Wesley's Notes for Matthew 9:38

9:38 The Lord of the harvest - Whose peculiar work and office it is, and who alone is able to do it: that he would thrust forth - for it is an employ not pleasing to flesh and blood; so full of reproach, labour, danger, temptation of every kind, that nature may well be averse to it. Those who never felt this, never yet knew what it is to be labourers in Christ's harvest. He sends them forth, when he calls them by his Spirit, furnishes them with grace and gifts for the work, and makes a way for them to be employed therein.

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 9:38

Mt 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest. The Lord of the harvest is Christ. When we pray the Lord for anything we must work to fulfill our own prayers. If we pray for laborers, we must be willing to become laborers ourselves, or to send and sustain other laborers.

Discussion for Matthew 9:38

  • Elder.Justice Darteh for verse 38
there can't be harvest, without first plowing, sowing before harvesting is done, this tells us that the greater part of the work has been done by the lord of harvest himself before , he is giving us the opportunity to be part of the success story of his labour, this therefore tells me that if we begin any thing new in the sight of men, our master has aready complete it, our surcess stories are the completed work of our saviour Jesus Christ
