People's Bible Notes for Matthew 4:16

Mt 4:16 The people. Those of the region just described (Mt 4:15). Which sat in darkness. In religious ignorance. Saw great light. Christ, the Light of the world. In the teaching of Jesus in the region described by the prophet there was a remarkable fulfillment of the prediction.

Discussion for Matthew 4:16

  • Cecilia for verse 16
WE SHOULD LEAVE THE DARKNESS WHICH IS SIN AND SEEK TO FOLLOW THE BRIGHTEST LIGHT - JESUS WHO IS LAMP TO OUR FEET AND LIGHT TO OUR PATH
  • First they were in spiritual darkness, then a great light sprung up. I know a similar thing happened to me in a dream, a very evil darkness was closing in on me and I knew it would kill me (this was many years ago) not knowing where I knew to do this I suddenly yelled "JESUS" immediately a light burst for from me and obliterated totally all of the darkness surrounding me. The name of Jesus had saved my life, and though I said it, I know even that was by God's Grace because it wasn't something I would think of nor did I have time to think.

So, I was voraciously wanting more of Jesus after that, and I think this particular verse it telling us how their hearts were prepared to do such unusual things when you consider this from a human perspective. Why else would the disciples drop their whole lives to follow Jesus. There may have been other supernatural dreams, visions, but that verse I believe is the key, although being fully God and fully Human, would be something to behold I am sure everyone with an open heart to God would feel drawn irresistibly towards Him.
