Wesley's Notes for Matthew 24:2

24:2 There shall not he left one stone upon another - This was most punctually fulfilled; for after the temple was burnt, Titus, the Roman general, ordered the very foundations of it to be dug up; after which the ground on which it stood was ploughed up by Turnus Rufus.

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 24:2

Mt 24:2 There shall not be left, etc. Other great temples are in ruins, but their ruins indicate their former splendor. The Parthenon, the Acropolis, the temples of Karnak, Luxor, and Baalbec are examples; but to find even the foundations of the Jewish temple it is necessary to dig beneath the modern city. It has entirely disappeared from the face of the earth, and a Mohammedan mosque stands on the spot where it stood.

Discussion for Matthew 24:2

  • Amen to the prophetic words of the Son of God. Matthew 24 Mark 13 Luke 21
  • Jerry Moseley for verse 2
There is something so mystifying and magical about imagining Jesus describing to the disciples how that the very cornerstone itself would be leveled. Jesus became the cornerstone for all of mankind. My life has taken so many wrong turns and I feel his hand drawing me back to the fold. If there should be any one to read this pray that this prodigal might return to God's full measure of His saving grace. If no one reads this God knew the words before I ever typed them. Behold He is my Saviour. And He doth come quickly. He soon shall walk where those stones were leveled.
