Bible Commentary for Matthew 24:28

Wesley's Notes for Matthew 24:28

24:28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles he gathered together - Our Lord gives this, as a farther reason, why they should not hearken to any pretended deliverer. As if he had said, Expect not any deliverer of the Jewish nation; for it is devoted to destruction. It is already before God a dead carcass, which the Roman eagles will soon devour. #Luke 17:37|.

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 24:28

Mt 24:28 Whersoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered. The term "carcase" well represents the utterly corrupted Jewish state; the "eagles" is a fit symbol of the Roman army, every legion of which bore the eagle as its standard.

Discussion for Matthew 24:28

Is the carcass the Christians, the body of Christ, or is it the wicked to be judged????? Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

I agree with Martin on this verse. The eagles will be gathered to feast on those who are slain with the sword which proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. And all the fowls will be filled with their flesh.
  • DICKIE MOHESS on Matthew 24:28
There is a riddle in the bible which Samson gave concerning a dead lion. The dead lion or the carcass is JESUS. The honey from a dead lion is ALL that Christ has done and is doing in us and for us. As we the eagle continue to feed on him this happens "But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. "
  • Terry on Matthew 24:28
Wherever there is a dead body, there the journalists or reporters eagles will gather, and all of us see it nearly everyday, simultaneously through Global Telecommunications like a lightning flash illuminating the entire sky . Not the "one on one " personal situations of Jesus 's age.

Could it be that Yeshua is speaking of himself? Follow me on an adventure threw the passages that he himself wrote. "John 12 28 " "Revelation 12 5 " "Luke 17 20 37 " "Matthew 24 28 " In John 12 28, does not the word "again " mean more than once? Wayward Son Kansas And which generation is he speaking of that will not pass? Could it be this one? And the word carcase is spelled in singular form, not plural. And they asked him... "where Lord? And he answered them and said...for wheresoever the "carcase " is...singular, not plural. You don 't need a map or a GPS device to figure this out. Yeshua tells ya flat out that he will return "again " in the flesh and die a "second time " and be glorified... "again! " What 's so hard to figure out? Ever wondered what happened to the "man child " in Revelation 12 5? There 's your answer. Just as The Father said to The Son...Carry on my wayward Son, they 'll be peace when you are done, lay your weary head to rest, don 't you cry no more...NO!
  • N V John on Matthew 24:28
This is the time of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to the verses of 1Thesalonians 4 16and 17, clearly we can understand that the dead in Christ at first and then the remaining God 's children alive still will rise up to meet Him in the air. So that the carcase, here, stands for Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Eagles for all saints.
  • Eric on Matthew 24:28
Eagles or vultures are naturally drawn to their food a carcass or dead animal They are naturally drawn to their food through their keen God given senses God s people will also be drawn to the Lord on the day of His second comming No one will have to come tell us that Jesus has arrived it s time to go If we have our heart right we re leaving

this is gonna sound far out but bear with me and I'll explain . In 1999 the chamber of Osiris( another name for Nimrod the first antichrist I believe was discovered but was'nt his body.) In 2003 in the Iraq dessert Giglamesh was found (again another name for Nimrod ) about a month later US forces were deployed (the eagles) and took possessions from the Iraq museum . there seems to be a corelation here as it says in scripture "he is in the dessert or in the chambers refering to the antichrist but do not go don't believe it" there seems to be a race to find the antichrist
  • Dawny on Matthew 24:28
I agree with Martin. "Carcase" represents death. As Jesus uses the comparison of the days of Noah and Lot with his coming, it coincides with what is said in Psalm 145:20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
  • Eph on Matthew 24:28
I heard one American Soldier reading and explaining this verse like "The Eagle" is an American Soldier He said, "where there is a war American soldiers are there". So I agree with him that where there is war there will be an American Soldier there to fight, and to protect and there will be many casualties (carcasses/dead bodies). God is not done with America even after rapture!
