keep HIS commands. No one is DOING tHAT though.

Hello Sonya The power is in the Holy Ghost and in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 1 8. Mark 16 15 thru 18. The Bible tells the believer Matthew 17 20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible unto you ". I have seen God perform miracles in my family with the laying on of hands. God can work miracles anywhere, anytime, and with anyone if he so chooses.
  • Sonya on Matthew 10 - 9 years ago
GOD did grant a very few men the power to perform his miracles in his name throughout the world.

Hello Mayemba Andreww Please read my response on the next page up under Matthew Chapter 10 dated 11 09 14 at 3 23 am and 3 59 am to Robert. Jesus did not come to bring peace upon this Earth as we think. He came to bring a peace to man 's soul. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. After you follow Acts 2 38 you have that inner peace knowing that after you do this and live saved all you know how then when the rapture comes you will be caught up in the air.
  • Mayemba Andreww on Matthew 10:34 - 9 years ago
Jesus did not come on earth to bring peace....all the questions you ask yourself are wars brout by different people who have their financial n political reasons but if you believe in Jesus you get to know that everything in this world is vanish...and not profitable...the sword is the blood of jesus...
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 10 - 9 years ago
Part 3 of 3 That is what happened on the day of Pentecost this is why they were amazed because the ones that heard them speak knew that those people in the upper room did not speak may languages as they heard that day magnifying God. Then you have the other side of the tongues speaking in a language that no one can interpret unless God gives interpretation. This is a language that is between you and God. This was again spoken of by the prophet Isaiah 33 19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand . In the end, if you do not have it like the Bible states then you are not saved.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 10 - 9 years ago
Part 2 of 3 On the one side you have a language that when spoken others can understand and know that God is being glorified. For example, I heard a minister say that when the Holy Ghost fell while he was preaching through interpretation to rural Chinese people a woman was filled with the Holy Ghost she spake in English and magnified God. She had never been taught or spoke English in her life.

Part 1 of 3 Hello Sandy You had informed me that you do not have the Holy Ghost. You informed me that you do not have to speak in tongues because everyone around you spoke in English. On the Day of Pentecost it states in Acts 2 3 4 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance . The word Cloven means divided or split. It was one tongue but split into two parts.

Evangelist Chatauna Robinson I am Saved... Acts 2 38 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  • Sandy on Matthew 10 - 9 years ago
Oh I am saying that a family husband and wife 's, children and others will fuss and argue. Thats Ok but Don 't throw fist and Don 't hate the person. If we are all to be Godly its is our God giving job to try as best as we can to love except and to teach and learn about our Lord. If somebody don 't wanna hear it then leave it, pray for them Let God deal with the people that are to stubborn for us to teach. I found that some people it is best to take them a side and talk to them instead of trying to talk in a group, some people get very defencive in a group and feel they are being judged by what you are saying, Quoting the Bible in all actually they are judging themselves by what the Bible is saying. We have to except each others differences, rather we like it on not. Love them anyway. This is a Godly love, you don 't want to see anyone hurt themselves such as by going to hell! Love as you love your children.. Like God loves us his children.

Evangelist Chatauna Robinson, I am a sinner, I am saved, I am washed in the blood, I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior,I have been baptized. I however never needed to speaking in other tongues, for everyone I have communicated with obout our Lord speaks english. I am sure if I need to speak in another language The Holy Spirit will do the speaking for me. I however have been preaching on other sites and I have gone blank in my mind. Then read what I have posted and its something I have no Idea that I typed it. So I believe the Holy spirit is using my body and soul when needed.
