"The meaning of this verse for those people who do not understand this. When we are poor in spirit, or feeling ashamed of our sins this is the time, where we call to God for help because we feel guilty and down . We humble ourselves and realize that we are poor in spirit for everyone has sinned against God "For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" this is why it says "blessed are those who are poor in spirit" blessed are they for they humble and they acknowledge their mistakes and then they ask forgiveness and mercy from God, this is how you get salvation."
