Verses 34 through 36- the Scriptural message is not to blame, but it is the rejection or opposition of unbelieving family members that causes the rifts or divisions.

If a person strives for his life in the world, he will find that the world does not offer "the life", and will lose it. But if he gives up searching the world for his life for the sake of Jesus Christ, he will find 'the life". Because The Life is in Jesus Christ.

HE THAT FINDETH HIS LIFE SHALL LOSE IT AND HE SHALL LOOSES HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE WILL FIND IT. OBEDIENCE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THAN SACRIFICE IF WE FOLLOW JESUS JEHOVA JIREH THE LORD MY PROVIDER SHALOM AMEN

I don't care what it takes I will follow and trust in God for the rest of my life on this earth even if people try to kill me I will still stand strong cause he has been too good to me to just turn my back on him

To:A Disciple, I agree with Emanuel Fernandes. There is nothing wrong with watching sports as long as it does not keep you from God. If you are watching when you should be at church, THAT'S WHEN YOU SHOULD FEEL ASHAMED. By the way "A DISCIPLE" are you a Catholic or what?

Emanuel; To ME, it is sin to be a Sports Fan. If someone else can sit with a good conscience toward God, while being barraged by the worldliness and flesh and utterly spirit-draining idle chatter... I have to say I doubt it! I used to enjoy sports as a kid, and am content to leave it with my childhood in the past. I have determined to sanctify myself to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Narrow Way.

Emanuel; what is there to defend? I just think very strongly that we should not not let ourselves be drawn into the same idle interests as those of the world who don't know any better. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." The Lord has called us and sanctified us to be His witnesses, to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, that the Holy Spirit in us should convict men.

I wrote another post, about the topic of whether God cares about the Super Bowl, but it wasn't put up. I know, and we all know, that there are MULTITUDES of Christians who have no problem with watching sports and enjoying recreation and leisure activities. But when is it too much, and ungodly, and something unbecoming of a Saint? As Christians we are NOT OF THE WORLD, and must be separate from it!

who cares if a sparrow dies and hits the ground who cares about the numbers of hair that I have on my head. GOD CARES THATS WHO!. ALL THINGS ARE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM. The homeless person on the street and the preacher in the pulpit BOTH ARE BEING USED OF GOD WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT THERE BOTH FULLING GODS COUNSEL! We need to study to show thyself approved unto God

Its not sin to watch sports most carnal Christians would think it is. Im under liberty not grace the lost are under grace. As long as Im not under the power of worshipping it.Besides you missed the point READ not skim my comment. If you think God is not involved or care who wins IN ANY SPORT you dont know God he worketh ALL THINGS into his counsel NOTHING IS INSIGNIFICANT to God

Emanuel (cont.); I have seen it everywhere that there is not even a wince of conscience among most Christians about following sports. Why doesn't it seem to bother any of them about the permeating ungodliness and easy uncleanness that surrounds that whole business; but they sit there stupidly watching, and carry on their empty talk with neighbors and coworkers, as if it is some neutral area?

theres nothing insignificant to God a sparrow doesn't hit the ground without the Father knowing this. He worketh ALL things after the counsel of his OWN will. so yes he cares about who will win this years super bowl he permits or causes everything that occurs in his creation. "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered." There are many things the Lord wants to say to us, but we cannot bear them. A big reason for this not being able to bear them, is in the corrupted view of God in the human's darkened heathen mind and a heart alienated from and hostile to God being God! Why would Jesus have to say that our heavenly Father doesn't give us a scorpion when we ask for an egg, if it wasn't because of the heathen thinking with which we are accustomed to think that if there IS a God He has some sinister design against us. And even from the pulpit we constantly hear this same kind of slander against God sugar-coated with religious sounding talk about why we endure suffering, trials and temptations. Any man who invents or builds something, has to have the understanding in order to perfect his ideas. Why then do men think that God doesn't know or doesn't care about the very smallest parts of our existence? I am convinced that this is what it means to know the Lord, and Him knowing us, that shall be the grounds for God letting us enter into His kingdom when this time is finished.

