People's Bible Notes for Matthew 3:12

Mt 3:12 Fan [is] in his hand. Rather the winnowing shovel, by which the wheat and chaff were tossed together into the air, so that the wind would blow the chaff away. In Palestine grain was threshed on an outdoor threshing floor, either by hand or the treading of cattle, and winnowed by casting it up to the wind. Gather his wheat into the garner. Granary, or grain depository. Unquenchable fire. A reference is here made to the practice of burning the chaff under process of winnowing. The wheat is the righteous, the chaff is the wicked, and Christ is the winnower; the granary is heaven, the unquenchable fire is hell.

Discussion for Matthew 3:12

  • Judith Gustafson for verse 12
I need a photo depicting winnowing, threshing, and separating the chaff.
  • Kenny kgatla for verse 12
Verse 12: Whose fan is in his hand,.. The fan is the word of GOD BECAUSE IT DISCERNS THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF MEN (HEBREWS 4:2)AND JUDGES MEN'S EVIL WAYS (Revelation 20:13). ...PURGE HIS FLOOR, -THE FLOOR IS THE EARTH AND ALL ITS CREATION, IN THIS CASE THE HUMAN BEINGS. IF THE FLOOR MENTIONED HERE IS THE CHURCH, THEN WHAT ABOUT UNBELIEVERS, SINCE THEY ARE GOING TO BE JUDGED TOO AND THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE CHURCH? THE WHEAT IS THE CHRISTIANS AND THE CHAFF STANDS FOR UNBELIVERS (ROMANS 10:16). THE GARNER IS HEAVEN AND THE UNQUENCHABLE FIRE IS THE LAKE OF FIRE MADE FOR SATAN.
  • Everything on this Earth is not by the will of God, though God have mercy to take care of every cell being created on this planet, yet..God have to decide in the judgment time those true in Him will lay upin Heavens.
