Mt 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted. To persecution. Soon literally fulfilled in the Jewish persecutions. The awful persecution of Nero also soon followed. Ye shall be hated. Tacitus, describing Nero's persecution begun in A.D. 64, says "the Christians were haters of mankind".

Discussion for Matthew 24:9

  • Serge on Matthew 24:9
"This"generation. It did not happen. That generation is dead and gone and none of the so called prophecies events have occurred. Christ was referring to his contemporaries ,those alive in his days.He said "This generation not "That" generation.

    " This" is not "That".

    "This" is here and now

    "That" is there and later.
  • JL - in Reply on Matthew 24:9
"This generation" is referring to the generation of Jesus Christ.. from the cross to the end of the world.

I apologize and do not wish to offend. I don't think that scripture would be in the Bible if there was an expiration date on it.

We have to make use of all of the Light that the Lord gives to us. No interpretation is private. All scripture is inspired through the Holy Spirit; who is the Spirit of Christ.

Revelation chapter 22 forbids us to ADD to or to SUBTRACT from scripture just as it is in the Bible. Let's all take a look at that?

Matthew 24:32. Our Lord Jesus said this parable to his disciples as a prophecy of future Israel. Fig tree denotes Israel nation. Hosea.9:1.Israel nation rebirthed in 1948. Now it is 72 years passed. Israel is well established showing tender branches. That denotes summer is nearing. What is summer to Israel. Summer is the season of harvest.Matthew.13:39 says harvest denotes end of the world. Yes it is time of Messiah to come. In Psalm 90: 10 says "The days our years are threescore years and ten:and if by reason of strength they may be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow: for it is soon cut off, and we fly away". So Israel remains only eight years (maximum) for harvest. Called, Chosen and faithful - be ready for the glorous event.

  • The Tragedy of Being Isolated by Satan - in Reply on Matthew 24:9
Satans best tool against anybody, saved or unsaved, is Isolation. You are vulnerable because of it.

The Humility of Jesus is shown in how he cared for people who came to Him for help.

There are many, many ministries who could use an extra pair of hands, and a friendly smile.

You aren't going to have a husband ring the doorbell. You need to make some calls; call your church for advise. Be VISABLE. Try:

    Feeding ministries

    Benevolence (Clothing,toys,shoes)

    Collecting coats for Kids

Helping with blue or brown Santa

Writing out Holiday greeting cards for shut-in's or elderly

Your local civic organizations (paint scenery for Christmas plays, find costumes, etc

    Help Habitat for Humanity

A nice man may be out in the midst of all that: being his kind and caring self. As long as you're isolated you will not be in range of meeting. Mission accomplished by Satans crummy helpers. Conversation in public only.

If your church doesn't do these kind of things; find a church with a big singles ministry. No rule says you can't visit other singles ministries and attend your regular church.

Life can be fun again. Mishael

I'd have to disagree , Satan has no mastery over a mature Believer alone or with many .

If God before us who can be against us ?

Yes a babe in Christ can be deceived by persuading people for a time , but the truth of the Bible will set them free if they read it alone or else where .

The over comer has no fear of the devil . But acknowledges his tactics and avoids them , and knows how to pray effectively.

Jesus taught the disciples how to pray . To keep them out of temptations .

More is better but alone works too if you know how to walk with God .

What is the Wilderness of Sin?
  • Chris - in Reply on Matthew 24:9
Frankye, Stanjett is correct. The Wilderness of Sin is one of six wildernesses through which the Israelites travelled on their way to Canaan after leaving the bondage in Egypt/Pharaoh. The wildernesses include Shur, Etham, Sin, Sinai, Paran, and Zin. The Wilderness of Sin is sometimes confused with the Wilderness of Zin, a region on the northwestern side of the Sinai Peninsula. The Israelites traversed the Wilderness of Sin at the beginning of the Exodus, arriving at the Wilderness of Sin "on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt" (Exodus 16:1).
  • Stanjett - in Reply on Matthew 24:9
Sin here is not sin as we know sin(doing wrong.) This is a place named Sin. Somewhere in the wilderness. A small town maybe or a water hole.