As we get ready in the morning to go to work, or whatever we have for the day we have to first have a set time of sitting at Jesus' feet and hearing His Word. We have to set in order an account of ourselves to God like David wrote in the 5th Psalm so that we have nothing evil or unclean in us and thereby mislead ourselves that we are walking with God, while in our hearts may reside things that makes us unfit for His Presence. In this we do open our hearts to receive the fullness of the Spirit to teach us and direct our ways and that, so we may indeed be in the open with others as we are in the Secret Place of the Most HIGH. Remember always, that the Dove came down and lighted upon the Lamb: NOT a tiger or any other kind of viscous beast! It is a very deep and powerful Word which is told us "LET this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.." It is a matter of our agreement with Him, that we walk like He walks, think like He thinks that we are of the Same Spirit and Faith of Jesus in God.

When engaging in the ministry, we must be both cautious and wise. We must use discernment to know what to say and how to say it.

Hi Ann; Did you notice how that chapter 10 very closely resembles chapter 24, as well as what the Lord was telling the Apostles at the Last Supper in John 13-17? I think that tells us, that the Lord does not need to water down the truth just because we're new; but that He speaks the truth straight and direct. As we grow in grace and knowledge, and are able to understand more, He expounds more.

In this chapter, Jesus prepares his disciples for Ministry to the Jews to teach them about the Kingdom of God.

Verse 23: Jesus foresaw that many of his followers would be forced from their homes due to persecution. He advised ones to leave when things like that happened.

Jesus began to do and to teach, and to heal everyone who had need of healing; and then begins to charge His disciples to continue with the same work. In Matthew 5-7 was a similar thing, when Jesus began to teach about the character and nature of a disciple and now continues with what the disciples' work will be, and what kind life we should expect till He comes; just as He does at the Last Supper.

V34, the sword of Jesus is truth. What is truth varies in opinion even among family members. Arguments and strife arise over who is right and who is wrong. Jesus did not come to pander tranquility at the cost of removal of truth to appease people that want to believe lies. The very foundation of righteousness is truth. Truth must prevail, lies must perish by its sword.

Disciple; I'm sorry for having a bad reaction; forgive me. I know I'm not the only disciple, and I shouldn't object if anyone else wants to use the same for writing on here. Again, please forgive me; I'm sorry.

I did not write the previous post with the similar name. It looks like someone wants to be an impostor, and misdirect with subtle words! "A stage player." But to give my thoughts on this great portion of scripture; Jesus doesn't send out to proselytize, like the Pharisees; but to announce the Glad Tidings, and preach that men should repent; instructing them to keep all that Jesus has commanded us.

Jesus instructing his disciples and therefore us as well as to what our priorities should be. Nothing of this world exceeds in importance the mission of faith and belief in the word. It seem that proselytizing is their mission but for many who have not matured in the way, it would be ineffective and subject them to scorn. I remain an anonymous servant of God figuring that a man of faith is...

It is important that we deny ourselves and let Christ live within us. It is not about us but it is all about JESUS

The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. He that committeth sin is of the devil. For the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not.

Matt. 10:34 - " ... not ... peace, but a sword." I, too, thought of a literal sword, but the Lord showed me Eph. 6:17 - " ..... the sword ..... which is the word of God." And Lk. 12:51 corroborates Matt. - " .... but rather division." The Bible does cause division - between families, friends and churches.

He would have forgiven him, but like a lot of us we let the enemy put In our head that the Farther will not forgive. Which is a lie.

Judas Iscariot; can you see how Jesus loved him? He KNEW he would betray Him (even before Judas was born) yet He gave him every chance to see the light. And - after Judas betrayed Him - he maybe did see the light, but either couldn't believe he could be forgiven or God let him go. I personally believe he could have repented. We need to be very careful what we do and say.
